I am sitting here now pondering over the girl…her erratic behavior has greatly increased over the past few days and many on this ship are nervous and unknowing as to the outcome of whatever may transpire. Her brother Simon is to be commended for his selfless efforts. I know the boy must be emotionally and physically drained by now. And River…she is such a lovely girl…highly intuitive like no one else I’ve ever known. Her mind is a tapestry laden with thoughts and knowledge that most normal humans will never know of. And that very perception leads to me to ask, are the mind and body separate? Without the mind, there is no being, there is no life. The mind holds all creativity, all thought process, and all memories. It is the central center for motor skills and movement. When the body stops functioning, the mind can no longer be. Or can it? The body can be draped in the most precious of threads and never know happiness, just as the mind can be full of hope and eagerness but still have a body that is failing in health. I do not have the answers, only unanswered questions that beget more questions…I want to help her…but how? Perhaps, in time, upon pondering this some more, I will be led to a conclusion…but for now…I must sleep….
