I thought I was just going in for a basic cleaning today. I wasn't prepared for what actually happened though. I basically just got a full 1 hour version of a root scaling and planing done for free. No time for anesthesia/Novocain. She said we got a lot of work done in that time because I took it so well and didn't move at all.
Granted there was no way she was able to do what took 3 hours to do in two sessions around 4 years ago, but that was after around 15 years of not seeing a dentist that time and it also didn't cost me $1,500 out of pocket either.
Anything that was missed should be taken care of in 6 months when I go back, but she said that even though in a full session she'd be taking time at the end to make sure she got it all that when she flossed it felt as if it's all out.
My new dentist office is awesome! :)
Got my blood work done today too. Super fast and super friendly staff.
I feel like I won the lotto here with my choice of professionals.
I'll wait until the lab results come back to start celebrating though.

That's why I hate cellphones. I've been almost walked into by people looking at their phones when they should be looking where they are walking.
I have a cellphone and use it as a landline as this place doesn't have a landline. I will not carry it with me or use it when I am out as I hate them.
People think I am weird because of that but I find them rude and even people my age and older are addicted to the things.
So, no I will never have the thing with me.

My brother has a smart phone, but only because the government gave it to him (the one on SSDI). My dad has a flip phone. I don't even have one. I remember many years back before my Grandma passed that when we'd go out for lunch once or twice a year she would thank me for not talking on my phone at all when I was with her. I was the oldest of her grandchildren, and my youngest cousin is about 15 years younger than me, so it's no surprise that she said that I was one of the only ones that wouldn't pull their phone out at some point during the lunch.
She knew I liked drinking, but she was never aware how bad that problem had gotten. Going out to lunch with her was actually a very rare event that I left my house for a few years there other than going to work. I knew that pretty much everybody I worked with was on the damn things half the time on break, but other than that I wasn't out in the real world much.
Fast forward a few years later, and I almost feel like somebody from one of those stories who was sleeping or in a coma for years and wakes up into a strange new world they aren't really a part of anymore. They're everywhere. In the hands of children and senior citizens alike. People who never had interest in computers their entire life know more about them than I do. It's terrifying. I want no part of it.

The strange thing is, I can actually empathize with them because of my own struggles with addiction and the cognitive impairment and complete disconnect from reality that my copious consumption of alcohol caused.
This video is very interesting to me. It's a bit scary, but at the same time it's hopeful. Some people are getting rid of them and going back to regular phones. Maybe if the facts about smartphone addiction becomes more prominent then more people will do so.

I think they're trying to sell at the top of the market. Somebody should tell that that prices are already going down in your area. My experience selling into a falling market (We had a compelling reason to move) is that you need to drop your initial listing and sell FAST, otherwise your house will linger on the market and you'll drop your prices anyway. So maybe the falling prices will discourage them from selling. One can only hope ....

When I go to the doctor's office I look around to see who is doing what. One elderly lady was knitting. Another elderly couple was talking. But everyone else had their face in a phone. Sheesh.
I usually take my diary-planner with me, some scrap paper and a pen: I either work on designing furniture (for hubby to build) or my landscape (for me to implement) or I think of "all the things I need to do" and write it all down so I don't forget it. (I keep a running list ... there are a million things to chase after - big AND little - to keep a household running efficiently. Even more, now that I'm decluttering/ organizing and we're slowly doing renovations. Hubby wanted a six-month vacation after his retirement and I can say that with a few exceptions - such as gutter-cleaning- I've been handling everything myself. With all my aches and pains it's a slow process, but I DO try to keep up!)

Clean bill of health. :)
Out of about 100 different measurements taken in 3 tests, the only thing I had outside of the limits was my glucose level being a few points high. I was told it was nothing to be concerned about, but they wanted to mention that. Let them know what my diet was and my Dr. recommended that if I switched the honey nut cheerios for regular cheerios and keep doing whatever it is I'm doing that everything is going to come up perfect a year from now.
I'll be damned. Looks like my mouth problems are all I got out of all that prolonged bad behavior.
As long as I don't go back to drinking and I maintain my diet, everything should be great.
Now more than ever I'm convinced that my job is worth so much more than just the moderate pay that I get. Stress free, plenty of time off, and a ton of exercise while I'm there.
I love my job even more now. :)
