Trump & Me by Mark Singer

-an-extremely-funny-profile
/

This is a journalist’s account of the ordeal of spending time with Donald Trump, and it is often very funny indeed, for it turns out that Trump’s elaborately sculpted hairweave is by no means the weirdest thing about him. Like any true narcissist and mountebank, Trump often talks of himself in the third person, and like some very rich men, he views women as commodities to be traded when marital sentiment turns bearish. When Singer asks him if he confides in anyone during moments of tribulation, he replies: “Nobody, it’s just not my thing.” So then what, Singer asks, is Trump’s notion of ideal company – well, comes the reply, “a total piece of ass”.

My favourite little detail concerns a Renoir – La Loge – that hangs in Trump’s monstrous 53-room triplex that sits atop Trump Tower with its blue-onyx lavatory, two-storey dining room with ivory frieze, and its general air of being there to be photographed by lifestyle magazines rather than to be lived in. Singer assumes the Renoir must be original, and Trump himself does nothing to disabuse him. Only later does Singer separately discover that it was a copy, and that the original hangs in the Courtauld in London.

Ultimately, you almost feel sorry for Trump, with his “suspicion that an interior life was an intolerable burden” and his germophobe’s terror of shaking hands with the great unwashed he claims to represent.

Trump’s fake La Loge (The Theater Box) original painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 1874

You claim Hillary is a mass murderer. That is like claiming Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of State for Bush, is a mass murderer. All the blame for any murdering the USA did is Obama’s and Bush’s and their military and their Secretaries of Defense. The blame is not Hillary’s or Condi’s. Those two women didn’t give any kill orders and didn’t pull any triggers. It was the men who did the killing and ordering the kills.= SECOND
Spoken like a true sexist. Because women are just nice, but ineffective characters who have no influence on foreign policy??? SECOND, Libya- as pretty much EVERYONE has acknowledged - was Hillary's project. And Ukraine was Victoria "fuck the EU" Nuland's project, and 'Toria was Hillary's project.

Hillary wasn't just some helpless female wringing her hands in the background, she was advocating for war, war, war. And what did she think of the result??

Wow, it looks like she got the best damn present ever!

Please, don't come crying to me later when it turns out so much worse than you imagined.

Besides, who needs warning? I asked you before to identify any staunch Clinton fans on this board and you did your usual silent act. If you want to do something meaningful vote 3rd party. Trump is only for Trump.-GSTRING
It doesn't matter how anyone "feels" about their vote, the only thing that matters is who you vote for. Staunch or not, if you vote for Hillary that's what counts. Your challenge is irrelevant and pointless.

I'll tell you what I DON'T like about Trump: I think that he has never confronted either the international banking cartel, nor the CIA-State Dept multi-headed hydra, nor the military-industrial complex. The last person to confront them was JFK (BTW, ALL immigration was illegal under JFK) and look what happened to him.

The killing has gone on and on ever since Hillary left both the Senate and Obama’s cabinet. To make it as blunt as I can: the killing continues despite Hillary neither ordering more killings nor repeatedly pulling the trigger. It has always been the fault of Obama or Bush and their Defense Dept., never Hillary or Condoleezza Rice, the Secretaries of State.

Obama surely shares fault, but Hillary is not blameless.

The State Department and the CIA are today like conjoined twins: USA embassies (State Department) are CIA outposts. Embassy staff are dual-employees: the secretary, the cook, the driver, various staff work for both the CIA AND the State Department. For purposes of plausible deniability, State doesn't know- except in some instance - who works for the CIA, but the head of State knows, in general, that the CIA is embedded in embassies worldwide. I can point to many instances where this has been shown to be true - most recently, a CIA-operative injuring an embassy guard while trying to make his way in at night while remaining unidentified - and everybody in the business knows this to be the case because, well, all the major powers do the same thing.

And the drone program is a joint CIA-military operation. (Originally, it was just the CIA.) Having CIA participation means that oversight is non-existent, and the dual chain of command confuses things and pisses off the military.

But Hillary's great success was getting FORMAL MILITARY involvement in destroying Libya, which Obama regrets to this day. There was a gun-running program, overseen by Ambassador Stevens, an "experienced" diplomat (i.e. he was "read in to" and fully involved with CIA operations), from Benghazi to Syria via Turkey. He was AT the CIA annex just the day before he was killed, according to his diary.

Now, either Hillary is a completely ignorant bitch who was bamboozled by her CIA/State -neocon contacts into destroying Libya, and stupid enough to excitedly bounce in her seat and laugh about the results ...

Or she was a fully-read-in bitch who destroyed Libya with forethought and malice, and was evil enough to excitedly bounce in her seat and laugh about the results.

Stupid or evil? Evil or stupid? Or both?

Obama regrets Libya
Quote:

Obama called Libya “a mess,” blaming, in part, the European coalition, led by British prime minister David Cameron, for not doing enough to re-stabilize the country after toppling Gaddafi. But he also blamed his own analysts for failing to understand the deep, pre-existing tribal divisions in Libya,
Something I pointed out at the time, similar to the factions in Ukraine

Quote:

factions that regained strength without the presence of an authoritarian regime, turning the country into a hotbed of religious extremism and a breeding ground for ISIS. (Privately, Atlantic interviewer Jeffrey Goldberg reported, Obama called the Libya situation a “shit show” that proved the U.S. had no business attempting to govern the Middle East and North Africa.)

Obama’s comments highlight a growing divide with Clinton as she seeks to win the Democratic presidential nomination. As secretary of state, Clinton was one of the strongest proponents of the U.S. intervention in the Libyan civil war against Gadhafi; according to the New York Times, the decision to commit military assets to ending the dictator’s 42-year-old regime was “arguably her moment of greatest influence as secretary of state.” While Obama has now pointed to that decision multiple times as one of his biggest regrets, he has also used the same logic to defend his reticence to intervene in Syria, where Clinton has urged a more militaristic approach, including a no-fly zone.

Hillary, you may recall, supported the invasion of Iraq (and is endlessly quoted by the right-wingers here as justification for the invasion) and also clearly supported the coup in Ukraine. Her former home,

If the Russian president could design a candidate to undermine American interests—and advance his own—he’d look a lot like Donald Trump.
www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/cover_story/2016/07/vladimir_
putin_has_a_plan_for_destroying_the_west_and_it_looks_a_lot_like.html

Vladimir Putin has a plan for destroying the West—and that plan looks a lot like Donald Trump. Over the past decade, Russia has boosted right-wing populists across Europe. It loaned money to Marine Le Pen in France, well-documented transfusions of cash to keep her presidential campaign alive. Such largesse also wended its way to the former Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi, who profited “personally and handsomely” from Russian energy deals, as an American ambassador to Rome once put it. (Berlusconi also shared a 240-year-old bottle of Crimean wine with Putin and apparently makes ample use of a bed gifted to him by the Russian president.)

There’s a clear pattern: Putin runs stealth efforts on behalf of politicians who rail against the European Union and want to push away from NATO. He’s been a patron of Golden Dawn in Greece, Ataka in Bulgaria, and Jobbik in Hungary. Joe Biden warned about this effort last year in a speech at the Brookings Institution: “President Putin sees such political forces as useful tools to be manipulated, to create cracks in the European body politic which he can then exploit.” Ruptures that will likely multiply after Brexit—a campaign Russia’s many propaganda organs bombastically promoted.

If Putin wanted to concoct the ideal candidate to serve his purposes, his laboratory creation would look like Donald Trump. The Republican nominee wants to shatter our military alliances in Europe; he cheers the destruction of the European Union; he favors ratcheting down tensions with Russia over Ukraine and Syria, both as a matter of foreign policy and in service of his own pecuniary interests. A Trump presidency would weaken Putin’s greatest geo-strategic competitor. By stoking racial hatred, Trump will shred the fabric of American society. He advertises his willingness to dismantle constitutional limits on executive power. In his desire to renegotiate debt payments, he would ruin the full faith and credit of the United States. One pro-Kremlin blogger summed up his government’s interest in this election with clarifying bluntness: “Trump will smash America as we know it, we’ve got nothing to lose.”

Which a few of us guessed earlier as an explanation for why the Pointless Sisters keep bashing Hillary (she'll start a nuclear war - do you want that??) and saying more or less positive things about Trump. "I'll probably vote Trump" despite mountains of previous posts in direct opposition to almost everything he stands for.

These accusations always come with insults for anyone who disagrees (tell me something new) and with faks ™ that the posters can't possibly know with the certainty they profess (tell me something else new). "She destroyed Libya!" None of these events were hers alone, and none of them were US alone. There are multiple peoples - greedy as f*ck for power - on many sides all hoping to feed at the same trough.

I like the fact that Russia fears her. You know that if she weren't considered a "war monger" and she became president, the weak, less mature male leaders of the world would think they could manipulate her and frighten her, her being a girl and all. Good for them to worry about her popping off and blowing the sh*t out of them.

There is nothing about America that SIG and KIKI like; nothing. That in itself is un-American.

Trump is a great admirer of Vladimir Putin. Trump’s devotion to the Russian president has been portrayed as buffoonish enthusiasm for a fellow macho strongman. But Trump’s statements of praise amount to something closer to slavish devotion. In 2007, he praised Putin for “rebuilding Russia.” A year later he added, “He does his work well. Much better than our Bush.” When Putin ripped American exceptionalism in a New York Times op-ed in 2013, Trump called it “a masterpiece.” Despite ample evidence, Trump denies that Putin has assassinated his opponents: “In all fairness to Putin, you’re saying he killed people. I haven’t seen that.” In the event that such killings have transpired, they can be forgiven: “At least he’s a leader.” And not just any old head of state: “I will tell you that, in terms of leadership, he’s getting an A.”

That’s a highly abridged sampling of Trump’s odes to Putin.

I've been hoping Trump cannot get elected,
because very few republicans even like him.

A Putin Fan Boy? :shudder:

For us who remember Hitler & Stalin, Putin doesn't seem
so bad. Maybe he is as bad, but we can't see it.

I've given up looking for the meaning of life. Now all I want is a cookie.

No fortunately I don't believe Putin is anything like Hitler or Stalin. At least not in this day and age. What would Putin have been like then. I shudder to think.
