It appears another person has made claims against Kavanaugh. It's just being reported on for the first time as I type this. This makes 4.

Groups like the US Chamber of Commerce are still backing Brett Kavanaugh. Big business knows that Kavanaugh could be a boon to their bottom line.
One of the biggest questions facing the American judiciary is whether the Constitution allows elected representatives to meaningfully regulate the national economy.
Kavanaugh clearly believes it does NOT. He has called the existence of independent regulatory agencies — notably including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau but potentially the entire alphabet soup of FCC, FTC, CFTC, SEC, FEC, etc. — a “threat to individual liberty.”
But rather than debate this squarely, we are instead faced with grifters like Kavanaugh’s former boss Ken Starr insisting in the pages of the Washington Post that Kavanaugh stands for nothing more than a simple “pro-democracy, let-the-people-govern-themselves vision.”
The truth is quite the opposite — Kavanaugh’s vision, which he shares with Starr and the bulk of the conservative legal academy, is one in which the courts should stand as staunch allies of capital and block any effort at control of big business.

Judge has gone into hiding...why!? He claims to know nothing, and Kavanaugh
claims that he wasn't there - wherever there was. So, why not have the FBI
investigate and clear his name once and for all. Nobody can lie to the FBI or
suffer the consequences.
And why, for that matter, doesn't Judge present himself at the hearing and
back his friend's play? You know, to support his best bud. But no, he's
hiding like a little bitch.
One more: Why don't the senators in the Judicial Committee request that the
FBI investigate the allegations brought on by these women? What do they have to hide? What are they afraid of? Don't they want to clear his name?
No matter. Once the Dems take over after the mid-terms they will push for
an investigation and testimony from the women. If the charges have merit,
they will push for impeachment of Kavanaugh.
In the Judge Thomas case, Bush called for an investigation to clear his name
and it took 4 days. There were 20 people called to testify, and that included
people in support of Clarence Thomas. And as you know, Thomas found his way
to the Supreme Court.
Something is off.

IN THE MEANTIME
Quote:This is what I posted before: It's very hard to dredge up a clouded memory without warping it in some way. So while people can BELIEVE that they're telling the truth, they can also be MISTAKEN. Ford's memories are so very incomplete and contradicted by other evidence (such as her description of the house she was in not matching any of the houses that the boys lived in, and Kavanaugh having an "alibi" for that time) that they REQUIRE some sort of corroboration.
Kavanaugh Mayhem: Two Men Cop To Feeling Christine Ford's Breasts, Contradicting Her Accusation
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday night released a time of their efforts to responded to various accusations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh - including two men who say they they were the basis for the "groping" allegation.
As far as Ramirez is concerned, her memory is ALSO clouded. If I understand the timeline correctly, the email exchange came FIRST, and Ramrirez' allegations came afterwards. Is it possible that she read a description of what somebody said they were told, and then took her (fragmentary) memories and tried fitting those puzzle-pieces to that picture? Did she read the emails first and "reconstruct" her memory afterwards? Or were those independent recollections?
And finally ...
Quote:
And earlier Wednesday, another Kavanaugh accuser - Julie Swetnick, had an ominous cloud of doubt cast over her allegation that the Supreme Court nominee and a friend were operating a date-rape "gang bang" operation at 10 high school parties she attended as a legal adult three years older than Kavanaugh (yet didn't report once).
Politico reports that Swetnick's ex-boyfriend, Richard Vinneccy - a registered Democrat, took out a restraining order against her, and says he has evidence that she's lying.
"Right after I broke up with her, she was threatening my family, threatening my wife and threatening to do harm to my baby at that time," Vinneccy said in a telephone interview with POLITICO. "I know a lot about her." -Politico
"I have a lot of facts, evidence, that what she’s saying is not true at all," he said. "I would rather speak to my attorney first before saying more."

" ...In the extensive amount we collectively spent with Brett, we do no recall having ever met someone name Julie Swetnick. Nor did we ever observe Brett engaging in conduct resembling that described in Miss Swetnick's declaration..."
PJM's Matt Margolis spoke to a woman who attended parties with students from Kavanaugh's high school. She disputed the gang rape allegations. Anyone who knew this woman in the 1980s should probably come forward now to help straighten out this mess.

Right now, it's a three-ring circus.
What one has to keep firmly in mind is that an allegation- no matter how shocking and heinous- is just that: an accusation without proof.
As far as the first two allegations are concerned, I think that I have REASONABLE doubts about their accuracy, and that these REASONABLE doubts need to be answered before a conclusion can be reached. Other statements are coming forward about the other allegations, and those need to be sorted out as well.

A poll from Morning Consult/Politico released Wednesday shows that only 49 percent of GOP women support Kavanaugh’s confirmation, and 15 percent oppose it. That’s a drop of 18 points in support from Republican women since last week. And overall, 37 percent of Americans oppose his confirmation; just 34 percent think it’s a good idea.
That’s the point to remember. The allegations against Kavanaugh — and the recriminations they have elicited from Republicans who see him as unfairly maligned — may not affect his confirmation. But they will affect how his jurisprudence as a member of the Supreme Court is seen.
Republicans may think that’s unfair. But if they want Americans to have confidence in the Supreme Court, they should take more care, in the future, to make sure that Americans can have confidence in their nominees.

I'm at least 50% sure at this juncture that no matter who the nominee was, so long as he were a white male, they would be receiving these allegations.
At this point with 4 going on a million accusers, it's really starting to look like an orgy of evidence. No pun intended.

The word that is used to describe the people on the Federalist Society’s list for the court is “vetted.” Everybody on that list was “vetted” by the Federalist Society to insure they would make the kind of Supreme Court justice they, and Trump, wanted. They’ve made no secret that they want a “conservative” on the court, describing someone who will vote the way they want him to vote. That means they wanted someone who will join the other four Republican appointees to the court and vote with the 5-4 conservative majority that has overturned so many long-settled areas of the law over the last decade.
That’s our Brett, all right. He’s a made-man in the Federalist Society. But the problem is, he was vetted for his voting, but not for his sex life.
The Federalist Society has among its members and former members Antonin Scalia, Edwin Meese, Clarence Thomas, Robert Bork, Orrin Hatch, Ted Cruz, Samuel Alito, and Kenneth Starr. I mean, just look at that cast of characters: the judges among them believe you don’t have a right to privacy under the Constitution, and neither do the Senators or Bork, who was rejected by the Senate for the Supreme Court in 1987 because his legal views were so extreme. They believe corporations are “people” with the right to spend as much as they want to influence American elections. They believe the Voting Rights Act did too much to protect the rights of voters, so they removed its key enforcement authority. And they’re all basically fine with the idea that wealthy, white men ought to be running things in this country, and everybody else ought to stay where they belong and shut up.

I heard an interesting segment on NPR a couple of weeks ago, and one of the interviewees said that the Democrats have never focused on the importance of the Supreme Court like the Republicans have.
I have to agree. Just look at what happened since Trump was elected ... it's been RUSSIA!! RUSSIA!! RUSSIA!! 24/7 in their neocon/neoliberal/neo-McCarthyite campaign to get rid of Trump. Now, SUDDENLY, they realize that they face a real crisis (and not just a phony made-up one) with the Supreme Court.
I'm not a fan of the Federalist Society, I hate most of the conservative rulings that they favor, and I just wish that the Dems had made a more adult effort to win their elections instead of playing identity politics.
And BTW they're STILL playing identity politics. Well, they get what they deserve. Too bad we "get" what they deserve too.
*****
There is still hope for Dems, tho. IF they can manage to win enough seats in Congress they can pass legislation which the Supreme Court would have to respond to. One of the reasons why the Supreme Court has so much influence is because Congress has abdicated its power to both the President and the SC by allowing one branch to "enforce" laws which it has not written (for example, immigration reform) and allowing the other branch to "interpret" laws which it has not made explicit. If Congress were to write clear, explicit, comprehensive, proactive legislation ... oh, and btw take back it's duty to declare war ... then the President and SC wouldn't be so influential.

True enough.
I have a different focus. At the moment, the political hysteria is through the roof - it's become an incoherent shouting match of increasing volume.
What I DON'T see coming off the dems in this instance - and did not see it at all either before, during, or after the election up to this point - is a plan to solve any real problems.
Nope. All this is about the dem politicians scoring political points for themselves within Congress against repubs within Congress. We the people don't factor in at all. Anyone who expects dems are going to make things better at our level are in for disappointment.
THUGGER admits it's not about RUSSIA !!! and is, in fact, a witch hunt. "Trump better be innocent of any wrong doing, anywhere, anytime."

I had to chuckle at that video, KIKI. That pretty much sums up our current political atmosphere. And the Dems? They're more interested in "playing politics" than in governing ... which means "solving real problems".
Repubs play politics, too. But while everyone is distracted by phony conflicts and amped-up theater, the elite keep moving their chess pieces behind the scenes.

Bottom line...When asked about others who knew him back then who say he lied he knows no investigation means they can't be called to testify.

Once again, I'd like to point out to everyone that Second has the only legitimate conversation taking place about the reasons why Kavanaugh is not a good idea. I only wish that his outlook and presentation of various other ideas was more in line with his process of arguing against Kavanaugh's appointment. I'm actually feeling the tiniest spark of remembrance of what the Democratic party was when GWB was president. More than seeing Second do this, I'd love for the Democratic party to do a complete 180 on its identity politics and other reactionary tactics and go back to what they were good at.

I actually like a lot of Garland's history, from the short amount that I've read of him before replying here.
The 11 Republicans you speak of would have denied anybody that Obama put up, so I can't say that it was anything personal against Garland himself, other than just being Obama's pick.
Maybe my brain still has some cobwebs since I just woke up, but could somebody explain this little blurb about his stance on the 2nd ammendment:
Quote:
In 2007, Garland voted in favor of en banc review of the D.C. Circuit's panel decision in Parker v. District of Columbia invalidating the D.C. handgun ban, which the Supreme Court subsequently affirmed 5–4 in an opinion by Justice Scalia.[20] Goldstein commented, "Garland did not take a formal position on the merits of the case" and "even if he had concluded that the statute was constitutional, that view of the case would have conformed" to widespread views under then-existing Supreme Court precedent.[20] Trevor Burrus of the Cato Institute nonetheless wrote that libertarians and conservatives should be concerned about Garland's stance on gun rights.[60]
That description seems to be saying two opposing things to me.
In any event, I think that we'd be much better off with Garland on the supreme court than either Kavanaugh or Sonia Sotomayor.

Consider my curiosity piqued, Second. Who would you suggest would make a better Supreme Court nomination for the people if you were in charge today and why?

Now I'm more than convinced this motherfucker is the Scumbag that I thought

I did wait to see his testimony and he sealed the deal within the first five minutes of his tirade. This guy had the balls to plagerize Clarence Thomas'

The guy is a sleaze and turd-bucket rolled into one. Did you see how arrogant
and aggressive he got with Klobuchar? That right there shows his true nature, and he was literally tripping over his own words. I saw this during the original hearings last week.
He gets totally tongue tied with Kamala Harris, who presses him on incomplete
non-answers. And he kept glancing over to (Fuckface) Grassley, who continuously struggled with keeping pace of the festivities. He kept thinking that Grassley was going to save him because he couldn't handle the pressure.
This is a judge!? What a maroon!
Outside of Dr. Ford's testimony, this so-called hearing was such a SHAM..e!
I knew that the Republicans (fucking cowards) had something up their sleeve
as they used the prosecutor from Arizona. They pushed her aside like so much trash, and they took over to make political speeches and point fingers at the Dems.
And anyone who thinks that Kavanaugh is innocent after that performance needs

Brett Kavanaugh and the Adolescent Aggression of Conservative Masculinity
https://www.newyorker.com/news/current/brett-kavanaughs-adolescent-tem
per-tantrum-before-the-senate-judiciary-committee
“I love Kavanaugh’s tone,” Donald Trump, Jr., tweeted fifteen minutes into Brett Kavanaugh’s opening statement in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He was referring to the judge’s wildly emotional performance, in which he alternated between shouting, as he blamed the Clintons and the Democrats for conspiring to torpedo his nomination to the Supreme Court, and weeping, as he spoke about the pain that he and his family have experienced in the weeks since accusations of sexual assault against him became public. Kavanaugh choked up and sobbed as he described his father’s detailed calendars, which apparently inspired his own calendar-keeping practice; he seemed unable to gain control over himself, gasping and taking frequent sips of water. The initial impression was of naked emotional vulnerability, but Kavanaugh was setting a tone. Embedded in the histrionics were the unmistakable notes of fury and bullying. Kavanaugh shouted over Dianne Feinstein to complain about the “outrage” of not being allowed to testify earlier; when asked about his drinking, by Sheldon Whitehouse, he replied, “I like beer. You like beer? What do you like to drink, Senator?” with a note of aggressive petulance that is hard to square with his preferred self-image of judicious impartiality and pious Sunday churchgoing. Lindsey Graham eagerly took up the angry-man mantle, using his allotted five minutes of questioning to furiously shout at his Democratic colleagues.
What we are seeing is a model of American conservative masculinity that has become popular in the past few years, one that is directly tied to the loutish, aggressive frat-boy persona that Kavanaugh is purportedly seeking to dissociate himself from. Gone are the days of a terse John Wayne-style stoicism. Now we have Trump, ranting and raving at his rallies; we have Alex Jones, whose habit of screaming and floridly weeping as he spouts his conspiracy theories is a key part of his appeal to his audience. When Kavanaugh is not crying or shouting, he uses a distinctly adolescent tone that might best be described as “talking back.” He does not respond to senators. He negs them. His response, when he is asked about his drinking, is to flip the question and ask the senators how they like their alcohol; his refusal to say whether he would coöperate with an F.B.I. investigation brings to mind a teen-ager stonewalling his parents. If Kavanaugh is trying to convince the public that he could never have been capable, as a teen-ager, of aggression or peer pressure, this is an odd way to go about it.---
He acted precisely like some entitled rich kid lying to his parents. Poor judgement makes for a poor judge.

Christine Blasey Ford finished testifying, and judging by Twitter and cable, the widespread consensus among neutral observers and even some Republicans has been that she was entirely credible. Ford was endearingly convincing in declaring that her only true motive in coming forward was to help the assembled senators — and the country.
Ford was cautious when navigating the perils of memory, and struck an oddly compelling balance by airing her own emotions while explaining them in the clinical language of a psychology professor.
Republicans avoided going hard at Ford in a way that might have alienated millions of suburban and college-educated white women who will decide the midterms. But what they did not count on was that Ford’s performance might have a force all its own, independent of whatever Republicans did or did not do to frame the day’s events.
I don’t know if the force of Ford’s performance will be enough to get two Republicans to oppose Kavanaugh’s confirmation. But if they do confirm him after Ford’s showing, it seems even clearer today that Republicans will indeed pay a big political price with suburban and college-educated white women.

Kavanaugh spouted off 4chan/Alex Jones conspiracy theory while testifying for a lifetime appointment in our federal government. “It’s the Clinton family and Dems making this stuff up.” He said that.
That old adage “When the facts are on your side, pound the facts. When the law is on your side, pound the law. Tribalism, Kavanaugh came out waving the flag of tribalism. He even said the Clintons' were somehow behind what was happening. I felt bad for him because his problems were alcohol based dating back to his teens, and he apparently got a handle on that. He did work hard and became quite the success. Only to see his past catch up to him on the eve of his coronation onto the Supreme Court, his dream come true.
However it can't be stated enough, he was asked 19 times to let the FBI take a few days to look into this and that's when his credibility vanished. He dodged the question each and every time and became belligerent. He is a judge who was denying and blocking due process. That's a head scratcher. This investigation could have taken place in as little as three days. Nope, he and the republicans want no part of that.
Another problem for Kavanaugh and the republicans, is that after the November elections if the democrats take back the house they will have subpoena power. Then the investigation will take place. The democrats have already said so. If that investigation shows the republicans knowingly put a sex offender on the Supreme Court the consequences could be disastrous. Think of the reaction of women if that happens.

Here is my 1 shot: all that talk yesterday made no difference. The vote is scheduled for 1:30PM ET today where it will be 11 Republicans vs 10 Democrats on the committee. I'm pretty sure I know how they will vote, already.
In the full Senate, Republicans do not currently have the votes to confirm Kavanaugh, multiple senior aides and senators tell CNN. But GOP leaders see a path to 50 votes -- meaning they could lose one Republican and have Vice President Mike Pence break a potential tie -- so they're going to gamble with a damaged nominee who is viscerally opposed by Democrats.

There's one thing that I think all (or nearly all) GOP Senators are on-board with, and that's the importance of getting a conservative Justice appointed. I'm trying to understand how they see their options
1) Hold a Senate vote next week. Unless they've counted their votes carefully, it could be a risky proposition. If they have the vote, they get their nominee on the Supreme Court, altho they might lose a few Senators in the process. Perhaps they've made that calculation and found an acceptable loss. However, if the vote FAILS, then all hell breaks loose for them: Not only do they not get the nomination but they have to start the process all over again ... certain not to be completed before November.
2) Toss this nominee overboard. But this winds up with the same calculus as not getting the vote next week- or even by November- with absolutely no chance of "success". This is not an option.
3) Request an FBI investigation. As I understand it, the FBI would basically interview additional people ... or perhaps even the same people that they interviewed earlier when they did their background checks ... and provide their reports with no conclusion about "guilt" or "innocence" (I don't know if they weigh in on credibility) to the DOJ, WH and from there to the Senate Committee. The Committee members would have to read the reports ("302s") and if there were outstanding questions they would still have to hold additional hearings and take additional testimony and they would STILL have to decide who to believe ... it's not up to the FBI to constantly recycle the "investigation" process because the Senate Committee can't do its job of holding hearings and gathering information and reaching a conclusion.
The Committee seems anxious to avoid interviewing Judge. Likely there's a lot to be learned about HIM, which may not be relevant to Kavanaugh but certain to taint Kavanaugh's nomination.
It would be interesting to read the (six) background checks that Kavanaugh has been through to see if they address the time, behavior, and friends of his earlier life, but we will never be privy to that information.
*****
FWIW, as I hear bits and pieces about the testimony, I gather that the prep school system is awash in alcohol, with hidden, unreported underage binge drinking going on for some girls as well as some boys. That is the privilege of being privileged white youth (Please don't think that Ford was any less privileged than Kavanaugh; after all SHE was going to Holton Arms Academy, a private "high school" where the current tuition is $30,000/ year.)
It sounds, overall, like a toxic atmosphere of privilege and license. You could be as good ... or as bad ... as your inclinations led. I speculate that Kavanaugh was "good" most of the time, which is why so many people from that time support him. But on occasion he drank too much, altho not habitually (otherwise he wouldn't have widespread support from the people who knew him). He might have been in the company of someone who drank ... a LOT ... possibly Judge. I can IMAGINE Kavanaugh being caught up in some of Judge's excesses... something the Committee seems intent on avoiding learning about.
Judge seems to be determined not to get in the way of Kavanaugh's approval, which is why he's hiding out. He has his sworn statement ("I don't recall") but seems anxious not to be questioned about that, or other possible incidents in his own history or Kavanaugh's.
I wonder what the yearbook says about Mark Judge?

I guess my suppositions about Judge were pretty correct .. he admits a history of binge drinking and (later) alcoholism.
Quote:
What the man accused of being part of Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual assault had to say about women’s sexuality
In two memoirs, Judge depicted his high school as a nest of debauchery where students attended “masturbation class,” “lusted after girls” from nearby Catholic schools and drank themselves into stupors at parties. He has since renounced that lifestyle and refashioned himself as a conservative moralist — albeit one who has written about “the wonderful beauty of uncontrollable male passion.”
... Judge never wrote about any sexual violence at those parties, nor did he mention Kavanaugh attending any. But Judge’s 1997 memoir, “Wasted,” references a “Bart O’Kavanaugh” character who passes out drunk and throws up in a car.

However, "lusting after" girls and masturbating are usually done without actual girls being present. So he hasn't admitted to any sort of sexual assault after-the-fact.

I was changing my mind about Kavanaugh ... not on the basis of the allegations, but on the basis of his response to the prospect of an FBI investigation. At one point (the point where I was listening) he said that he would do whatever the Committee wanted him to do, and then after that evaded the question.
I got the feeling that there was something hinky going on. It might have been about "guilt " or "innocence" but it also might have been about something political going on in the background. I felt that Kavanaugh might have been answering that question as directed by the Committee GOP, which is why his answers on that point seemed so inauthentic.
I couldn't see the political "down side" to an FBI investigation until now ...
According to the GOP. the Dems on the Committee REFUSED TO BE PART OF THE INITIAL INVESTIGATION, when the Committee was getting affidavits and information from various witnesses, because they had ALREADY decided that none of them were voting for Kavanaugh. But the last-minute allegations coming from left field (so to speak) were part of a Dem delaying tactic, and additional hearings and investigations are simply part of additional delaying tactic by the Dems ... not because it will change any of their votes or unearth any additional information, and not even because it will change the final outcome, but to KEEP THIS ISSUE BEFORE THE VOTERS FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE MIDTERMS.
RUSSIA!! RUSSIA!! RUSSIA!! didn't work. MOST people believe that it irrelevant to ... well ... anything, and the longer it's flogged (with no results) the less credible it becomes.
FURTHERMORE, the House and Senate want to make some revelations of their own, right before the midterms, particularly about the crooked basis of the RUSSIA!! RUSSIA!! RUSSIA!! investigation, and they don't want the Kavanaugh hearings/vote occupying the news cycle.
I think I get it now.

Yep. She's said Russia! more than anyone else on this forum lately. I'm sure Mueller has barely looked up.

Fwiw: this was never about finding out what actually happened - obviously. Frankly, I'm not sure, other than for optics, why they let Ford even speak. That back fired optics-wise, but as in all things about this none of that other stuff like optics and The Truth really mattered: the fix and the math was always going to win. Rudy should have said: "There are many Truths."
I have little doubt he did what she says he did. 98%-99%? More glaring than that was his display of lack of cool under pressure and the lying about even small things and simple childishness at his age, "oh yeah, but what about you?!? Do you like beer? I bet you do!" He proved to me that he does not have the character to be one of the top judges in the US.
But, none of that matters - math.

True enough.
I recall having to do a "background check" on someone that we were considering hiring. He had actually worked as a temporary in our lab ... not for me, but as a "floater" for two other groups.
So I did my due diligence and I asked one lady in one group who said "I think he fudged his numbers. I think he said that he cleaned and blanked sampling cans when he didn't."
Whoa, that's pretty serious! So I asked another person in another group what they thought and SHE said He said he ran a bunch of samples on the ion chromatograph but he didn't because I can't find the data anywhere.
Well! I told the manager what I;d find out ... I was ready to trash-can the guy ... fortunately he was a lot more "up" on what was going on in the other groups. He told the applicant what was said about him, and the applicant basically said I was running around with my hair on fire, trying to fill in for the other can-blanker who got fired and run the other instrument at the same time. THIS is the work that I did with the cans, and HERE is the data from the ion chromatograph.
It turns out that these two women (both Asians, and friends) had just taken a grotch against this (white male) guy for whatever reason and decided to torpedo his application. It's a good thing that manager followed up because this guy became one of our most productive and dedicated staff, and wound up getting promoted, twice.
And then there was this other guy, who was railroaded by the same Asian-lady gang. Yeah, this guy was sarcastic, and yes, he was kind of tough to take, but he did NOT touch women. Still, none of the evidence that was provided in his support was enough to overcome this rather calculated effort on their part, and so he was unjustly punished.

In the morning, the Republican senators used an outside prosecutor to try to pick apart Christine Blasey Ford’s credibility live on national television. They refused to subpoena Mark Judge, the key witness, or launch the FBI investigation Ford asked for. And after hearing her testimony, and judging it credible, they simply ignored it.
In the afternoon, those same senators feted Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the man Ford accused of attacking her. They cut off the prosecutor they hired in order to give speech after speech lamenting the way he and his family have suffered. They said they didn’t question that Ford’s assault was real, but perhaps her memory was flawed; whoever had assaulted her, could she really be trusted to say it was Kavanaugh?
Ford’s testimony was — by wide acclaim — powerful, specific, and gutting. She was a friendly witness, trying to answer questions, asking repeatedly for an investigation to help clear the holes in her own memory, thanking the committee for the consideration they gave her. Her expertise as a professor of clinical psychology kept shining through as she offered clear, powerful explanations of how trauma worked on the brain, how it had worked on her brain.
Even Fox News was impressed. “This is a disaster for the Republicans,” said Fox News’s Chris Wallace.
And then it was Kavanaugh’s turn.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina Republican, delivered an unforgettable performance. He was silent during Ford’s testimony, freely yielding his time to prosecutor Rachel Mitchell. During Kavanaugh’s testimony, however, Graham buoyed the witness and ripped into the Democrats. “This is hell,” he told Kavanaugh. The hearings were “the most unethical sham” he’d seen in his decades-long political career.
“To my Republican colleagues,” Graham spat, “if you vote no, you’re legitimizing the most despicable thing I have seen in my time in politics.” He meant that the "despicable thing" was Ford's testimony.

I've also said that fragmentary memories are difficult to recover without warping them in some way (see "false memory"); it's not her sincerity that I doubt, it's her accuracy. Avenatti says he will 'thoroughly enjoy embarrassing' Senate GOP for advancing Kavanaugh's nomination
Michael Avenatti, the attorney representing Julie Swetnick in her sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh, issued a stern warning on Friday to Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“Warning - If the committee advances the nomination this afternoon, my client and I are going to thoroughly enjoy embarrassing @ChuckGrassley @LindseyGrahamSC @tedcruz and all of the other GOP members on the committee this weekend when her story is told and is deemed credible,” he tweeted Friday afternoon.“And if you think I am bluffing, you have not been paying attention the last 7 months. I don’t traffic in nonsense. I traffic in facts and evidence,” he added.

Seriously.
Well, THAT merited a complaint to HR!
Another one was going thru a nasty divorce with her husband, who apparently wanted a younger model, and she was just pissed at men in general.
The two of them got together and not only did they file completely meritless complaints against the two (white hetero) males that I previously mentioned, one of them... the one with the "racially superior" math skills filed a discrimination lawsuit which was dismissed the moment it got to court.

Yes, Jeff Blake got cornered by a pair of women that laid into him and
read him the "riot act" about the message being sent to millions of women
across the country.
Democracy in action. They confronted him and spoke plainly and passionately,
convincing him that due diligence was called for, but that women's votes
matter. In the final analysis, he saw the logic in their request (and partially because he's retiring), reached out across the aisle to his friend
Senator Coons (and Klobuchar) and reached an agreement.
This was actually normal procedure way back about 20 years ago (roughly).
About the same time that the ugly right or Tea Party became a thing. How
refreshing to see the return of bipartisan politics...for the good of the
country.

You sound just like a bro.

Of course he was white! That's a pattern I've noticed. You don't get sarcasm and you fell for it.

The Kavanaugh affair has produced millions of words of comment. At this point, it’s a purely partisan fight.
I think pretty much everyone — Democrat and Republican alike — does know the truth of what happened: Christine Blasey Ford has no reason to make anything up. It’s also true that it happened 35 years ago, when Brett Kavanaugh was 17 years old. In a normal universe, Kavanaugh would have acknowledged what happened, apologized sincerely, and attributed it to “sort of a wild youth.”
And that would have been the end of it.
The vast majority of the country would have figured that, in the end, nothing serious happened and we shouldn’t blacklist people for stupid teenage activity that happened long in the past.
So why didn’t it happen that way? The main reason is that in Trumpland you don’t explain past problems. You simply deny them. That’s what Roy Moore did, despite the masses of evidence against him. That’s what Trump himself does, even if there’s literally video evidence showing he’s wrong. And so that’s what Kavanaugh did. He just denied anything happened, full stop.
Did he do that because it’s his natural instinct? Or because that’s the advice he got from the Trump team? Maybe Bob Woodward will tell us someday, but until then we don’t know. All we know is that this is the path he chose.

The rest of this quote is a great example of why you shouldn't use broad, sweeping generalizations. Only people living in an echo chamber believe that statement to be the truth.

I don't see many posters talking about Me Too. #MeToo is certainly a part of this, but that's not what I'm most concerned with (because unfortunately you can't go back and charge "Brettski" with attempted rape). It's a "who do we want on the Supreme Court," movement. The fact that male contempt and disrespect for women is such a big part of it is telling and sickening. We should be so much further along as a society. Get those old f*ckers off the stage! Term limits!

The sh*t you post! You were the one I called out for saying, "she's using false accusations..." and you couldn't stand up and be accountable for.... using sweeping generalizations that you also couldn't back up. "How do you know?" Silence.
And now more sweeping generalizations, "It's a MeToo thing."
Damn dude.

I wasn't silent. I was very clear when I said that given the high political stakes here and the fact that the illiberal, regressive Leftitst have made crying Rape one of their go-to moves along with calling everyone a Nazi, I would have been more surprised if he wasn't accused of rape than I am that he was.
Me saying that that this is a false accusation is not broad, nor is it sweeping. It's a very targeted accusation on my part. And as far as "how do I know?"
Let me put it this way. I have just as much evidence that she threw out a false accusation as she has backing up her accusation.
