It would be nice if there were such things as heaven and hell. But sadly many evil people will live long, comfortable, privileged lives and die peacefully in their beds, surrounded by loved ones and cronies, with all the comfort the best medicine can provide. While many honorable people and innocent children will live short brutish lives and die agonized, untended lonely deaths.

And that I think is the injustice we all face.

SAGAN: We are releasing vast quantities of carbon dioxide, increasing the greenhouse effect. It may not take much to destabilize the Earth's climate, to convert this heaven, our only home in the cosmos, into a kind of hell.

One thing I realized in my rather longish life, having seen a few people die and knowing several others who've passed away is that death comes to everyone. And since death comes to saints as well as criminals, it's not a form of "justice". It's not death that counts, it's what happens BEFORE that. Did this person have enough to eat? Were they safe? Did they feel loved? Were they able to exercise agency over their own lives? THAT'S what counts.

The bitch made it so I can't smoke weed and hold a good job so I have to drink so much alcohol it poisons my liver and the rest of my body to compensate, but "Hell"?

I can think of several people in my family, and quite a few people otherwise close to me that would be much more deserving of such a horrific afterlife...

I'm not saying that Nancy Reagan is not worthy of such a dark eternity or not, but what is your bone with her that you, if you were "God", would relegate her to such a fiery pit for the rest of eternity?

Well said..............as an aside, I think Hell is right here on Earth, perpetuated by those who live in the lap of luxury.

Agreed. I still hold out hope for that Great leveler of human kindness and human suffering - Karma, but alas my emotion sometimes gets the better of me. It is what you do that counts more than what you accumulate in life, unless what you accumulate is good works.
