Big Damn Trilogy

(Hear it: http://mp3-postcards.com/listen/?1010 )

Chorus:

Trilogy, O trilogy, I want my trilogy,

Don’t stop at one, don’t stop at two,

Gorramit, gimme three!

Trilogy, O trilogy, that’s what I want to see,

Someday I’ll own a boxed set

Of that Big Damn Trilogy!

They said we couldn’t do it,

They said our show should die,

They took our love, they took our land,

They cancelled our Firefly.

But one thing they didn’t reckon,

in our fan psychology:

Browncoats carry Greenbacks,

And we want our trilogy!

CHORUS

KAZOO AND BOWED PSALTERY BREAK

CHORUS

They say the best things in this ‘verse,

Always come in threes,

Musketeers and stooges,

LOTR DVDs.

When a show’s got ships and shepherds,

The Alliance and Blue Sun,

And Gina and Jewel and Morena and Summer,

It’s too pretty to stop at one!

CHORUSX2

An MP3 Postcard that will let you >hear< this song will be released soon. I'll post the URL in this comment section.

BTW, this piece is part of an album we're working on called _On the Drift_, which will feature songs and instrumentals inspired by Firefly/Serenity. Other tracks on the album include the following:

Ballad of Joss
Hero of Canton (with a karaoke version!)
On the Drift (original song)
Leaf on the Wind (original song)
Saffron's Wedding Dance
River's Jig (original instrumental)
The Rock Garden
Meeting a Contact (original instrumental)
and a parody of the theme song

The album will be called On the Drift, and we plan to release it in November 2005.

Thanks Cedric,
I loved hearing this one at Dragon*Con. Bring on the BDT.

Okay, I've updated the filk to list the mp3 postcard address:

http://mp3-postcards.com/listen/?1010

So that even folks on dial-up can hear it, the streaming version is very low-fidelity. However, if you click on Spread the Signal and send the postcard to three friends, you can download a CD-quality mp3 of the song.

Enjoy!

Loved the song, Cedric! I can't wait to hear the CD. It's right up there on my must have list next to as many tickets to the BDM as I can reasonably afford. As you're planning the release for November, any chance it will be out by Boare's Heade?

Hey, Josh,

It might be done by Boare's Heade, but unfortunately we won't be attending the feast. We were booked to do a wedding that weekend nearly a year ago.

Take care,

Cedric
