I serriously want to have a truce with all of you, i mean were BROWNCOATS, how can we let things get like this. Shouldn't we be angry at FOX, not one another? As i said i'm tired of fighting, but i will keep responding to posts, and i'll make it a number one priority to be civil.

I've got a few invites left for Google Wave if anyone's interested? You can PM me your email addy and I'll send out invites until I run out. In other news, I haven't had time to spare for here the last little while (mostly 'cause I'm - finally - tearing through Buffy for the first time, and the rest of the time has been spent on the t-shirt biz, busy busy) but I hope to get back here some more now that things are calming down a bit - a bit I say, there's only my brother-in-law's wedding, (with it's family drama galore, oy vey) in less than two weeks, dentist appointments, doctor's appointments, family visits, Christmas shopping, and a million other things to do - but yes, calming down a bit. :o) In the midst of it all, I've made a writing pact with some of my fellow writers to do at least one sentence every day, so there has been some writing (sometimes more than one sentence even) which is a Good Thing :o)

I keep telling people that they should watch this show. They don't seem to take me very seriously. I mean, I have my little Serenity ornament on my desk, along with an almost-kinda-shiny homemade Mal figurine, and the Serenity blueprints, not to mention wearing homemade Firefly t-shirts at least once a week (Me, obsessed? No, why?) Anyway, you'd think people would realize that this show is worth caring about. But I don't have to convince anyone on this site of that. Well, I finally got one of the guys to watch Serenity. I know, it's better to watch the series first, but you take what you can get. Next thing you know, he watches Dr. Horrible, then all of Firefly in less than a week, then Serenity again - just in case he missed anything. He starts asking me what else Joss Whedon has written. He's even asking to borrow the dvds again, and it's only been a week. Firefly quotes are starting to make it into his daily vocabulary. Somehow "I told you" just doesn't quite cover it.

It's bloody bitter out there at the moment. However, that hasn't stopped me from honing my photography skills. Here are a few new pieces, for anyone that might be interested:

Okay, my life has been quite turbulent in the past two years. I got out of my boring 9to5 job as a software developer and travelled the world a bit. I spent the summer of 2008 in Canada as in intern on an organic farm. That was brilliant, I learned to milk goats, to build a barn, to grow vegetables and much much more. The place was very much in the Rim and had a nice browncoatish feel to it. I actually met browncoats, too. I spent the winter back in Germany on unemployment, which was better than it sounds, since I found the time to write a lot and to do some video and audio editing. Then I was off on the next adventure: I went sailing on a 32 foot sailing boat in the Mediterranean with a guy I only knew through the internet. It was a summer packed with fun, adventure, romance, drama and tremendously great weather. And I learned how much you fall in love with a ship. Even though you are constantly repairing something: the steering, the engine, the seawater toilet (yuk!), the kerosine stove ... that ship was what kept us afloat and when the shit really hit the fan she never failed us. She also had a wonderful little pantry that felt a lot like the mess of Serenity. Only smaller :) much smaller. Still, I am no sailor. I got seasick a lot. Also, living cramped up with another person for such a long time made me itchy and even though it broke my heart, I had to get out in the end. I am now back home in Germany, back in the house sharing community I moved into about two years back. While I did love that ship, this house is where I truly found my Serenity and a family. So I am really glad to be back home. I do get a wave from my captain from time to time ... he is still on the boat ... and in those moments I feel like Inara hearing from Mal ... but it's okay. I'll try to write into this blog regularily again, so if anyone reads this and is interested, please, post a comment, I will greatly appreciate this.

My shirt was on backwards all day at work. I know this because apparently the tag was sticking out THE WHOLE TIME. Makes me wonder what my boss was thinking the three hours he was chewing me out about that report.

I got on here on a whim tonight. Combination of alcohol and very emotional football game. I miss this place. I got caught up reading through my old fanfics. Now I want to re-polish them and pass them around again. I miss the people. I still talk to some of you on FB, and maybe the 76th boards when I get on them. I am mostly just on Facebook now, when I get on. At the moment I have no job, no gal, and my kids are living with my ex. I am living with my brother and his girl back in Columbus, my hometown. Life is ok. Could be better, could be worse. *snuggles and bigassjimibearhuggles to them that wants 'em* ~jimi

Do many of you dance? You know, ballroom, latin, stuff like that? My word is it ever fun. I am still just a beginner, or I suppose more of an intermediate dancer. I live in a duplex, 6 guys on the one side, 5 girls on the other, and couple of the girls from the other side of the house wanted to know if would be interested in learning some introductory ballroom with them, so for the last few months that is what I have been doing. This is by no means my first time dancing, I have been dancing with my friends for a couple years now, but brushing up on some of the ballroom basics was nice. Anyway, just got in from a rather large Student Dance Club event, and had a blast the whole night! Some people might think its a little silly, but even the most notorious scoundrel in the Firefly universe knew how to dance. My close friend has described myself as the perfect balance between decency and healthy roguery. So being able to dance makes me feel all the more in that role. A bit of a mystery, but still able to schmooze it up with the best of them and woo a lady or two. Now the cherry on top of the ice cream that was tonight was getting to dance with a girl I know. We are pretty good friends, and she has this incredible classic beauty to her. Think of some of those strong female leads from old black and white films. The kind of woman whose presence is beautiful and commands the attention of the room at the same time. Kind of how like Inara has this strong presence about her, but is still quite demure. It is hard to place, but to this day I just refer to her looks as classic beauty. The kind of thing statues were made for. So that was pretty cool, despite not having a pressing job to attend to, or the significant lack of "duels", it was a pretty good Shin Dig.

Hi, thanks for the kind comments on my last entry. "no longer a capella" ... I like that :) I'm a writer. Well, I want to be. Well, I am, I suppose. It depends on how you look at it. I do a fair amount of writing ... short stories, children's books, novels for young and no longer quite so young adults. I managed to publish a few short stories in printed magazines and an anthology so far and even to get paid for that. That was years ago, though. One of my children's book manuscripts is currently lying on the desks of five different publishers ... well, let's say, I sent it to them ... whether it indeed made it to the desks of their editors or went directly into the trash I cannot say. I am currently revising my NaNoWriMo novel from last year, titled "The Time Travel Academy" and hope to get it ready to send it to publishers in a few weeks. So, you could say, I am a writer, but so far a pretty unsuccessful one. Or you could say I'm an amateur dreaming of being a writer. Anyway, even though I do write a lot more than I publish, I still don't write anywhere enough. I have a lot of time on my hands, so it is not that I don't have the chance to write. It suely is not lack of ideas either. If I got a dime for every story idea a have, I'd be a very rich person. It's more that I lack the endurance, stubbornness and, I guess, courage to just go through with it. I love cats. And I love the cliché that writers should have a cat. I was very reluctant to get a cat of my own, though, for I am a pretty independend person and like to stay that way. Now I found the solution which allows me to bake the cake and eat it, too or ... pet the cat and scratch it, too? I became a foster parent for the local animal shelter and yesterday Granny moved in with me. As her name suggests, Granny is an old lady, 16 years, and she has kidney problems and some other health issues, which made it impossible for her to keep up with the younger cats in the shelter. Being a foster cat mother means that I don't have to pay for anything. The cat stays at my house, but the shelter pays for food, litter and even visits to the vet. So the shelter is happy to have a place for her, I am happy because I finally have a pet and Granny's happy, because she finally found a home. Everyone's happy. From minute one Gran hasn't been shy at all. She even slept in my bed tonight. That's all for today. Keep flyin'

Was on a website a few minutes ago, and though I've seen much like this in the past week, I had to share this time. The contrast was too ironic and too strong. Imagine this, John Lennon, it's "easy if you try". "Living for the moment" can do that to you: An online sidebar ad that has on one half... a plea to sponsor a starving African child. Then immediately following... an offer for a first credit card with whatever amount pre-paid. Contrast: The young orphan has haunted eyes, staring you down with an ambivalent expression, a barricade of beads weighing down her thin shoulders. With: The teen has a flawless small grin and flaunting skin that frankly, I am jealous of. She's looking off to the side, presumably at whatever is making her so happy, but it's the card pressed in your face. Both ask you to put yourself into their shoes. Which do you click on?

So there I was in Tegucigalpa, the capitol city of Honduras with my wife (who hails from there) and I bring along with me my burned DVDs of Firefly to give to my wife's relatives. My FF discs have Spanish on about 2/3 of the eps, so yah never know. Might be some Honduran Browncoats by and by. . . Also got to watch the elections in person -- not a violent outburst amongst the locals at all in Tegucigalpa.

I will be hosting our mosque's radio show "Understanding Islam" for tomorrow's episode (Tuesday, Dec. 8) at 9:20 am or there-abouts. If you live in L.A. you might be able to pick up the show which airs on KCAA 1050-AM. or you can go to the website at www.kcaaradio.com at around 9:20am and click on the "LISTEN LIVE" button on the main page. Since I write or co-write the scripts, I've been trying to subtly slip in some FF-isms. My Imam (minister) has a Pakistani accent -- not unlike Niska's -- and I wrote a line for him that ended in the words "Very nice. . ." I tried to get him to say it with the accent on the "niiiice" when we were doing read-throughs, but alas, it was not to be. That ep aired Dec. 1st or the Tuesday before on Nov. 24th. Anyway, if anyone wants to listen in, let me know what you think. You can also download the segment from the PODCAST area for the KCAA MORNING SHOW for Tuesday. Zai Jian. -- Jonathan M.A.Ghaffar

...Wicked the musical. And to not avoid any obvious comments, it was wicked. Saw it without the main cast (so we got the Broadway actress as Elphaba instead, but no Burt Newton, damn.) and the sound wasn't as loud as it could've been but still a great show. So now I must ask you one question: Have you defied gravity? (And I know what you're thinking: :disappointed:) Me done.

So, I'm late to the game, but I found my way there, eventually. Nathan and Adam are damn near prominent in the game, with Nathan's character bearing a very strong likeness to him as well. LOVED Adam's lines, so many references to Jayne. Full of Firefly goodness! Thanks, Bungie!

My next favorite show right after Firefly is Doctor Who. And it is a very close runner up. The Whoniverse is just every storyteller's dream. I mean, the 'verse is fabulous in all it's possibilities, but in the world of the Doctor, you have literally time and space at your hands. Not to mention a larger than life protagonist, who is superhero and most humane non-human at the same time. And some very excellent writers have worked on that legend during the past decades. Plus I find David Tennant way sexy, I hate to see him go. And it is a TV show which has died and was revived twice, the second time with tremendous sucess. That surely spells hope for all browncoats. The Tardis, as constantly changing as her owner, totally grows on you as well. She is a bit like Serenity, in that matter. So as a hardcore Doctor Who fan, it is pretty much a given that I also watched Torchwood. It is a spin-off, after all. And even though it lacks David Tennant, it does have John Barrowman. Did I say David was sexy? Yeah, sure, and he is the kind of guy I would agree to marry without ever meeting him in person, just based on his acting and the way he comes across in interviews. But John? He is a living, walking testosterone canon. Unbelievable. And man, does he know it. Not the type I'd want to marry ... and gay, too, of course, but I think I'd still try to rip his clothes off should I ever get near him. Sorry, got distracted here ...let me clean up the drool ... where was I going with this? Right, Torchwood. I have to admit, even though I liked a few of the eps in the first season (Countrycide being my favorite), the series as a whole just did not work for me. The different characters seemed pretty fuzzy, there was no consequent character development, no clear line in the whole thing. The second season got a bit better in that (and had James Marsters in a pretty Spike-like guest role) , but still I got the feeling that in some cases the character development was sacrificed for the sake of a story angle or a sometimes just a joke that the writer of the ep wanted to bring across. So even though the second season had me drawn in towards the end (and did intersect nicely with Doctor Who, too), I wasn't too excited about the third season and put off watching it until now. Now I just finished watching the first ep and I am very impressed. I think it wasn't a bad idea to kill off two of the main characters in season two. From what I can say after this one episode, the reduced team works together much better. Ianto and Jack are going steady and start to have couple issues more and more and Russell T. Davies's take on the whole gay thing is as refreshing and natural as you'd expect of him. The scene where Ianto admits to his sister that he is in love with his boss is just so heartbreaking and so funny at the same time. Other good stuff in the ep as well ... the nice doc who you already imagine as new team member and who then turns out to be evil ... that could have been written by Joss, it works so well. Maybe Russell T. Davies had the chance of giving Torchwood nore thought, now that he passes Doctor Who on to Stephen Moffat (and that promises to be brilliant as well ... even without David). So I am totally excited to watch the other 4 eps as well. (Season 3 has only 5 eps which where shown on British TV on 5 consecutive days ... unusual) And there will be a fourth season. Go Torchwood!

Had this strange, Firefly related dream early this morning, just before I woke up. It was the last dream I had, so it stuck with me. But I don't know what it means. It was set on a hot, dry, dusty planet, in some kind of mining town or city. There were these 2 giant plastic or cloth lined pools of water, like chest deep and hundreds of feet across, big enough for hundreds of kids to swim in. Sometimes there were lots of kids swimming and playing im the water, sometimes I was alone in mine. One of the girl BDH's was swimming in the other one. I can't even tell ya which one, which is disappointing, because I got no images of Summer or Jewel or Morena or Gina in a bikini outta this. I'm disappointed in my dirty old man sub conscious. I kept stealing the water out of hers, because it was warmer than mine, although, how I was gonna steal enough water by hand or with buckets or hoses from these giant pools to be noticible , or to make any difference, or why I would want the water to be warmer, given the hot, dry, dusty ..., makes no sense. But I was afraid she would notice, catch me at it, so I was real sneaky about it. And that's all the dream I remember. But-- How did I know it was a Firefly dream? How did I know the girl was one of the BDH, since I never pictured her? How did I know that this whole dream was a front for some kinda crime, that the BDH were pulling, or maybe involved in but trying to prevent-- which I know for certain ? What am I supposed to do with this? Is it Inspiration, pointing me to a new fan-fic? What the Hell is the rest of the story? What crime is being committed here, what are the BDH's roles in it, how does it work out? 'Cuz I'm too lazy, or too dumb, to puzzle it out. What does this say about ME? Since I don't like water, don't, (Can't) swim, nearly drownded several times as a kid? Why was I happy in that pool, instead of scared to death? The only truth to the whole dream was wanting to be warmer-- I've always been cold in water, even if it was 110 degrees out. Anyway, if this sparks anything in any of you fan-ficcers out there, help yourself.

Firefly/sernity needs a new character. A character that like River but diffrent this character will completed version of river because alliance never got to complete there experiment with river so they found some guy that nobody cared for so no brother will come to try to bust him out this will not have the power to read mind like river but and advance combat much faster and stronger very intellegent with advance thinking and does well in the surgical field.

Been intending to blog for a few weeks now, but it’s easy to convince myself that folks have moved on and it’s just silly to update on my fic yet again. But this one’s for Tag, who left a comment on my latest chapter of Back Stories III, 7 months old now… I set myself a challenge for nanowrimo, the month of November, 2009. I didn’t meet my goal, but I at least got something done: I managed a good 8000 words which set out 4 chapters past the 3 new ones already written. That’s enough to link up my posted chapters to certain pivotal scenes I wrote three years ago. This is very good news, since holiday break is only days away and I mean to fill these brand new chapters out and get back to posting during break. I can’t apologize enough for the delays, but I assure anyone who still recalls the plot I’ve spun that there is indeed an end planned, and it will be reached. Not a “the gods did it all” cop-out like some shows (I’ve been watching BSG lately—love the show, don’t love the series ending.) I’ve got a real I’ve-been-intending-this-since-early-2006 type ending. I haven’t chosen my plot randomly is what I mean to say. Uh… almost. I can’t promise to catch all the nuances that Joss’s amazing characters brings to the stage, and my readers and fellow writers have left comments pointing out things beyond what I intended. I find that cool, even if I might not quite live up to it. I’ve done my best to tie up all the plot threads I intentionally left hanging over the years, and I think I’ve got most of them. One disclaimer required: I’ll state right now that there’s a certain scene I imagined a few years back, then rejected as too challenging to most readers who like my stuff. I recently reread the original version and liked it too much to cut it. Stick in there and don’t hate me, is all I can say. :)

he also has insane thing to his insanity turns into rage he gets overconfindent he is as strong as jayne but very quick he hates useing guns he thinks that people that uses guns shows weakness in stength. I already map out scenes of the next movie in my head. what happens after the fight he has with river his evil mind is weaking, because he is growing fond of river so his power weakens and his rage gives most of the power except for his surgical and advance thinking

....sorta. After a great little while - yes, I know, letting people down is one of the things I hate most and yet it's one of the things I'm most proficient at. I'm really beginning to feel the out-of-work bite, and even though I felt something a great deal more pleasant a couple of months ago, I'm starting to lose that, too. Still, trying to plug away at 'Where They Don't Follow' again after a few months' hiatus. I thought of a good rework which I am trying to implement, although it will of course be left up to the audience whether it's any good; with any luck we'll have a chance to find out some time between Christmas and New Year's. Fingers crossed, at any rate. Meanwhile, however, I know nobody has this answer, but as this is the only place where I can vent it - just for once in the season, the year, the era, my whole life, just for crying out loud I should like to have a girlfriend and not feel like I'm going to lose her any minute. For serious, is that too much to ask for????

Zeth was born on the planet called Osiris. His mother and father died when he was ten, any siblings he had were unknown. At the age of 13 he began to study in the surgical field, but never became a doctor at the age of 15 he was attacked by a gang of thugs which he was then broke and severly injured. The alliance seen this kids determination to stay alive so they took him the a ship so they use the experiment they used on river tam, but unlike river this experiment was completed. This experiment five years to complete, now hes the alliances ultimate assassin. The experiment gave him a side effect which was rage and sometime overconfidence. Before he did any missins he asked if he can go back to Osiris, so he can resolve some unfinish busness.

Took a few weeks off from writing due to both Drama at home quashing the creative atmosphere and being busy at work. It's amazing how tired you can get at the end of the day after doing nothing but standing there but when you factor in the below freezing temperatures, it takes a lot out of you. I have got about 3 pages of the next chapter of Quest done. I had an epiphany about what I'm going to do for the next few but it's still a work in progress. I've hit a wall (Like I did with Quest a few months ago) regarding Discovery and I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the next installment of the "Maxverse" Anyway, if I don't have a chapter up in time for the holiday... I wish all of you a Shiny one! Brian

Yup. As chief script writer for our mosque's radio show segment (between 10-15 min. long) called "Understanding Islam" which airs Tuesdays at around 9:30am on KCAA 1050AM, I wrote a line for the show's host, paul, wherein the word "shindig" is used, as in "...a pretty big shindig..." You can go to www.kcaaradio.com and click on the podcast for the MORNING SHOW and goto Tuesdays and download the show. I also am on briefly on today's show, and I recorded (and wrote) all of the Tuesday, Dec. 8th show. But it was pre-recorded and the sound quality ain't so shiny. And the fight goes on. . .

After taking care of the unfinished business he started to do missions for the alliance. For instince arresting some thugs killing escaped criminals stuff like that. When the alliance thought he was ready they put him into a healing a special water tank that downloads special missions like the capture of river and the death of the crew of serenity. Once downloaded he went to the burial site that was made by the crew for the dead friends of serenity, so he can use his high intellect to revive there old pilot wash. After this he goes to the planet were the crew is and spies on them. Until he sees where they were headed then buries himself in the sand wasteland where they will walk. Once the crew walks right over him he emerges from the sand, but with river tam's mind reading ability she brings a sword out and blocks zeth's attack. Mal tries to shoot him but with is speed he cuts the bullet in half. After a couple of minutes of fighting he calls for a ride and when his ship come he jumps on top of his ship and they catch a glipmse of wash . thThe reason why wash didn't go back was he had a mind control device which was also on zeth as well.

.. But, it was worth it... Yesterday, I decided to venture out into the thick snow. (As the BBC's Tim Westwood says: 'It's a big look out there.') Originally, I wanted to leave any new photography until after the Christmas holiday. It's baltic out there, and I had preferred to stay inside and keep warm. However, this 'period' of mammoth winter weather needed to be documented. I haven't seen this much snow in a long, long, time, and it deserved to be photographed. My hometown looks quintessentially festive, in a Victorian kind of way... Anywho.. Here's the latest batch of photos. (Including the weird, but natural ice/snow formation of a dog, found on a branch!) I might add some more shots at a later date, if people are interested. Enjoy! AT THE GATES.

The virtual shindig room has been closed due to abuse - ILLEGAL ABUSE. I am pursuing the issue, as is the hosting company. *** You know who you are if you participated and you will be reported to the appropriate authorities *** I haven't used the room in a long while but I just stopped by today to see if it was still active and I saw the following message posted by Chatzy: "ROOM CLOSED This room has been closed due to the exchange of child pornography links or information in it. but I don't want to... I've got a scant few paragraphs to write to finish my New Year's Eve fic, and I'd like to get it done so I can post it, but I think my brain is too mushy at the moment to finish. The temp has dropped in the house (programmable thermostat) and my poor feet are freezing, but still I fight to stay awake, and cling to every second of my vacation... but I'm starting to feel ill which means I really do *need* to go to bed. Speaking of ill, my niece gave me her eye infection :o( Runny eyes suck. Also, the V on my laptop is not working properly and I keep having to hit it really hard to make it work. Not happy. Hmmm is there anything else I can ramble about to keep me up a bit longer? No? Damn. I guess I'm going to bed then.

Ah, the scenic and oft disturbing underbelly of Salt Lake City. So two things you gotta know. First, when 11 am rolls around, I'm not thinking about much besides a obtaining a 99 cent bean burrito. Second, where I work is kind of not the best side of town. It's by the airport, and yeah, enough said. I'm walking through about six inches of snow by this hotel, in shin high outdoorsy snow boots, jeans, a parka, and a hood, when a car stops by me. People often stop to ask me for directions, I guess I kind of have a knowledgeable, approachable look, makes shopping not too fun for me cause people always assume I work there for some reason. Anyway. Usually someone asks me for directions, and I stand about five feet away from their car so I can size them up, decide if they're okay or if I need to defend myself. Today, I can't hear anything through my hood, it takes three times for me to hear this guy because he's kind of mumbling. He asks me, "are you working?" I think this is an odd question. I look over at my office building, I haven't gone too far, and it is 11 am on a workday. So I shrug. "Yeah." He, of course, asks "How much?" This takes a moment to register, and then that was about the moment I decided to walk away. Don't laugh! How was I supposed to know? I don't know anything about girly stuff. Mostly I wander the earth calmly assured that no one would look twice at me, and with plans to kick them in the balls if they do.

I rented a wes Anderson movie on DVD cuz I like his directin'... And there in the trailers for other movies to check out, is a movie called "Death at a Funeral" and it's got our favorite fly-boy in it. Figure it might also be on NETFLIX as well. -- Jonathan M.A.Ghaffar
