Part of what is becoming a yearly tradtion, my anti-valentines. This one is from Badger to his one true friend.

And o’ the reward was truly all that;
Perfectly roun’, the payment for debt--
My shiny ‘at!
Ah ‘ere ‘ou see my perfect coronet;
Mark of a gen’leman and not a rat.
Behold! Respect my social amulet,
My shiny ‘at!
Why ain’t it no one eva sent me yet
A taste of friendship or sometin’ like that?
Bloo’y ‘ell! O’ well wit’ ‘ou I am set,
My shiny ‘at!
