I've never been one for sharing my personal details at the moment they happen. It's tough sometimes on my friends when I deflect and redirect inquires, but it is how I am. It's not that I have anything to hide, quite the contrary (ok, well there is this one thing that happened in Connecticut, but like Fight Club...), but I know some folks are curious. So, without further ado, why my life isn't running smooth at the moment: 1)I WAS working a shitty job for Levi Strauss, I've since been let go, thanks to a typical run of bad luck (illnesses, car accidents, etc.) Does this bother me? Nah. But not having a job does, so frantic job searching going on. 2)I am in school, for a Graphic Design degree. This eats up a lot of time despite schooling online. Those truly familiar with me, know I've been doing graphic work for a while now, but mostly in the Browncoat circle only...I aim to branch that out. 3)Said graphic works...and selling them online through Cafe Press. This takes time and effort, though not as much as it used to. 4)I am a single parent with FULL custody of two kids. Anyone with kids knows raising them is a full time job aside from all else. 5)I do work on the side designing and selling merchandise for my friend's band...and also maintaining a Cafe Press store for them. 6)I live in the middle of fuck nowhere because my ex-wife screwed us over before the divorce, and this is where the housing was when I was homeless (A shout out and thanks again to all the generous Browncoats who carried my kids and I on their shoulders, both those known and those anonymous. We literally owe you our lives.) Unfortunately I am still here. 7)As I mentioned the ex-wife, well to elaborate on how karma can be, and while I wouldn't wish it upon anyone, she's got Leukemia. That means she doesn't work, doesn't come see her kids (not that she did often anyway...3 times in 2 years and not at all for the 1st year), and I don't get child support (again, not that she was working anyway). 8)And of course, trying to maintain SOME bit of a social life whether it be with my tangible friends or my virtual ones, and keeping Caption Tightpants going (I wish I could be focused on it more, I always feel like I'm letting folks down as I am no wheres near as punctual as I used to be with it.) This includes my new girlfriend, who is in the Army, which is really trying when you're a 1000 miles apart. So I am constantly looking to improve my situation and often that means cutting out old routines and the things I want. It's been a long slow climb out of hell, and I've got a ways to go before I even can think about heaven, but there it is. My life, nutshell, never goes smooth. Not really asking for sympathies or the like, just sharing with them that may want to know. There's tons more, but those are the key points. I was just in the mood to elaborate for a change (mark your calendar! This is momentous! LOL!) Hope all is well with those of you who have taken the time to read this blather. ;) Stay shiny! I'm severely busy for these next couple of weeks (got a new client and am also covering for another therapist while they are on vacation) and I got a frantic call from the mother of one of my clients (3 1/2 year old nonverbal boy with autism and ADHD) saying they were taking her to jail and no one was going to be at the house when the bus drops off her child. I had a music class and lessons to teach that day an hour away, but I can't in good conscious leave a small child with special needs alone. I called and canceled my class/lessons (a shame, they don't happen often enough to be primary income but they do pay twice as well by the hour as my therapy gig) met a staff sergeant to get the house keys and was able to look after the little boy until the grandmother (who lived 4 hours away) could make it there. The father is currently deployed. Anyway, back to the mother. She's a good parent, retired air force (enlisted I think), not exactly a trouble maker. Apparently at some point in time, a $60 charge or ticket or some such got attached to her license, did not get paid and her license was suspended. She says she was never made aware of the charge or the suspension. She also mentioned she needs to be at home before her child with special needs gets their at 3:30 and her husband is deployed. The cops of course don't care, because they are douche bags with brains almost as tiny as what probably passes for their penis. I mean the badge of course... She has a suspended license for failure to pay a $60 something she was not aware of. Off the jail! That's our motto, "To Protect and Serve (our interest/revenue)." I mean really policemen? You can bend the rules to speed, run red lights/stop signs, let fellow police and firemen out of DUI's and tailgate me on highway 84 but you can't let a mother see to her children before complying with whatever bullshit fine she'll be paying you? So I'm at the house and the bus shows up, there's a para-pro their to walk the little guy to the house. I tried to explain the situation without mentioning the mother was 'arrested' so of course they thought I might be a sexual predator. That never gets old... if you are a male who works with small children there must be something wrong with you apparently. I'd call it sexism but I don't have the authority to make that accusation. I am a white male, everything is somehow my fault. My first days in his school were like that, though it didn't help that the office sent my paperwork to the wrong school. Finally I managed to convince them to let me look after the guy by dialing the grandmother (lucky I had her number from working extra hours a couple weeks ago) and having her explain things were shiny. So if there is a moral to this story, it must be 1.) Check every now and again to see if you have a bogus ticket aimed to get your license suspended and earn some po-dunk county revenue. Check your credit cards too, I hear they do something similar. 2.) Policemen are not human, they do not have hearts and they do not care about children with special needs 3.) Don't work with children with special needs if you are male. In fact, don't work with children if you are male. Better yet, don't work anywhere where women outnumber men, if your are male. If you do, something is wrong with you and they will assume it is predatory in nature and/or you intend to screw the military wife while the husband is deployed rather than wanting to help children with special needs and trying to make the most of an expensive music education that has more often than not shown itself to be worse than useless. But, soon as that was over with, everyone was okay, the little boy never had a clue anything was ever wrong and I lost a little money that day from canceling the class/lessons. The mother returned home later that night, I didn't press her for details, I could sense it wasn't a good time. Still, I'm glad I was able to be there for them. I know I did the right thing, but I'm a little worried that canceling those classes will eventually bite me. I mean, I've nev

Hey guys. No worries, I'm not going to go on a deletion spree again this time. I just noticed that some people have had problems recently with duplicate posts in the BSR. Which itself is not a big problem, but then they received incorrect advice on how to remove the fanfics. So, just for edufication, here's how you do it. First, you need to be logged in. Then, go to any of your fanfics posted in the Blue Sun Room (access through the BSR itself, or via your "My Firefly" profile) Go to the "Manage my Contents" option on the left side of your fanfic. A list of all your fanfictions, fanarts, and filks will be shown. Select the individual work you want to delete. Click the button that says "Delete Selected Item". You're done! It'll even delete the fanfiction from the main page list, if it's up there. This process is very useful for both mistakes, or if you're like me, and have enough OCD that things being out of order bugs you to the point that you can't stop thinking about it until you fix it.

Say a little prayer for my mom tomorrow. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She's chosen to have a double mastectomy and the surgery is Friday, May 20. Three family members so far have been diagnosed (that we know). One of her sisters had a recurrence, hence the double mastectomy just in case. We're not too scared, we are scared...it is cancer, but my aunts and cousin are still kicking. She'll beat this. I know it. However, there will be a lot of pain and heartache and tears before we make it to the other side. Please, send my mom and dad strength to keep each other well during the next year. Thank you. Also, say goodbye to a nice set of GG breasts. 'Tis a shame.

After their dangerous run-in with the Alliance and having faked their deaths, the crew decides to lay low for a while. Kaylee convinces Mal to buy some fixer-up property in a quaint little rim town named Hooterville. Wash buys a pet goose. Things take a surreal turn thereabouts.

Phew! Just finished the last of my series of Firefly portraits. They started out as a test after I read the comic "Serenity - Those Left Behind". I wasn't very impressed with the graphics or the way it was told to be honest and wanted to see how hard it was to draw the characters myself. So I started by tracing some photographs and realized that it was much harder to make the characters look like themselves than I thought it would be. It was impossible with just outlines - I needed some kind of shading to get them look somewhat ok. And yes I know, traced sketches is a big no no in some artistic circles but for me it's a start and a good way of getting to know the faces of the characters Firefly. After some intial tests I started to have fun. A lot of fun actually. Thank you all for having patience with me and my sketches - it's been a great ride :)

Sorry, folks. I've loved visiting here and reading all kinds of fun posts and interesting perspectives on all aspects of life and entertainment, but I have to take a break. I live right next to Joplin, MO. Maybe you saw my post. But given the callous, horrible reactions to such a tragedy that's right next door to me--that affects neighbors, friends and relatives--I just can't stomach it anymore. I'd rather concentrate on all the good people who are responding to the tragedy, not the armchair gasbags. I know there are more good people than bad, especially on this site, but I just can't handle the few exceptions right now. Thanks for the good times.

As I recall, the movie got panned pretty harshly. Not being into the series very much from the beginning, even Megan Fox wasn't enough to sway me to go see this in the theatres. The girl is smokin' hot. Almost so, that it negates her off screen idiocy, but I digress. As for the movie... what were folks expecting ? It's a movie about TRANSFORMERS ! Duh. I mean, aside from some really poorly edited parts, and some really lame writing here or there... the movie delivered damn near what I'd expected it to. Cool fx , a smokin' hot Megan Fox... and a plot that was about as thin as tissue paper. Exactly what one would expect, right ? Top of mind things which I felt were horrible in the movie: - Skin job co-ed. Really ? A 'cylon' transformer ? - ghetto 'bots. Only slightly less annoying than Jar Jar. ( shudder ) - Resurrection scenes. Both of Optimus Prime and young Witwicky. Ugh. I could go on and list a few more, but what's the point? I mean, Transformers was never my 'thing', so to be overly critical at this point seems silly. There was action, Megan Fox, neat FX... ok, so it was a bit long for my likes, but other than that, what's all the fuss? It wasn't a HORRIBLE movie.. not as bad as the last Indian Jones pile of go-se.

Every year, Browncoats around the globe hold "Can't Stop the Serenity" charity screenings of the sci-fi movie SERENITY to raise money for Equality Now and other worthy causes. In Raleigh, we also support Kids Need to Read. This is Raleigh's 6th year as a CSTS city. Since 2006, screenings in Raleigh have raised $18,290.00 for Equality Now and $1,737.00 for Kids Need to Read. This year, our charity CSTS screening is Sunday June 26, 2011. Doors open at 6pm for raffle, costume contest and food/beverage orders at Raleighwood Cinema Grill. This is a full service restaurant and movie theater, with appetizers, salads, entrees, pizza, desserts, coffee and alcoholic beverages. SERENITY begins at 8pm. Well, chapter 12 is up. It's longer than it would have been. I rearranged the chapters this morning. So now I don't know how many there are anymore. I'm not through renumbering them. I've also substantially rewritten some of the upcoming stuff.
