Whew.

The only problem left is that secret with the chickens. Of course, chickens themselves aren't all that much fun. I imagine they're probably the crew's least favourite live cargo. Savage demons.

Oh, and that lost hint from Buck Holden, which I'm sure Mal didn't commit to memory.

We'll find out more about the chickens in the next story. Oh yes will we ever. We'll also eventually find out about that lost card from Buck Holden.

I love how well you describe things, the details you provide and the ease of the flow of dialogue are impressive.

Aside from the action, I liked the interaction of Jayne and the Docs...his description of them in action and their description of him in action. It seemed like a kind of bonding experience of the three of them.

Jayne would write dirty limericks and even more ego-stroking author avatar stories than Mal does.

Wash, to comment on the dynamics of the ship, might spoof "Oh Captain, my captain" in a really sarcastic way.

Probably though Wash's stories are more about an alternative version of the crew... Who are dinosaurs. Or ride dinosaurs? SOMETHING like that.

Argh, wrong story, sorry. The delete function doesn't work for me.

Re: last three posts. Everybody, go read "Flirting with Disaster" by Bytemite. Then, enjoy the commentary! :-) (And I don't know how to delete comments, either. Never seems to work!) And don't forget to leave your comments on this story here! :-)

Shiny, as for the rewrite for the next story, no problem. Really enjoyed this but wish Mal and Inara would just talk to each other and clear the air. As for the saboteur I can't help feeling it will turn out to be someone they know. Also, I hope Mal had Jayne check the cargo - ALL of it. Never know what creepy nasty surprise might be hiding in one of them boxes looking all innocent-like. Ali D :~)

Yeah, and I'm still expecting one of those crates is gonna have bullet airholes discretely shot into it...

Mal don't close your eyes or the Reaver chickens will get you.

All the viciousness and cannibalism of regular chickens... But with taste for humans and a peck of a pack mentality.

You took and ate their children. Now, they are out for REVENGE.

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Penquin, welcome to the party. Now why is everyone so suspicious of the cargo? And why oh why is everyone so fixated on chickens? :-) See you in a while...

Most farm-raised chickens are MEAN. A hand raised chicken kept as a pet has a much better attitude. I doubt these chickens are intended to be pets.

And I really wasn't exaggerating about the cannibalism.

I'm mostly empathizing with the crew, because they will have to tend to the devil birds. I hope Simon is ready with plenty of weaves. Their beaks are sharp, but their talons are worse.

Bytemite, you got me thinking about chickens...I live in a location famous for chicken production, and the most overwhelming (literally!) characteristic is the SMELL. You never want to be downwind of a large scale chicken farm. BLEH!

If Jayne didn't like cleaning up after the cattle, he is really not going to like cleaning up after the chickens, 'cause he ain't smelled nothin' yet.
