THE PICTURE JOB.

ZOE (worried): Don't like it, Sir.

MAL (pensive): Well, I ain't too sure about it my own self. But we ain't got a lot of options just now.

WASH (enthusiastic): You've got to be kidding. It's shiny! Shiniest thing ever, that's what it is.

KAYLEE (full of anticipation): It'll be fun. Meetin' new people. Tellin' stories.

SIMON (doubtful): Are we sure they're not Alliance? Perhaps River and I should stay hidden...

RIVER (far away smile): Resurrection. Phoenix from the ashes.

JAYNE (aggressively): Where they gonna sleep? Cos I ain't sharin' my bunk. Not with no-one. (A beat) Unless she's real pretty (another beat) and willin'. (Lecherous grin).

MAL (frowning): That's enough, Jayne. You be on your best behaviour, dong ma? If we do this, we gotta do it proper. (pointed look at Inara) Don't want people thinkin' we're no better than petty criminals.

INARA (forced smile): Ofcourse not. You have a reputation to maintain. Can't have people thinking you'd do anything for money....

JAYNE (interested): How much money?

MAL (business-like): Well, I guess that depends on what they think of us. But enough to keep Serenity flyin' a mite longer.

ZOE (troubled): Still don't like it, Sir.

BOOK (reassuring): I think we should have a little faith. Ask and the Lord will provide.

MAL (snort of derision): The Lord helps them as help themselves in my experience, Shepherd.

RIVER (trance-like): I'm thinkin' we'll rise again.

BOOK (agreeing): Resurrection.

RIVER (still in a trance): We've done the impossible and that makes us mighty.

MAL (decisive): So, we're all agreed? If it checks out, we'll take the job.

ZOE (woefully): You know what that makes us, Sir?

MAL (proudly): Big damn movie stars!
