Mal was trapped and the walls of his bunk were shrinking in on him and only one obstacle lay between him and the freedom offered by the hatch.

She terrified him. More than Reavers, Niska, Zoe, the Operative, or an entire regiment of purple bellies combined.

Oh, he'd led her a merry chase and to have avoided her this long was nothing short of a miracle, but what little luck he had, had obviously just run out.

"Checkmate." She whispered.

Mal flinched before saying. "This so not right, lil' one. 'Sides, I reckon your brother would have loads to say on the subject."

"Not wrong. What you want, what I want. Simon knows. Knows I always get what I want. I'm bratty that way."

Mal gulped nervously as she began stalking him, removing her dress to reveal the nakedness underneath.

Averting his eyes to the sight of her pert breasts and flawless expanse of skin, he began mumbling under his breath. "Goin' to hell. The Special Hell. So going to that Special Hell..."

Mal yearned to give in when he felt her cool hand slide into his hair and begin tugging his head down. Instead he stiffened and held himself away from those lips that tempted him during the day with special, secret smiles just for him and haunted his dreams, doing things he dared not allow himself to remember in the harsh light of the day.

Poor Mal, he really didn't stand a chance. And who can blame River? Special Hell or not there is bound to be hell to pay when Simon finds out. Ali D :~)

And I would lay down good money as a bet that Joss & co. would have done something rather similar had they wanted to and been given a chance. Mal was screwed from the first moment River knew she wanted Mal;)
