That is the most Mal-ish quote I have ever read.

Simon needs to suck it up and kill someone (someone bad). He's going to have to sooner or later and he and Kaylee need to realise that.

Some utterly brilliant work here, TamSibling! Definitely was all of worried about how the Big Damn Rescue of Inara would go until the crew got back to "Serenity."

Gotta say...not sure how I feel about the whole Simon situation presented in this series. Unlike Leonidas, I don't think Simon NEEDS to kill someone in order to feel like a hero. However, I really get the feeling that, given enough time, Joss would have come up with a story where Simon had to violate his oath to do no harm by shooting someone to protect River or Kaylee. And by "someone," I don't mean a Reaver like he did in the BDM. That was pretty much euthanasia, IMO. So...I gotta wonder if Simon HAS to end someone's like eventually to know it's really not him and he's better suited to rear-guard actions.

I really worried at one point that Inara was going to die, especially with that knife being plunged into her side not once but twice just so Niska could hurt Mal that bit more by taking away the one person he valued more than anything in the 'verse. So relieved that River, Zoe and Jayne came in to rescue them 'just in the nick of time'. My favourite line though was Zoe's last comment to River, she speaks so true. Time to hang the flags out - Niska's dead! Ali D :~)

Same, I thought Inara was done for. Glad she's ok.

Also glad Simon didn't kill anyone, it's just not like him. I loved it when he handed the gun over to Mal.

And Niska's dead, that just neat.

I like how Kaylee didn't want Simon to kill Niska, and how he went anyway but couldn't do it in the end. And how she kept asking questions, wondering about Niska having a soul was just soemthing I can see ehr doing after suffering the same kind of trauma (or worse) than Inara.

Zoe's remark to River at the end was perfect.
