I'm eagerly awaiting the memo's release.

Dems have been trying different tacks to either block its release or dismiss its content. If I remember correctly, Adam Schiff tried two different tacks which contradicted each other:

1) There's no evidence behind the memo, and besides...
2) The info behind the memo is classified and therefore is (should be?) unknowable to the general public.

Like all releases, this one stands or falls on the weight of the evidence behind it. But seeing as how FBI-ers have been demoted, reassigned, or have "retired" from position on likely related matters, there's probably some truth behind the memo.

Knowingly using a fabricated, unvented source of material as the basis for a FISA warrant is a federal crime. There is no amount of finger-pointing, spin, crying, or deflection that can change this fact.

This is proof that elements within the DOJ/FBI purposefully concluded the Trump was going to be guilty of something, they just needed a reason to investigate. This is the exact opposite of how justice is supposed work in this country.

So then, what should be the next step(s)?

For one, find out the name of the FISA Court Judge who granted the Warrant to surveil Trump and associates, and has been hiding behind the veil of secrecy.

Then, find out how many and which other Warrants has this corrupt Judge granted?

The FISA Court rarely turns down a request for FISA warrant, no matter who the judge, so it's a systemic problem not an individual one. The whole FISA system needs to be revamped, including negating large parts of the so-called Patriot Act. In addition, that hub of electronic storage in Utah? IMHO needs to be dismantled. But those are stories for another day.

In reality, all any Congressional Committee can do is kvetch and finger-wag. A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR should be appointed by the DOJ to investigate the FBI, CIA, NSA, and wherever the responsibility leads. Specifically, the person(s) who wrote and signed the affidavit requesting the FISA warrant should be investigated and, if applicable, prosecuted. And since responsibility goes up the chain of command as well as sideways to other participants, the CoC needs to be held suitably accountable, up to and including Obama.

Jeff Sessions recused himself from the "Russiagate" investigation, but IMHO this is sufficiently separated from that so he should be able to get that Special Prosecutor going. Let's see if he puts on his big-boy pants and does what needs to be done.

There's something wrong with the process. Maybe it's "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely", but out of something like 35,000 FISA warrant requests, only a dozen or so have been turned down.

Ah, yes, here are the stats ... INCLUDING UNDER OBAMA

Quote:

FISA Court Has Rejected .03 Percent Of All Government Surveillance Requests
After last week’s revelations extensive National Security Agency surveillance of phone and internet communications, President Barack Obama made it a point to assure Americans that, not to worry, there is plenty of oversight of his administration’s snooping programs.

“We’ve got congressional oversight and judicial oversight,” he said Friday, referring in part to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), which was created in 1979 to oversee Department of Justice requests for surveillance warrants against foreign agents suspected of espionage or terrorism in the United States. But the FISC has declined just 11 of the more than 33,900 surveillance requests made by the government in 33 years, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. That’s a rate of .03 percent, which raises questions about just how much judicial oversight is actually being provided.

“The FISA system is broken,” Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, told the Journal. “At the point that a FISA judge can compel the disclosure of millions of phone records of US citizens engaged in only domestic communications, unrelated to the collection of foreign intelligence…there is no longer meaningful judicial review.”

You don't need to prove "intent" to void a warrant based on bad information. And once the warrant is voided, all of the information gathered under that warrant becomes inadmissible.

Also, you don't need to prove "intent" to indict people on security breaches. Altho Hillary got off scot-free for her illegal insecure server because Comey excused her on the basis of lack of intent, "intent" is not required for prosecution.

The word or implication of "intent" is completely omitted and vacant from the Federal Statute, US Criminal Code defining these crimes. Even a Lawyer of Hilliary's gutter-level comprehension would know that.

Does anybody know of a complete, itemized list of all the crimes committed by this cluster of clowns?
Including whoever lied to the Judge in US Court that these facts were not true.
All of the perjury, lying to Congress, lying to the President, maybe lying to FISC (the FISA Court).
Plus the felony leaking of classified and confidential info by Hilliary, her cronies, and various other Democraps and Libtards.

It is really difficult to keep track of the whole neverending laundry list of crimes and criminal actions.

And is anybody revisiting the decision (by Senate Majority Leader RINO Mr. Chao, IIRC) to not appoint Special Counsel?

Carter Page is hardly "an innocent American." I love how people have no clue of who he is or his history and yet rush to defend him. Do some reading.

Also, he is not the guy who was going to bring Trump down, so why Team Trump chose to circle their wagons over him is curious. Must have nothing else or because they got to say, "The Dossier" over and over and over. They know how well simple phrases work with their base. "Dossier? Hey Luther, isn't that French!?!"

So The Memo flopped, but cheer up, there's light ahead... wait for it... Phase II! Nunes is quickly trying to rush past the embarrassment that was Phase I. They're laughing stocks now, how much worse will it get with Phase II? I can't wait.

Fwiw: Trump obviously signed off on this joke, grabbed some fries and a Big Mac and went down to FLA and waited for the returns to see if there was enough outrage so could use it to justify firing Rosenstein. If you can't see that you have the brains of a turnip.

CRUNCH: So far, everything you posted has been wrong:

That the memo is meant to lead to indictment of various officials. WRONG: The memo makes the case for inadmissibility of evidence.

That one must have "malicious intent" to be prosecuted. WRONG: There are all kinds of security breaches and process crimes which do NOT require "intent"

That the Trump Administration is "circling the wagons" around Carter Page. WRONG: The memo exposes the deep state's acting against an elected President.

That the memo "flopped". WRONG: The memo has already had a significant impact on Americans of all parties (or none) and only extreme partisans and propagandists (such as yourself) would say otherwise.

You're building up quite a history of being stupid and irrelevant. Pretty soon, YOUR impact will be circling the drain.

I guess you missed the part where the FISA court was lied to, multiple times, as the FBI presented " intel " which wasn't vetted and actually was little more than paid for op-research by a political party ( Democrats ) , which is laughably the OPPOSITE of what is required for a warrant to be issued.

Didn't think so.

Well, to be fair: if you also lived in Russia, you would not be regularly exposed to procedural evidence legal, cop, investigation shows. Justice, integrity, Liberty would be new concepts for you to grasp as well.

What does Brenda think of all this?
And how is it being reported or spun in Canada?
Or ignored?

Not the sockpuppetry; but The Memo, the witch hunt, the Abuses of Power, the Malicious Persecution of innocent Citizens.
Is Kafka a celebrated character in Canada?

They have kooks who protest Australia Day, and are as anti Australia as the BLM kneel-for-the-flag types are anti-American here. Leftists are the same , everywhere. They're a cult.

ETA - No, that's not it. Comey is a deep stater as well, so his mocking of the release of the memo is very telling. He knows damn well this puts him under the spotlight and outs him as being complicit in the lies of the fake dossier and the entire process which was orchestrated by Hillary, with help from Obama and his admin.

Of what significance was it that Steele, not a US citizen, should feel so passionate about who the United States elects as its President ?

Oh, it seems he's clearly biased in his motivation to get dirt on Trump, that much is clear. Would Mr Steele feel equally passionate about Obama ? Hillary ?

And Steele being interviewed by an FBI official ( Ohr ) whose wife works for... who ? FusionGPS - the very people which corroborated in the op / research intel gather against Trump in the 1st place.

CLEAR conflict of interest here folks, and there's just no damn way anyone can deny that.

THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
February 2, 2018

The Honorable Devin Nunes
Chairman, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
United States Capitol
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Mr. Chairman:

On January 29, 2018, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (hereinafter “the Committee”) voted to disclose publicly a memorandum containing classified information provided to the Committee in connection with its oversight activities (the “Memorandum,” which is attached to this letter). As provided by clause 11(g) of Rule of the House of Representatives, the Committee has forwarded this Memorandum to the President based on its determination that the release of the Memorandum would serve the public interest.

The Constitution vests the President with the authority to protect national security secrets from it disclosure. As the Supreme Court has recognized, it is the President’s responsibility to classify, declassify, and control access to information bearing on our intelligence sources and methods and national defense. See, Dep of Navy v. Egan, 484 US. 518, 527 (1988). In order to facilitate appropriate congressional oversight, the Executive Branch may entrust classified information to the appropriate committees of Congress, as it has done in connection with the Committee’s oversight activities here. The Executive Branch does so on the assumption that the Committee will responsibly protect such classified information, consistent with the laws of the United States.

The Committee has now determined that the release of the Memorandum would be appropriate. The Executive Branch, across Administrations of both parties, has worked to accommodate congressional requests to declassify specific materials in the public interest. However, public release of classified information by unilateral action of the Legislative Branch is extremely rare and raises significant separation of powers concerns. Accordingly, the Committee’s request to release the Memorandum is interpreted as a request for declassification pursuant to the President’s authority.

The President understands that the protection of our national security represents his highest obligation. Accordingly, he has directed lawyers and national security staff to assess the declassification request, consistent with established standards governing the handling of classified information, including those under Section 3.1(d) of Executive Order 13526. Those standards permit declassification when the public interest in disclosure outweighs any need to protect the information. The White House review process also included input from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Justice. Consistent with this review and these standards, the President has determined that declassification of the Memorandum is appropriate.

Based on this assessment and in light of the significant public interest in the memorandum, the President has authorized the declassification of the Memorandum. To be clear, the Memorandum reflects the judgments of its congressional authors. The President understands that oversight concerning matters related to the Memorandum may be continuing. Though the circumstances leading to the declassification through this process are extraordinary, the Executive Branch stands ready to work with Congress to accommodate oversight requests consistent with applicable standards and processes, including the need to protect intelligence sources and methods.

Sincerely,
Donald F. McGahn II
Counsel to the President

Speaker of the House of Representatives

The Honorable Adam Schiff
Ranking Member, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

summarized

investigation into the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and their use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) during the 2016 presidential election cycle.

On October 21, 2016, DOJ and FBI sought and received a FISA probable cause order (not under Title VII) authorizing electronic surveillance on Carter Page
first certified by the Director or Deputy Director of the FBI
then approved by the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General (DAG), or the Senate-confirmed Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division.

The FBI and DOJ obtained one initial FISA warrant targeting Carter Page
requires probable cause
Director James Comey signed three FISA applications in question on behalf of the FBI, and Deputy Director Andrew McCabe signed one. Sally Yates, then-Acting DAG Dana Boente, and DAG Rod Rosenstein each signed one or more FISA applications on behalf of DOJ.

surveillance protection of American citizens dependst on the government’s production to the court of all material and relevant facts

1) “dossier”
a) funding by the DNC, Clinton campaign, or any party/campaign was not disclosed
b) application does not mention Steele was working on behalf of — and paid by — the DNC and Clinton campaign, or that the FBI had separately authorized payment to Steele for the same information.

2) Carter Page FISA application cited a Yahoo News article by Michael Isikoff, but the article is not independent corroboration since it was derived from information leaked by Steele himself to Yahoo News.
a) Steele was later terminated as an FBI source due to ongoing g actions during this time - Steele was an ongoing unreliable source
b) Steele said he “was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being president.” Steele himself was biased.
However, Steele's strong bias, which could have affected his credibility as a source, was not disclosed in the application.
a) DOJ Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr, ongoing, Ohr’s wife was employed by Fusion GPS to aid opposition research on Trump.
Ohr gave the FBI with all of his wife’s opposition research. The relationships between Steele, Ohr, his wife, and Fusion GPS were concealed.
4) Head of the counterintelligence division, Assistant Director Bill Priestap, judged corroboration of the dossier as "in its infancy" when submitted to FISA.
Later it was judged as only minimally corroborated.
Deputy Director McCabe testified before the Committee in December 2017 that no surveillance warrant would have been sought from the FISC without the Steele dossier information.

5) The Page FISA application also mentions information regarding fellow Trump campaign advisor George Papadopoulos, but there is no evidence of any cooperation or conspiracy between Page and Papadopoulos. The Papadopoulos information triggered the opening of an FBI counterintelligence investigation in late July 2016 by FBI agent Pete Strzok.

THIS was classified!??? My god, they'll classify ANYTHING!

And this reveals first of all, a concerted effort by biased individuals to use any pretext - no matter how flimsy - and skirt legal and ethical requirements - to pervert the process in order to 'get' Trump, for political motives. And second of all, how poorly we, the average US citizen, are protected from snooping by our so called justice system.

My first couple readings assumed the 4 FISA Warrants were all obtained on 21 October, and one was for Carter Page.
But it seems the 4 were for Carter Page. Initially on 21 October 2016. That would have expired by 19 January 2017. Next would expire 19 April. And next would expire 18 July.
Rod Rosenstein became DAG at the end of April 2017. So he would have been the DoJ signatory for the 4th application, the 3rd renewal.
Obamabot Sally Yates was DAG until 20 January, and then fired as Acting AG on 30 January. So while DAG, she must have been the DoJ signatory for the initial and first renewal.
Obamabot Comey was fired on 9 May, so he was the FBI signatory for the initial and first 2 renewals, and McCabe was for the 3rd renewal.

By 16 October 2017, there was apparently not additional application.

That was my takeaway from it.

What's scary to me is that in an effort to continue the fight against Trump, the MSM is actually getting people to say that there was nothing in the memo.

Wake up people. This has NOTHING to do with Trump at this point. If you were against the Patriot Act like I was, and I know a lot of you were, then this should be very worrisome to you.

In fact, declassifying and releasing this memo may very well be the best thing Trump does as president, even though he did it for his own agenda.

I keep forgetting to mention that I don't recall why The Memo has been referred to by some as The "Nunes" Memo. The authors of The Memo are the STAFF of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Majority Party members.
Nunes is only the Chairman of the Committee, not the STAFF of the Majority.
Who attached the Nunes label to it?

Your Libtard dismissal of this criminal orchestration of maliciously persecuting innocent American Citizens belies your abysmal ethics, morality, and integrity. The common, everyday occurrence and practice you imply it is or should be, it is not - nor should it ever be, despite the totalitarian and dictatorial hopes of you and other Libtards.

You, yourself have rendered your opinion moot in the Land of Liberty, Justice, and Freedom.

Also, are you endorsing Fox News as the only presenter of Real News, the Real Facts, Real Truth, all while the MSM has been furiously avoiding, denying, spinning any semblance of this actual HISTORIC Real News Story?
In unrelated news, a flock of pigs was sighted in the skies of NYC.....

EVEN WRONGER: I never said "it was meant to lead to indictment of various officials." Thanks for making sh*t up.

technically, correct. Your post did not specify this, but your "you can't fire people for hating Trump" does imply you were under the same Delusions as others claiming the indictment red herring. And you seemed ignorant of the purpose of The HPSCI Staff Memo. Both of which Signym attempted to help you understand your errors.
Quote:

That one must have "malicious intent" to be prosecuted. WRONG: There are all kinds of security breaches and process crimes which do NOT require "intent"

EVEN WRONGER: I never said "one must have "malicious intent" to be prosecuted."

The part where you said "if you can find and prove malicious intent you might have something" might be where you said "malicious intent" - despite your lying denials.
Quote:

That the Trump Administration is "circling the wagons" around Carter Page. WRONG: The memo exposes the deep state's acting against an elected President.

EVEN WRONGER: In truth, the memo actually shows the FBI acting appropriately to find the connections between a presidential campaign staffer and a foreign adversary.

Felony falsifying evidence, Felony ommission of facts in Application to Court, Felony lying to FISA Court, Felony fraudulent Application for Warrant - these Felony Federal Crimes do not qualify as "appropriate actions" by FBI, Officers of The Court, or anybody else. Your proclamation that they ARE renders your view imbecilic.
Also, manufacturing or fabricating "the connections" is not the same thing as "find the connections".
Quote:

That the memo "flopped". WRONG: The memo has already had a significant impact on Americans of all parties (or none) and only extreme partisans and propagandists (such as yourself) would say otherwise.

EVEN WRONGER: The memo has had impact on Trump Cultists only, as most of us knew beforehand.

Almost intriguing that you, of the most delusional of Libtards and Democraps, would pretend to speak for a majority of rational, reasonable, critically thinking, non-Libtard undelusional American Citizens.
More accurately, all Americans who believe in Freedom, Liberty, Rule of Law, Bill of Rights, The Constitution, and presumption of Innocence are impacted, and only you ultra-Libtards are immune to Facts. Just like Signym stated in other words.

OK, very simply, this is a complete fabrication of a quote that you have invented. No surprise that FAKE QUOTES are what you resort to, since all facts and truths prove you wrong.

And next will be self-congratulation on your lies, denials of truth, Fake Quotes, plus red herrings, diversions, deflections, spin, and further delusions of the Libtard Mantra:

RIGHT!

Face it - it was just another stunt that failed. Trump sure must be terrified of something (Mueller?). We'll see if he releases the Dem's Memo and what that has to say Monday. I wonder if he will? He's kind of in a bind - he sure looks guilty if he doesn't, and it will likely cut this memo off at the knees if he does (to any non-cult member that is).

The return of somebody with syntax confusion.

The democrats, the FBI, and the State Department are Trump's biggest boosters. Instead of formulating a coherent, overt, political response to republicans, their machinations only make them look worse - and Trump look good by comparison.

Just so that we get the news that's Fair and Balanced......

Quote:

Trump’s approval rating during his first year in office stayed between 35% and 45%, the worst of the seven most recent presidents, according to Gallup. Nonetheless, a late 2017 Gallup poll found that Trump is the second-most admired man in the U.S., after only his predecessor, Barack Obama.
An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll from around the same time, however, found that only 36% of registered voters would support Trump for reelection in 2020.
In the latest Rasmussen poll, which dropped just a few days after Trump’s first State of the Union address, 35% of respondents said they “strongly approve” of Trump’s performance, versus 38% who “strongly disapprove.”

You won't get any arguments from me on either. If the Republicans could have run someone other than one of the 17 clowns that ran I would have easily voted against her. And now we have this huge moral vacuum that Trump has created and no one from the Dems to fill it. A wasted opportunity. But seriously, is anyone surprised? I think the point has been skirted. While 1kiki did as she says, she doesn't admit to waging war on Clinton during the election while giving Trump, the worst of the two candidates, a pass. She only spoke about Trump on rare occasions. Smooth but deceitful. Her way of campaigning for Trump.

Thing is, he had good reviews for his state of the union speech. Well, kinda good. Yet this memo thing stepped all over that in a big way it was such a dud.

And as time goes by it gets worse. The ways in which this was reckless and political by the republicans are still being expanded upon.

I guess you missed the part where the FISA court was lied to, multiple times, as the FBI presented " intel " which wasn't vetted and actually was little more than paid for op-research by a political party ( Democrats ) , which is laughably the OPPOSITE of what is required for a warrant to be issued.

Nunes claims there's no evidence Papadopoulos ever met Trump despite photo

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) in a Monday morning interview said there is no evidence former Trump campaign advisor George Papadopoulos met with President Trump, despite a widely-disseminated photo of the two sitting around the same table for a meeting.

"If Papadopoulos was such a major figure, you had nothing on him, you know, the guy lied," Nunes told "Fox & Friends." "As far as we can tell, Papadopoulos never even knew who - never even had met with the president."

Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy advisor to the Trump campaign, is included in a photo that shows then-candidate Trump and then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) sitting at opposite heads of a table.

The president’s lawyers are playing a weak hand here. If they decline an interview and Mueller issues a subpoena, Trump has to testify without benefit of counsel. With the Starr precedent to back him up, all Mueller has to do is give them a simple choice: Trump can testify either voluntarily with counsel or under subpoena without counsel. What’s it going to be?

Trump is on thin ice for another reason: he can tweet all he wants about this being a witch hunt, but this investigation isn’t being run by Democrats and Mueller wasn’t appointed by a bunch of liberals. Unless you believe that the FBI is a hotbed of socialism — and nobody believes that except for Trump’s true believer fans — this whole thing is a conservative show from start to finish. Hillary Clinton isn’t involved. Nancy Pelosi isn’t involved. Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders aren’t involved. There’s just no way to credibly paint this as a partisan inquisition.

Guilty as charged: I primarily listen and read sources that I believe make the most sense. I don't think they are always right, but they are to me obviously more intelligent and truthful and abide by older, more honorable codes of professional and responsible journalism than Fux, Zero, rt, Breitbart, New Republic, and others.
