So this is a bit interesting - Fox are working on a Buffy reboot TV series (which has Joss on board as a producer) and have taken back the Buffy comic book licence from Dark Horse:

BOOM! Studios today announced that the first-ever Firefly comic book letter column will launch in FIREFLY #1, arriving in comic shops on November 14th.
Please note that all letters received after October 15th will be considered for FIREFLY #2 or future issues of FIREFLY.
Letters received by October 15th will not only have a chance to make it in the inaugural FIREFLY #1, but will also have the opportunity to suggest a name for the shiniest new letter column in all the ‘verse.

The comics without Wash and Book do not sell as well. For example, Serenity: No Power In The ‘Verse #1 in 2016 reportedly sold an estimated 39,492 copies.
