Serenity in space... but with kinda romantical colors. Seems to fit that Valentiney feeling. Everyone wrote such thoughtful responses, thank you so much.
Zol: The color combination was the result of some playing and experimenting one night. The image is a variation on a revised version of "Serenity Blue", which I posted here a while back. It is nice to have a reminder that Spring will return as we travel through the Winter months. Thanks for your post.
TCM: Yes! A rose in bloom was the feeling that struck me immediately with these colors. It wasn't the plan going in... just happened. But sometimes really cool "happy accidents" present themselves while we're working. I love being surprised... good surprises that is. ;-)
needleseye: Thanks for your message. The "details! details! :D" on the art are: I created it as a digital painting using the program Photoshop. I'm happy to see that it conveys the effect I was striving for... a real "painterly", natural look. I can draw and paint in the real world, but I love the challenge of getting the "human touch" to come through using a computer. I use a pen and pressure sensitive tablet quite often, so there really is a lot of "hand work" in the art even though it is digitally made. The Serenity ship image started out as a carefully composed combination of two different shots of Serenity. Each shot had an element I was looking for and added something that was lacking in the other. I then altered it significantly using a wide assortment of Photoshop tools, plus several added elements. The "radiant rings" are two different circle effects edited together and gently added to enhance the feeling of force behind Serenity's blast off. I hope this helps with giving some background on the creation of the image. Thanks for your nice post. :-)
AURaptor: Aw, my heart jumped a little when you mentioned the original Spring release plan for Serenity. Yes, *sigh* worthy... but I believe that the new release date will work in the movie's favor. I really do. :-) Thanks for the kind words too.
