Chorus:
I’m out of gas; I’m on the drift;
Engine ain’t turnin’; and each breath’s a gift.
Now when I die, I’ll die alone;
If I could reach that button, I’d call you home.
When I reach that button, I’ll call you home.
The candles burned, on the birthday cake,
We joked and laughed, not a thing at stake;
One long deep breath, a wish to claim,
Then the air we were laughin’, went up in flame.
I met a man, in a brown leather coat,
He thought a bullet, would buy my boat,
But there ain’t a man, under any sun,
Who can take my boat, when I’ve got my gun. (x2)
Chorus
All I needed, was a nothing part,
An old catalyzer, to make the engine start.
Now I’ve got heat, and I’ve got air,
And I’ve got blood, but not enough to spare.
[instrumental break}
My journey’s long, and I’m far from port,
Space is cold, and my breath is short,
Serenity Valley, is where I’ll lie,
Some things stay with you, ‘till the day you die. (x3)
I try not to do scifi filk too publicly at renfaires--but since Gig Harbor has "fantasy" in its name, I'd be happy to give you a lane performance of my Firefly songs once I'm offstage.
As for titles, I don't want to call it "Out of Gas" because that's the title of the episode. Still, I have a feeling that's the tile I'm going to end up with.

See you on Sunday.
Look forward to seeing you and Hawk next time you're up in Castleton.

Thanks, Josh
thank you so much for the private performance last Sunday, I enjoyed it very much! "On the Drift" is a good title and I loved the melody, still got it in my head
