Seeing as how I've seen a notable of a Firefly lunchbox, I've sort of become obsessed with making my own. This is my first attempt at getting the artwork together for the top piece. Figured it might be best if I could solicit some constructive criticism before I go ahead with the final product. Nothing terribly original here, but I wanted something iconic. Went through a very roundabout and bass-ackward way to deconstruct tweak all the elements and come up with what is still essentially the US DVD cover with slightly different proportions. ;p Regardless, any criticism would be most helpful.

If this were on a lunch box, I'd carry it EVERYWHERE, whether it had lunch in it or not.

(might use it to be smuggling black market hamsters...cuz hamsters is nice! and they have real smallish droppings!)

I would use a Firefly lunchbox as a purse. And make sure I keep all my shiny items in it.

Awesome! I too would proudly carry this lunchbox.

My only criticism (and it's minor) is that the squiggly shadings on Mal's left cheek look a bit odd to me. Otherwise -- where can I get one?

Very shiny, however I agree with the Mal's squiggly comment, as well as River looks like a Reaver has tried to make out with her cheek... maybe that could be touched up? other than that, GREAT JOB!!

dude! that drawing is awesome. i love it. it looks so real. if it were one of those drawstring backpacks i would use it soooo much that it would be patches be4 i threw it away. i have a brown trench coat that i named Serenity, and will wear forever. hence the screenname. I LOVE FIREFLY!!!!

I don't carry lunch around anymore, but I totally would if I had a lunch box as flippin' awesome as this hopefully, will, no, MUST be!

small disclaimer: this is me pulling a Tim Bradstreet and basically tracing over the existing images, with the colors coming directly from tweaked source material, which is why it looks fairly realistic.

the constructive criticism was much help. I've toned down some of the "squigglies" on the faces. (oddly, the cartoon filter in my GIMP program seems to be a better inker than I am :)

likely going to be verging on copyright infringement with this project (I'll have to read up a bit on that), but if it works out I'll post instructions on how to make it yourself

Hiya,

This is beautiful, and I'd love a poster of this, let alone a lunchbox!

One suggestion: please remove the "Joss Whedon's".

It's a completely different font from everything else, and it's blinding white... it just doesn't fit in and takes away from the 'design' (even though you said you traced it, it's still a design.). Don't try to fix it, just remove it. Everyone knows this is God Joss' creation! :D
