Jayne:

I was bringing in the rest of my guns into our bunk when I found Zoe, sitting on our bed looking like someone done shot and mutilated her favorite toy. I cursed Mal under my breath, God only knew what he had got us into now. I went to say something, but I decided against it. She knew my feelings towards Mal’s decisions since I’ve always been the more vocal of the crew and I weren’t gonna stay anything that would help her so it was better if my trapped stayed shut. But it killed me to see her looking so sad.

“I am finally done with moving out my artillery,” I said and she didn’t say anything. “It probably would’ve been better if you told me that you wanted to me to move in before I put all my things back in their place,” I grinned to let her know it was a joke, but she still didn’t say anything.

“Jayne,” she said, her voice was small. Maybe even a little scared. I went to her and touch her face.

“Are you okay? I mean, “ I sighed in frustration. “What did the Cap do now?” I blurted out and she took my hand. I sat besides her on the bed.

“Can I ask you a question?” she said ignoring my previous questions and I nodded. “How do you feel about settling down again and having a family?”

“Wo de Ma! Are you pregnant, Bao bei?” I asked panicked and she rolled her eyes and finally smiled. And then she laughed. I couldn’t do anything, but look at her shock

Okay, I liked this installment the best out of all your others. I think you've really nailed Kaylee, Simon and River's voices. I'm still not sold on Jayne and Zoe, but I think you're setting up a very interesting premise and I will be reading more!

Please make sure to include Kaylee's POV in the next chapter when Simon apologizes for being stubborn. I really want to see her reaction when he admits what was making him so bull-headed.

The couples are so believable and that makes me want to listen in on everything they say! Of course, my heart belongs to Zayne! Please hurry the next chapter.

Oh...this was freakin' brilliant, Nailani! Definitely loved your River-Simon-Kaylee dialogue and inner monologues - could totally picture Summer, Sean and Jewel speaking these lines - and your plot twist that Simon's is or will become a low-level Reader is great!

The Mal-Inara and Jayne-Zoe moments were great too, though the former couple's scene is too short to really know if the characters were caught but Mal's comments to Inara are plausible and heartfelt. The latter? Hmm...I am liking the Zayne pairing as it's being done by your hand, but it is rough territory because of the major shifts in character both have undergone and will undergo due to the scenario of Jayne and Zoe growing closer over similiar experiences and hang-ups...and the new possibility Zoe will leave Serenity or oppose Mal's actions if he gets the crew invovled with the New Independence movement.

I have to say I with Kaylee on this and am so pleased to see her voicing a concern for River that I have long had, that Simon wants to control her too much. Not all answers lie at the end of a needle. Also, really need more Mal/Inara. Ali D :~)

glad to see we're branching out in POVs... why couldn't River have moved into Kaylee's bunk?

excellent River narrations!
