Also, it doesn't make a lot of sense to blame people for problems not of their making.
None of the steel workers in Buffalo were responsible for closing the mills. And while we're at it, the chemical plant workers didn't individually or as a group close the chemical plants, and no ordinary worker closed the TriCo plant or the Ford axle plant. And once industry was gone, no individual was responsible for the follow-on economic devastation as tool and die plants, jobbers, transportation ... department stores, restaurants, movie theaters ... dairies, butcher shops, grocery stores ... and so on ... shut down for lack of business.
At one time the steel mills alone employed 1 in every 10 people (that includes children, grandparents, and homemakers). Or if you want to estimate, 1 in 2 or 3 working adults.
No individual, and no local effort, could compensate for that job loss. People took a major economic hit, but not because they were individually bone-headed.
How did your beloved 'democratic' party fuck up so badly?

It sure wasn't my fault that I had to teach my job to some guy from India who went back and taught 5 other people how to do it when my salary was divided up between them.
The only job I've been offered in the last 5 years that would be considered a livable wage was a roofing job. That would only be seasonal where I live, and my knees gave out on me years ago for that kind of daily work.
My only real option for employment at the moment since 95% of my money is in my house is to figure out which minimum wage job I will hate the least.

Well, first you have to recognize when a wanna-be leader is lying. The problem is, if they're telling you what you want to hear, or if you identify with them as belonging to 'your side', the tendency is to not ask for proof, or even evidence, or even more, to look the other way if you see contrary evidence. You need to be in a mental place to acknowledge all the facts, not just the stories you're partial to.
The other thing is, you have to be willing to discuss what lies your side is telling you as compared to what lies the other side is telling you - and see which are more consequential in the grand scheme of things. And by 'grand scheme' I don't mean 'd' v 'r' --- or young v old, white v other, native born v immigrant, or purple v orange, or whatever devision gets dreamt up. But to see if those lies are covering up something that's detrimental to a reasonable future for ourselves and our posterity.
