A/N Okay, I wrote this as a Mal/Simon fic, but you might as well apply it to Simon/Kaylee. Whichever you like better. Thanks to Lvs2read for beta-reading.

The moon, just the moon and the singing stream,

The green grass that is soft like mink,

The tiny stars on the velvet sky now gleam,

He sits there, smiling as he thinks.

He does not see the silver rivulet,

He does not hear the whisper of the breeze,

He thinks of his love and of when they met,

The angel he adores, in whom perfection sees.

They are so different, and yet so alike.

Both broken by cruel life and fiendish fate.

For what they believe both would fight.

Both love with as much passion as they hate.

He loathes the gods for all they've done,

Despises them for his sister's pain,

But thanks them for his beloved one,

Without whom he might have gone insane.

A crystal tear escapes and falls,

As he returns to this present day.

He sits as love repairs his soul,

And for the one he loves he quietly prays.
