Simon Says: Chapter II: Jiangyi

Thank you for all the constructive feedback. Some people (correctly) point out that the last chapter seemed too much like an episode script. That was actually done on purpose. I wanted to setup the same scenarios but with a slightly different POV to show how the situation might conceivably be completely different from what is expected. To me that is actually more frightening to take something you thought you knew for granted and twist it around. Anyway I'll try to be a little more "original" in the next installments. Thanks again for all the feedback!

Mal walked down the walkway into the storage area of the ship. He almost gasped at the stench of the cows in the cargo bay. The sooner he made made this shipment off Jiangyi the better. As Mal walked in he saw some of his crew milling around. Jayne was cleaning his favorite rifle, Kaylee was fiddling with some machinery in the wall and Shepherd Book seemed to be chatting with them. It was a little suprising how well his crew got along with the new passengers, almost as if they all somehow belonged gother. The Shepherd noticed Mal approaching.

"Captain! How's the girl?"

"Just a little whimsical in the brainpan. Seems calm enough though."

As if on cue they could hear River letting out another blood startling scream that they've all been too accustomed in hearing.

"That young man's very brave." Book looked thoughtful before continuing. "Gave up everything to free his sister from that place. Go from being a doctor on the Central Planets to hiding on the fringes of the system. There's not many would do that."

"You going somewhere with this Shepherd?", Mal asked impatiently.

"What's the young doctor up to now?"

"I think he mentioned he was spending the morning cleaning up his sister. Rearing a 'lil girl all by yourself is a lot of work."

"Ya mean he's giving her

GAAAAAAAAH!
Scary and scarier!

I LOVED Jayne's dialogue in this. I laughed out loud at the "don't bother bathin'" bit. Cracked up completely.
Simon, however, is really starting to scare the daylights out of me!

Wow, feedback already! Thanks a lot guys.
I'm glad some people are enjoying my poor writing skills. I have to thank my brother who proof read my first draft.

Nice and freaky. I particularly liked the bit where the diary actually did say, "Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy."

Very good story! Very creepy and surreal. I like where you're going with it.

I love Simon to death and it's strange to see him in this light. Strange in a good way, of course!

Can't wait to see more!

River's head started swimming again. She was tied to a pole and they were building a pyre around her. How in the name of all that was holy did she get in this situation?! When they got planetside she ran off leaving Simon in the general store. But somehow he still found her. And then they both got snatched by some hillfolk. And now they were saying she was some sort of witch and should be burned at the stake. She just knew Simon was somehow responsible for all this. Suddenly Simon was standing in front of her. He quietly climbed up the platform to stand next to her and wrapped his arms around her. "Light it.", he said. Then he leaned very close to her and started whispering to her.

You complete ignore anything that actually shows the bond that they share. Making the story seem vague. We know what happened and there is no way that would've happened by any fault of Simon's. I really feel you are intedning to mock the show and really just hate the character Simon.

Dear SoldierOCross, I'm sorry you don't like the way I'm writing the story.
Actually I'm pretty fond of the Simon character and his incredible selfless dedication to his sis. People wouldn't have such a strong reaction to the scenario I'm making up if they didn't care about the original source so much. It is not my intention to mock the show.

Anyway this is just an AU/different POV. Of course Simon would never really do any of these things in "real life". I'm exploring different settings. And that's why it's just a fanfiction.

Sigh, I know I'm not going to make everyone happy. At least you're not saying it's completely boring. Crappy writing maybe but not boring.

O.K as long as your not trashing Simon. But my main dilemna is that some of these concepts never work in lots of the situations or to show that Simon has genuine care for River. The different point of view is still interesting in how you blend it but mainly only in the first episode because like Joss Said. Sean Plays Simon so retile like at first. Which is why it was incorportated well in the first episode. But sometimes you skipped so much that shows where there brother and sister bond is that makes it impossible to work. River feeding Simon Berries, him watching her dance and stuff like that. As well the one scene of him holding her hand in Serenity when shes on the bed is one of the most subtle and beautiful scenes in the series. But anyway good job it still very freaky and not boring, lol. Now make Inara evil mwahahaha. Nah I like her ok.
