Blue Sun Posting Rules?
Friday, 08 April 2011 22:33:15

Hey everyone. I'm planning on still sticking by the old rule where you try to only have two Blue Sun Room posts in the main page at a time... But considering recent trends with fanfic and fan art posts starting to be far between, I wonder if that limitation is necessary anymore. The fireflyfan main page latest item list for the Blue Sun Room seems to me to be more active than it's been in a while. Part of me thinks this is not a bad thing. What do people think?

Almost forgot.... suprise!
Saturday, 09 April 2011 02:25:57

Don't have to be read with RD, and RD doesn't have to be read with them, but their pretty shiny none the less. ~Ji~ (you know the drill. please follow, subscribe, etc.) www.riversdiary.tumblr.com

Do I Dare...?
Tuesday, 12 April 2011 10:50:21

I have important news...but may have, as yet, no leave to report it. I'm going to have to check in with someone else... Back in a bit.

I know of what he speaks...
Tuesday, 12 April 2011 21:18:13

As many of you know, ManWithPez and I are a couple. We got together almost a year after the movie came out. We became friends here on FFF. A couple of years ago he proposed during a Firefly panel at D*C. It seems fitting that we choose a date that relates to the verse in some way. So this September 30th we will finally be wed. If you're in our corner of the black, feel free to spend your Friday night dancing with us. We can't offer extra brides or rainsticks.

Raggedy Edge

Happy National Library Week, everyone! My library position was cut today because of the budget. I am so upset. Our school has had so much greedy, tax money slurping "fat" cut from it that next year the principal will be covering the elementary library for grade level classes, and middle and high school students will have to make appointments well in advace in order for someone to unlock the doors to the library for them. There just aren't enough teachers or staff members left to keep the library doors open for them. Who is going to take care of my kids? (This for a library that had it's circulation go up by 72% over last year) I just feel gutted.

Doctor Horrible as a passionate artist.
Thursday, 14 April 2011 12:20:53

I've realized from the start that part of the fun of Doctor Horrible was how Horrible was portrayed as a wanna-be evil genius, trying to break into 'the big League', but it was only after reading through some of the script in the official companion, that the way he approaches his life's work seems to be like the outlook of many young creative artists that I know. He's hungry for success, recognition, and fame, yes, but he's also into "evil for evil's sake." (Without hurting kids, of course.) Some of the little bits that had particular significance to my own writer's journey at the moment were his enthusiasm over his strong application to the Evil League of Evil... "Letter of condemnation from the Deputy Mayor, that's gotta count for something", and the little exchange with Moist... Doc: I've got a Ph. D. in Horribleness! Moist: Is that the new catch-phrase? Doc: Huh? Oh, I'm workshopping it. There are a few... anyway. Myself, I've been obsessing a lot lately about applications to six-week summer writing workshops down in the states. I'm on the wait-list for Odyssey, so wish me good luck with that! And as a somewhat random bit, when I went to the Doctor Horrible group sing-along in Toronto last fall, one of the items in the little goody bag was a copy of the first response from the city to Doc's request for a letter of condemnation - which at first they'd mistaken for 'request for a letter of commemoration', which was really very funny.

Birthday thanks

Nostalgic.
Wednesday, 20 April 2011 09:19:47

So. It is five o'clock in the morning and I have not slept a wink. This isn't uncommon for me. In fact this happens a lot. But that's not the point of this blog. It got me thinking of how when I was up this late I had a group of shiny browncoat friends to talk to...and I miss those insomniac nights. I feel like I messed up a lot of those friendships because at the time I was a very over emotional teenager. It is true I did have it a lot harder than most whiny teens but it doesn't excuse all the drama I started. It was never intentional but I feel that I could have handled myself a lot better. I dunno...I really hope the people I'm directing this to reads this. I miss you guys and I really hope I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Kids today....a rant
Wednesday, 20 April 2011 16:12:25

OK seriously.. I do love being a teacher, but I really want to know what on earth is wrong with these kids??? I remember having spring fever and senior-itis and occasionally slacking off, but it is to the point that giving them any work at all is pointless( or at least feels that way) I honestly had a kid argue that he should receive a passing grade, but not be required to do work. Umm really? He felt that I should not have given him a quiz on the 20 minute video we watched on the American Civil war because he didn't want to watch it and was not paying attention. ( mind you I stopped the move 4 times to repeat and discuss information and repeatedly told the students they needed to pay attention to pass the quiz) Sorry just a bit frustrated. If this were an isolated incident I'd shrug it off. I just can't tell you how many time and how many kids seem to believe that grades are made with magic and that work in class isn't required. I don't know how they got this far in school ( I teach high school) and still think they shouldn't have to do anything to get a good grade.

Time for a bullet in the brain pan?
Thursday, 21 April 2011 05:15:27

It might finally be time to let the old girl rest. Apart from some mediocre comics and well-intentioned but not very good fan films we haven't had anything from the 'verse for six years now. Mal did finally surrender, after all.

The Prodigal daughter returns...
Monday, 25 April 2011 05:03:44

So folks...how ya been? Once upon a time, I couldnt go one day without hoppin on here and posting art or fanfic...and now its been almost FIVE years. I recently decided to write an unrelated novel and thought back to Pretty Fits...my one and only fanfic ever. So... "Here I am"...again I missed hanging out with you guys!! If anyone out there remembers me :) I'm baa-ack GL

I need to rant
Tuesday, 26 April 2011 14:46:20

You don't need to pay attention, I'm just pissed off and need to rant. Sometimes I really don't know why I bother with fandoms. I find something I'm interested in, I join an online community so I can talk about it. Then there are certain people who are just so miserable and bloody minded that it brings everything down. Usually I ignore them but this one person posted something on Twitter today which has really boiled my piss. She basically insulted everyone on tis thread for being childish and for using the word "squee" (for the record, the first time I heard that word was on this forum and I don't give it any negative connotations because I think everyine on here is far more mature than this girl). Yes, this is the same person who goes out every week to the same pub so she can (in her own words) perve on the bartender who just happens to be 5 years younger than her and she thinks it's wrong to fancy him (yeah, that's so grown up). She claims to be embarrassed to be on the thread yet she acts like that. Then there's her little stooge who threw a hissy fit a while ago and left the thread because she felt ignored. Yeah, she was so ignored that people begged her not to leave and constantly mention her because they like her, even though she's said some pretty awful things on Twitter. So we on this particular thread need to stop acting like children? how about you stop acting like a pathetic little child. I used to quite like this lass, she was a laugh but I've gone right off her now. Sorry if that makes no sense, I am pretty annoyed right now. Jennifer -x-

What's Missing?
Wednesday, 27 April 2011 01:55:53

I have two successful online blogs, a great selection of subscribers and readers, loads of confidence boosting feedback, and people who actually what to hear my opinion on stuff I care about. I have a ok social life, a good future ahead of me, and three close friends I talk to everyday. Why do I feel as if I'm missing something and all of this doesn't mean a gorram thing? wish I knew. - Ji. (Read, Like, Subscribe, or Die :)

Thursday, 28 April 2011 21:18:52
