Wonder if they plan on keeping Nathan or killing the show? It sounds like they intend for it to go on...

Too bad. She is nice eye candy as well.
But the story said "aging" show, so maybe they think the 2 actresses are getting too old. I don't see that. But what does it say for feminists when a girl who gets promoted (to Captain) must get killed off?

But after all, the show was "Castle", not "Beckett"

I think it had less to do with aging and more to do with Stana getting married IRL and not particularly liking making out with Nathan. There seems to be some ethical thing going on if you ask me. One or both of them is just not comfortable with the spouse role.

I'd watch if it were just Nathan and family, but I think it needs to be done anyway.

PS Nice try on pushing your agenda into it though. I really really don't care what you think about feminists. Not even for a second....

It has nothing to do with feminism, and everything to do with Stana's salary. All shows get more expensive as they age since the stars ask for more money to stick around each year. It went down to the wire last year for whether or not Nathan or Stana would sign a new contract. She settled for a year's extension, which has now expired. I would assume she has other opportunities to explore or else they might have come to an agreement for at least partial involvement in Season 9. Tamala Jones is also out, but they have Arye Gross as another ME.

The only reason I kept watching was because of Nathan, and they've messed up Caskett so many times their relationship was never that important for me. There's really nowhere else for them to go with it anyway, except for them to have a kid, but that wouldn't work if she wasn't around. If they decide to kill Kate off, then Rick, Alexis and Haley go after whoever is responsible, with Ryan and Esposito as occasional backup, but the 12th Precinct would then just be peripheral to the main story lines.

Whichever way they go, this might be my last year of watching it.

Sorry to confuse. I was sympathizing with the feminist front that gets the rug pulled out from under them. I expect I was not clear.

Hopefully, they'll just let the show go.

I haven't watched regularly for a few seasons now, but tried to get back into it. It didn't interest me whatsoever. Even the eps with Adam and Summer were meh to me.

The show really does need a shake up. It's running on fumes this season. Maybe killing Kate is a good way to go. Though I suspect that will mark a huge ratings decline and spell the end for the show anyway. Kinda like that weird last season of scrubs with a different lead character. It will probably be a last ditch effort that will mostly be forgotten.

The main problem with the show this year is the new show-runners, who seemed to think putting Castle and Beckett at odds was a good way to go. Not to say that wouldn't have happened if Marlowe had remained in charge, but it alienated a lot of the fan base, and this will only make it worse.

Well, Nathan has put his two cents in. Guess he's still up for it.

“Castle has been one of the greatest joys of my creative life, and I hope the show continues in for years to come. Stana has been my partner all this time, and I thank her for creating the character of Beckett. I wish her well, and have no doubt she will succeed in everything she pursues. She will be missed.”

Polite, but distancing. Boy, would love to know some of the backstory here...

I have heard rumors that Nathan and Stana don't get along, although I'm not sure who is the more guilty for that happening, and they seem to hide it well on the show. Most actors are temperamental, probably even arrogant, and they don't like it when things don't go their way. We might not get the full story for a while, if ever.

There are just four more episodes for the season, and I'm sure they are all filmed by now, but the producers are talking about a possible alternate scene depending on whether they get another season. What happens if ABC doesn't let them know before that time?
