This is scary....I like it. It's very artful, if that's a word. I especially like the touch of having River's drawign in the corner.

If River's portrait has disturbed anyone... well, I've done my job. :-)
The art above represents a little less than half of the portrait. Each section that has been shown over the past 3 days (on my website) tells its own story. There will be at least 2 more progressive reveals of the full artwork.
Each time the view pulls back, a bit more of River's world is seen...

this is just beautiful! i am in awe. love... everything! the little details like the dolls and the chinese that i bet means something profound. i like how you did the writing, i'm assuming by inverse selecting it or something oh and also the effect with her eye. basically i think its shiny on the highest level. cant wait to see more!

Thanks everyone for such positive responses. River's portrait was a tricky one to tackle... there is so much to her. So many levels to touch upon, evoke her confusion... yet retain clarity in the image.
To answer some of the questions ~
I referenced several images of River to get the feeling I was after. In the area of the art shown above, there are around 5 source images, that all had to be brought together to create one image. There's also a fair bit of digital painting in there too.
The Chinese characters in this section are:
"mei mei" ~ Next to Simon meaning "little sister".
"Goddamn monsters" ~ right edge under medical probes. This is said by Simon when referring to those who performed the experiments on River.

Ya know...this postcard reminds me of a cover for a play I have lying around: Anne Marie Macdonald's "Goodnight, Desdemona; Good Morning, Juliet"...though your work is still quite amazing, 11thHour:D
