Well, some time has past since my last entry, let alone an actual post by yours-truly. Work has reduced me back to being a lurker again...or the Big Cat Flame Warrior persona that I have somehow managed to become...Bottom of my signature for those curious. Some disheartening and interesting things have happened around here lately, of which I suppose provides an update to a few old posts I've made in the past. Though, strangely enough, good has come as well. Starts, I suppose with my sister "moving up here". Which consisted mostly of her telling me that she was on her way up here for a week straight. And by that I mean that she would say that, and a few hours call and say the same thing agian. After that week, I've heard nothing since...should I be disappointed, I don't know. *Insert Diety here * knows that I am in no way surprised by any amount of hurt that any relative can sling my way, family is a laughable comcept to me. My family seems to think that family means "I can say and do whatever I like, and you can't say anything about it." So my attitude in return is "Stuff you, then. Then I get passed up for promotions at work. Not based on issues, knowledge, experience, or disciplinary issues. No no no, I was told all that was spot-on, but simply I did not have enough "face-time". More like not enough "time with your face up my ass". But yet they promote fine people like the one that leaves the building 30 minutes BEFORE his shift ends and has his girlfriend clock him out 45mins AFTER his shift ends, and has to be physically restrained from assaulting three employees.

To continue from Part 1... I have since realized that it is nowhere near worth being promoted there, since essentially I have to: 1) Be a corporate Sell-out, 2) Give up any notion whatsoever of having my own opinion, 3) Never, ever, ever, speaking the truth again, or 4) Ever having a nose of any color other than brown. Followed immediately by: My landlord is not renewing the lease on our house. I think the greedy bastard wants to sell the house, but isn't telling us. He also refuses to talk about any possibility of renewal. And yes, we've paid the rent, no, the house and yard are not trashed. We've taken care of the place. So, with all that crappy stuff, some good has arisen. I am going into business with a friend mostly installing networks and security systems to businesses. Good money at that...We have a few jobs already in which the bring-home will be around 2k for myself alone. Not to mention the residual income of tech support and "house calls". And, it seems that we miiiight just be able to qualify for a first-time homebuyers loan so we can actually BUY a house, rather than rent one. We should know about that in the next few days. So....an interesting time, yet, it seems that someone/something/whatever you believe in "has my back". Amazing what a little clarity of mind and a willingess to let the winds of change do their work will do for ya. Sorry for boring everyone with MY life stories, I am sure that news of greater import are available simply a remote-click away...:evil:

got the afformentioned new star wars book the other day. i'm about a fifth of the way through it and so far i am impresed. if anyone has read any of the New Jedi Order books then they will love The Joiner King. from what i have read it's great. covers alot of stuff that was left unfinished after Star By Star. also, the dialogue for Han Solo is the best i have read in print so far, it reads just like something one would expect Han to say.

Most of you realise that I teach high school English. In watching Firefly over and over and over again, I've realised that you can learn a whole heck of a lot about teaching from watching Mal. Now I have it listed out here as a cursory list in no real order. I want input from you guys about other things you've noticed and better ways to phrase stuff on the list. The Malcolm Reynolds Teaching Method: 1. I am the captain and, no, you can't run this ship. 2. You all got on this boat for different reasons. 3. Hold the crew to high standards. 4. Rule hard, but rule fair. 5. Got something to say, say it to my face. 6. Honesty - Always shoot straight. 7. Exploit the blurred lines. 8. Everyone on the boat is part of the crew. -teamwork 9. If you goof it up, admit it. Preferrably before we find out on our own. 10. You can only rely on yourself. 11. Piss me off too much, I got no problem shoving you out the airlock. That's all I got so far...thoughts? Additions? Please?!
