Episode ten of my second season of Firefly: On their way back from the very edge of the known 'verse, the crew of Serenity encounters a derelict ship that claims to be from Earth.

Disclaimer: If I weren't just a poor college student and could finance the series myself, I would, but I can't. So all I can do is just play around in Joss Whedon's 'verse. Also, I don't know a lick of Chinese so I haven't bothered to put the translations because they're probably horribly wrong. If it were Japanese or Latin, well, that'd be another story...
Episode ten of my second season of Firefly: On their way back from the very edge of the known 'verse, the crew of Serenity encounters a derelict ship that claims to be from Earth.

Mr. Khan stared through the reinforced window and into the brightly lit, stark white, padded cell. He ran a well manicured finger along his lips in contemplation as he viewed the sedated form in the cell. There was no one but him in the observation room, standing in the darkness lit only by the flickering lights on consoles. The sound of computers beeping as they measured and monitored were his only company for the time being. His mind was working ten times faster than any of them, however.
The hiss of automatic doors opening broke Mr. Khan's concentration. Tearing his eyes away from the docile subject in the cell, he spotted Dr. Leeds shuffling nervously into the empty lab. Khan's eyes slid off the spineless slug of a man and refocused their attention back on the subject.
"Ni-hao," said Dr. Leeds softly, rubbing his hands together against the frigid cold of the environment. Catching sight of the subject, he went as white as his lab coat. In haste to readjust his small, wire-framed spectacles, he nearly knocked them from his gaunt face. "Th-th--that's..."
"It is indeed," nodded Mr. Khan impassively. His eyes sparkled with interest as the subject finally began to stir.
"Is--is this safe?" swallowed Dr. Leeds thickly, pushing back further from cell. Leeds's legs gave out the moment they brushed against a console and he crumbled against it. "Th-this can't be a-approved..."
Khan gave him a bal
And thank God you're addressing Saffron's secret in the next ep, the wondering is driving me crazy. ;P
Also, I think I've figured out who the mystery character is going to be, and if it's who I think it is... well, can't wait!

Aren't Simon's parents on Eden-Two? If so, why didn't we see them?
River and Random playing together was wonderful and how Zoe understood Fenchurch's loss and indentified with it was wonderfully done.
Eagerly awaiting the next installment. Simon meeting the in-laws should be interesting to see. . . and someone who might make an enemy out of him? hmm. . .

Nice story, although it would have been nice to seen a smashed up Big headed Marvin. And finally someone Zoe can share her pain with :(

And I am glad Zoe found someone to talk to about widow's grief. While I know the crew is there for Zoe, none have the same kind of experience Zoe had with being married except our guest star Fenchurch. And yeah, probably better to let our imaginations ponder what was said between the two women. Even an omnimpotent POV of a narrator would kinda lessen the impact....
And honestly, should I be picturing Ricardo Montalban''s Khan Noonien Singh...cuz your Mr. Khan just strikes me as being eerily similiar...and honestly, a Eugenics War seems compatible with the Earth-being-used-up background Joss provided.
Simon's folks aren't on Eden-Two. They're still with Dr. Hikari, Melody, and everyone else from Cadmus. Even if they were though, they wouldn't be there for a meet.
And as for Mr. Khan, he's sort of a cross between Ricardo Montalban's Khan and Shiwan Khan from the Shadow pulps and graphic novels...and yes, even from the movie. Strong, very smart, ageless, but most importantly: Diabolical.
I'm new to this fanfic thing so I have spent the last few days playing catch-up and reading these episodes. Your series is one of my favourites, almost like having the tv series back.
I sometimes imagine what might have happened after Miranda, and if Joss can't bring us the answers then this is the next best thing.

A couple of things I've noticed, both good, bad, and just interesting. You're kind of making Eden-Two a bit like the West of Middle-Earth from Tolkien's books--the elves return to the West to live out their days in bliss (their version of heaven) which is very similar to what Eden-Two is here. Not sure if that was intentional or not, but it's interesting.
Kyo is a good foil to River, though I do wonder exactly why, other than the casualty rate being so high, that Project Gilgamesh was resurrected using living children vice attempting it again with genetically engineered children like Kyo. Surgery vs. genetics seems like a step backwards, in a way, but it obviously worked to an extent. Just my two cents. Oh, and why couldn't they clone Kyo and Mirage? They survived the disease; wouldn't their clones be resistant?
Every now and then I get the sense that something got chopped out that was supposed to be there, almost like there's a missing link between two scenes. I'd have to go back and look more carefully to find the exact spots, but it was noticeable. Sometimes it felt like the characters were acting like something had been said that wasn't in the story, or like a bit of description had been left out. It could be that I'm reading too fast and missing something, but I don't think so. Another revision would clean it up easily; not a big deal at all.
While I enjoy the bringing of pop culture from other realms into the 'verse, you can get a bit carried away (I was groaning a little when I found Mal under the command of Sergeant Nick Fury of the Howlers...just a little much for me was all, and I make mine Marvel). You've got a great imagination; take some cues from yourself and see what happens.
I'm really enjoying reading your work so far, almost as much as ScrewTheAlliance's stuff. I'm only throwing the constructive criticism in because I like to write as well and it gets old for me to hear, "Oh, that was awesome," with no ideas for how to make it better than an arbitrary awesome, since sublime is the ultimate goal for me.
That said, great job; looking forward to seeing more.
