Come on, Nutluck, it's been, like 2 hours already. Where's your comment? ;-)

I like Mal and Inara re-living their time after The Shindig.

I was asleep at that time. Very interesting story and nice that Jayne has a hobby of Doc baiting.

I liked that one too -- Doc 'Noyman -- made me laugh!

Oh no. This can't end well. There's Jayne about to completely mess up the machine and possibly screw up Serenity's systems in the process, and just as Mal finally gets a clue, we have Inara's secret creeping up on us all.

You! It's the writers fault! Get him!

(It's very good, but DANG, man! You're too good at making my stomach drop into my shoes)

Oh, but your Jayne WAS just pitch perfect. Right up to mispronouncing the name and spelling it wrong.

Glad Ip needs another lift, Jayne is great.

Love the way you're bringing Wash back, as Mal's Wingman.

I noticed in the last chapter Inara almost told Mal she hadn't been feeling well, but was interrupted again, the moment was lost, but dang, it's going to be painful when that revelation comes out, good dramatic tension, in other words;)

m52, I'm glad you liked the Shindig re-visit. I liked that scene in Shindig so much. Having Harrow return to the story, another cattle job, and another Mal & Inara heart to heart over the lowing cattle was in my plans from early on in the story line.

Platonist, I just love writing Wash. The Mal / Wash scene was written long before rest of this story. I'd bring Wash in much more often if only he weren't dead!

Platonist and Byte: (ominous music) re Inara's illness and secrets: Long-running tension build, part of the long-term story arc. won't be a short-term resolution. Prepare for more stomach drops, Byte.

And all of you: You guys are so awesome! The enthusiastic response to Jayne's scene has inspired me! (*runs off to write more Jayne stuff to include in upcoming sections of this story*)

Hey you logged on and didn't post a new chapter... that just not nice. I want to see Jayne pick on Ip and then see River pick on Jayne. Not to mention the eventual River and Ip date that no one knows is going to happen but River of course. :)

I loved that last line with Zoe watching Mal and Inara mending fences and the notion that watching him heal helped her to heal too. A very fine obeservation. Ali D :~)

I, too, would like to see River get back at Jayne for picking on Ip (and Simon), but I suspect that the won't--she is probably too nice of a young lady to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

Nutluck, Ali D, ZoesMom, thanks for your observations. Jayne picks on Ip in the next section. And you'd like to see River pick on Jayne? ZoesMom, you just cracked me up, with your "battle of wits with an unarmed man." !!
Ali D, I'm glad you liked the bit of Zoe POV at the end. Her healing process is important, and I don't want to lose sight of it, even when the action is focussed on other characters.
