"So." She held back the urge for violence. "You're just leaving?"

"I don't know what ya expect a' me. I ain't him. Can't just-"

"Bee Jway. No one wants you to be. That has nothing to do with this right now. This is about you, you and you're decision to abandon this family."

"Family? Heh." He laughs painfully. "This ain't no family."

Hurt, she shakes her head, glares at him and speaks. " You still in that state of mind after all this time? All u done for us? All we done for you?"

He refused to look at her.

"You're a coward."

"I'm a coward?"

"I ain't the one took the easy way out, am I?"

She was finished with him. She layed her hands on the gift. The last thing he gave her. Carefully and swiftly pulling it from it's resting place and aiming it towards the man who'd just stepped too far over the line.

He was suprised by the way her eyes went suddenly glassy, cold and still. Stunned by the lack of enveloping warmth that was always there before.

Too stunned to go for his own weapon. He hoped she'd aim high. End it all so easily for him. make it so he didn't have to do it himself.

But she had other ideas. One shot in the leg and one in the gut had him laid out on the deck, bleeding into the metal.

She walked up the stair and to the comm. and called for Simon.

She'd changed then. She had no mercy. No

sympathy.

Not for him.

This was confusing. I only suppose the gun weilding lady was Zoe because you mentioned not knowing what to do with her and River, so is the other person Jayne? It would be helpful to have some lead up to this scene to provide context. Ali D

I realize this is a bit confusing. I started with the ideas of this being River or Zoe. But I realized that that would be a bit narrow. So I began to think out of the box. Here's the premise and back story.

Mal dies during a salvage mission. Want that part of the story, here's the link: http://community.livejournal.com/ff_roundrobin/72543.html.

Um. anyway, he dies. This occurs a week or so after that. i've twisted the story a bit to my advantage, so that i could go another route. before i began writing i decided to make the female character Inara, with the gun she's weilding being Mal's pistol. I forgot to fix the grammar, but with that fixed, i hope the story will make more sense.

But now that i read it again, it's awesome with Zoe as the woman. so, it'll stay that way.

Some interesting imagery...but all kinds of confusing. Be interesting to see what you can do with this if you expand and build on it though;)

gonna rewrite with Inara as the woman character, and then maybe with River. think it'll be less confusing once I work on it.
