A memory-jogger, to remind us of all of the things we were supposed to forget

Quote:

On the fourth of March, in the sleepy British cathedral town of Salisbury, an ex-spy named Sergei Skripal was poisoned by an assassin with the most deadly nerve agent known to man.

The Russian government was immediately blamed by a shocked and outraged world. Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson assured the people of Great Britain that “There’s no doubt” that Moscow was responsible. In a large and sudden leap forward in cold war escalations, Russian diplomats were thrown out of countries all around the globe, including my own Australia, in a show of solidarity with the United Kingdom. It was the largest collective ejection of Russian diplomats in history.

Two months after his earth-shattering assassination, as the world stared spellbound at the weekend’s immensely popular PR spectacle of a royal wedding, Sergei Skripal was quietly discharged from the hospital he’d been staying at. The BBC reports that he is walking and approaching complete recovery.

Wait a second. Haven’t I seen this Python skit before?

So to recap, an ex-spy who had been retired and strategically irrelevant for years was reportedly poisoned by the Kremlin with Novichok, a scary Russian-sounding word which refers to a group of extremely deadly and fast-acting nerve agents that start shutting down the body’s muscles and respiratory system within 30 seconds to two minutes. Except in the case of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia it was several hours with a leisurely stroll, a meal, and beers in between.

The poison was placed in Yulia Skripal’s suitcase. Actually no, they got that wrong, it was the air vents in their car. Wait, no, that doesn’t work either. Maybe it was administered via weaponized miniature drone! Wait, no, it wasthe family’s car door handle. Actually, scratch that, it was the front door of the house. Definitely the front door of the house. We’re absolutely sure. Either that or Sergei Skripal’s favorite Russian cereal. They were given 100 grams of Novichok. Wait, no, that’s ridiculous, we retract that. Okay, maybe we have no idea what happened. Oh hey, their pets were completely unaffected by the poison. Let’s incinerate them.

Oh, and Johnson’s claim that the Porton Down laboratory had assured him “There’s no doubt” that Russia was behind the poisoning? Turns out that was just a bald-faced lie; Porton Down said no such thing and it was never its job to make such an assessment. Johnson lied, and both the Foreign Office and British mainstream media attempted to cover it up; tweets were deleted, transcripts were re-written, and narratives were given a good spin of historic revisionism by asserting that the UK government’s unequivocal insistence that the Kremlin poisoned the Skripals had been merely a “suggestion”.

And now both Sergei and Yulia Skripal, alleged victims of a poisoning by highly trained assassins using the deadliest nerve agent ever created, are doing fine. But you’re still supposed to fear and hate Russia. Just don’t think too hard about it or remember too much.

Remember Aleppo?

I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t; corporate media outlets hardly ever talk about it anymore. It’s almost like they want us to forget the horror stories they told us about how the city that had been occupied by good, noble freedom fighters was about to be taken by an army of depraved psychopaths who wanted to rape women, burn children alive, and shoot civilians in their homes. Back at the tail end of 2016, though, it was all you ever heard about. The “fall of Aleppo”, they called it. If the west didn’t intervene to stop Damascus and Moscow from retaking East Aleppo from the good-hearted rebels, everyone there would be raped, tortured, and butchered by the soulless army of the Syrian government.

Well, Moscow and Damascus did recapture East Aleppo, and it turns out that everything we were told about it was a lie. The atrocities the Syrian Arab Army were accused of intending to commit p

That's a great article, and the funny thing is the people in here who would have agreed with me that it was a great article 10 or 12 years ago are the same ones who are going to call you a Commie for posting it today.

There's a lot more going on here than we think there is.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

We couldn't possibly be suggesting Google rewrites or deletes history.

That is not possible. Everything on the internet that Google points to is real, and if something cannot be easily found on the internet then it never happened and isn't true. Everybody knows that, you can Google it.

The basic premise of England poisoning the Skripals is so stupid. If you wanted to get citizens of the UK to rise up and be all anti-Russia, why in the world would you make up, "Let's poison an old Russian spy! One of their *irrelevant ones" and say Russia did it!" You think any Brit really cared?

What's really going on is you fools are being duped by the dangle of "Act now and achieve the perception of greater intelligence through alternative news!" You're buying the fish oil of journalism. They see a market group that isn't reading MSM and filling it with "whatever is the opposite or not in MSM." Hello Coke Zerohedge readers, drink up, the advertising community has your number.

Actually, the piece that I found most vomitous was VOX's propaganda on the upcoming rape of eastern Aleppo.

Well, eastern Aleppo "fell" and that area went dark. Suddenly NO reporting on it whatsoever! You can be sure that if even a hint of the massacre/rape that VOX was so lugubriously predicting had occurred, it would be all over our news like white on rice because ... Assad!!! By the absence of MSM news, I guess things must be going pretty well over there then.

As long as you insist that everything is the Republicans'/ Democrats' fault, then you fail to grasp the REAL problem with American politics.

Remember when Johnson made his "Aleppo Gaffe" and how at the time 99.9% of Americans had never heard of Aleppo before, but immediately everybody you talked to pretended that they knew what Aleppo was all along because they were afraid somebody would call them stupid if they didn't know?

Prime example of the problem we're dealing with on both sides here.

Yes. I considered it would help him garner votes in delegate-rich States, like CA, IL, NY, CO.
He was a far better candidate than the 2 Liberal Democrats from New York. And it would have been a historic correction in the direction of America.

If Johnson had won at least 35 of Trump's Electoral votes, the Election would have been sent to Congress to determine the winners, House electing President and Senate electing the VP, both from among the top 3 Electoral votegetters. Meaning Trump, Hilliary, or Johnson could have been President. And Pence, Sharpe, or Hilliary's running partner could have been VP.

The OP topics are quite recent. But they seem to be about stories changing perspective upon the whims of media.

I just ran across something which I had not heard about before, tho I should have.

Marine Colonel James Sabow was murdered 22 January 1991. It was to cover up covert Flight Operations to central and South America for CIA-sponsored airlift guns and drugs. But it was faked as a suicide after he vowed to fellow Officers he would fight against the Fake Charges against him.
If you had heard the news, you were supposed to forget about it after understanding that the widespread knowledge was that of suicide.
This was at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, Santa Ana CA.

Years later a forensic investigation found it was really a Homicide. By 1996 Bush41 was no longer President.
With the neverending controversies surrounding Clinton and the Military, maybe this case was expected to fall beneath the radar.

I had been aware of the circumstances around the death of Navy Lt Kara Hultgreen, and the subsequent cover-up by Clinton Spin Doctors and cronies. So I'm a bit ticked that this fell below my radar - but the timing may have been just off. I was in a different place, and very busy in 1991. This was after 1990's Kuwait Invasion.
