I'm calling out my Browncoat brethren in the Old Dominion. Make yourselves known. "This is how they won, you know? Superior numbers." Don't let that be us.

I'm in Richmond, by the by.

New River Valley here!

Well this is nice to know I'm not the only one in our fair commonwealth!

So what's central for all of us?
Charlottesville? (Or Lynchburg?)
Anyone want to do a Browncoat get together?
Do we want to do anything together with the BDM?

IF Charlottesville is central, then the BDM has got to show up at one these Charlottesville's theatres:
Regal Downtown Mall 6 -- 200 W. Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902
Regal Seminole Square Cinema 4 -- 2306 India Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901
Carmike 6 -- 1005 Garden Blvd, Charlottesville, VA 22901

Tell you what. Everyone who wants to investigate the possiblity of assembling for the premier (or whatever reason), send your zipcode to marykroll @ iwon.com. I'll figure it out. Also, if you're not already signed up, go to http://firefly.meetup.com/ to see about meeting in person more often. For the Richmond-esque people, I'd like to meet at Babes in Carytown some evening, instead of the Glen Allen afternoon meetup on that site.

About Galax, frankly there is nothing here. Very small town. We do have the world's biggest fiddlers convention here every year in August, but that's not really my cup of tea.

I'm in Suffolk... yes, it's part of Hampton Roads and I'm not a hick!!
Glad to see there's someone close by on the board. I've signed up for the meetup.com, but there are only a couple other people in our area, are you signed up?

I'd love to do something for the BDM, but Charlottesville is about 4 hours away, if there are alot of Browncoats in Richmond then maybe we could get together there. Whatever, I think we should get something going!!

I posted about the meetup on 8/7 @ 2pm over at the Meetup board. Is anyone else planning on attending? I have already sent my RSVP.

Actually, I'm in Chesterfield, too.

I do craft shows for a living and would never be available that early on a Saturday. Has anyone warmed up to my idea of meeting at Babe's some evening? Its realy shiny. Or if you're available on Thursdays, we could meet at the 17th St Farmers Market, since I'm there anyway, selling my wares.

Handmade goat milk soap. I'm in stall 52 at the north-west corner of the market. I'm 5foot2, eyes of blue, blond hair pulled up, with glasses. You know what would be cool? Just walk up and say part of a line from the show, like cold war spies with their secret greetings. Like, you would just walk up and say "We have done the impossible" and I would say "And that makes us mighty." Oh how cool would that be. Anyone else who reads this and comes to see me is welcome to toss one out, too.

When are you normally at the Market Place Mary? I may stop by this weekend to say hi.

Everything Thursdays and most Saturdays from 8am-2pm. It makes for a lovely outing. Poke around in all the different vendor booths, have some lunch, listen to that week's penniless minstrel. (Thursday is the better day)

I'm available any day except Thursday or Saturday, and any time (being mindful that I have to milk the goats at 7). To the Metro Richmonders, what is your availability, generally-speaking? I'd like for us to be able to meet up at a fun and convenient location. If all goes well and we all get on like a house on fire, maybe we could even take turns hosting the meet. Just a thought.

Generally Saturdays are best for me, sometime in the afternoon, but I can be relatively flexible as far as the day. I am off from work at 4pm & generally home after 4:30pm. Early evenings works best for me if it is a weekday. I can do Sundays in the afternoon if that is more convenient for everyone.

I'll be at the 17th St Farmers' Market (17th & Main) tomorrow from 8am-2pm, booth #53 in the NW corner, if anyone wants to stop by and hang out. Remember to come up with a "call", a line from the show to which I will have to answer with the following line, to prove us both True Believers. Good Lord, I'm a geek.

Thanks for the welcome.

I discovered Firefly in a backwards kind of way, I saw the movie SERENITY first, and then sought out the DVD's of the series. I had missed it when they originally aired.

It's a great series and idea for a storyline. the characters are rich with the promise of many layers and much depth.

Does anyone know of a pattern or template for making a brown coat duster?
