Kaylee was on a mission. They were on Boros; Mal had made plans to meet with a contact about a potential job, but the contact hadn't shown, and now they were parked for at least another day while Mal got the whole situation straightened out.
For the past two days, it had been raining, solid sheets of water that had seemed to come without end. Now the weather finally seemed to have cleared up, and Kaylee wanted to take advantage of that while it lasted.
"Hey." She leaned into the common area and grinned at Simon. He was sitting on the couch with his feet on the table and an open book on his lap. She'd seen him with that book so many times, she figured that could only mean one thing. "Bored?"
Simon looked up at her and smiled. "Hey. Less than I was a minute ago." He closed the book and set it aside. "Where is everyone?"
"Cap'n and Zoe are on the bridge, Jayne's lifting in the cargo bay, and your sister's havin' tea with Inara in her shuttle." Kaylee replied. "I got a way we could pass the time."
"Do you?" Simon stood up and crossed the room. He wrapped one arm around her waist and pulled her close.
"Uh-huh." Kaylee turned away as he leaned in for a kiss. She leaned back through the doorway and picked up a basket and a blanket. "Feel like a picnic?"

The weather on Boros was unusually warm, and the sky was clear except for a few clouds. In the woods not too far from where Serenity was hidden, Simon and Kaylee mostly ignored the food that she had brought and just lay in each other's arms on the worn blanket they had spread out on the ground. They talked about everything and nothing, content to watch the sky and be together.
At some point they both must have drifted off, because Simon was suddenly aware of a wet, cool sensation on his face and chest.
"Kaylee." Groaning softly, he leaned over and shook her awake. "Kaylee, wake up. It's raining again."
"Oh..." Kaylee frowned up at the sky as her eyes fluttered open. She yawned and stretched out her arms, then sa
So....next you're writing the tea and warm-up session, right?
Simon all nervous about asking for what he wants and Kaylee not shy about it at all was great! Hee
And, ahh, sitting in one another's lap...such a lovely position.
All hot and steamy and....rainy!
I'll be waiting for the continuation to this.... I'll nag...you know I'm good at it...
<MG looks outside and crosses his fingers that it starts raining again>
LOVED it!
You got the emotion and passion right across for both the characters and the writing was perfect.
Good job, it very very beautiful and very romantic.
I know, my order of feedback is mixed up, but I swear I read this one first earlier on today!
It's so amazing. I think it's great how you take a little bit of Simon's way of doing things and a little of Kaylee's, and combine them into something awesome like this! =)
Keep the fluff/smut coming!
Oh, and maybe cold shower like right now =)!
Awesome job!
