"because whoever happened to be empowered by the Electoral College saw the advantages of keeping it"
Who would that be?
And BTW, despite the MANY Constitutional changes to say, slavery, and who gets to vote, the Electoral College is STILL the law of the land. And there is STILL no Constitutional provision guaranteeing that any citizen vote for President counts for anything.
ETA: But if you can point out to me that whatever is being done is outside the Constitution, we could have a discussion about that.

Quote:There is plenty of things that were and are Constitutional and yet evil. It was perfectly Constitutional to burn women and children alive with A-bombs and American did plenty of that. You would have been threatened with execution if you were opposed to murdering civilians during WWII or Vietnam War. Very Constitutional for the President to murder Indians, too. The Constitution is a very poor guide to the difference between good and evil. Trump is executing people in the Federal prisons when nobody has been executed for decades. What he is doing is perfectly Constitutional. It is very impressive what the Constitution will allow you to legally do once you are in power.

So, what Trump is doing regarding the elections is Constitutional?

I'm kind of waiting for your response. In your very roundabout way, it sounds like that's what you mean.
You find it "evil" but not necessarily unconstitutional.
Right?

Ranting and raving claiming election fraud, while not presenting any evidence of it in 50 or more separate court cases so far, is not following the constitution. Improperly trying to throw out millions of votes is not following the constitution. It’s an attempt at a coup. What’s more disturbing though is how many support this idiot.

In his comfort zone of the Twittersphere -- where he's put out countless false tweets claiming the election was "swindled" -- Trump has been silent about the disturbing hacking campaign, suspected to be tied to Russia, that has endangered US national security. Despite being briefed on the massive data breach by top intelligence officials Thursday, he hasn't said anything about risks to the federal government or how he planned to address it.
Sen. Mitt Romney, who has been a critic of the President, called the hacking "the modern equivalent of almost Russian bombers reportedly flying undetected over the entire country," speaking to SiriusXM on Thursday. "And in this setting, not to have the White House aggressively speaking out and protesting and taking punitive action is really, really quite extraordinary." But Trump is "aggressively speaking out and protesting" about Russia this morning:
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
The Russia Hoax becomes an even bigger lie!

So, why do you think neither democrats* nor republicans are calling for a neutral study of the election?

Republicans Are Manufacturing a Legitimacy Crisis
First they lied about election fraud to sow distrust. Now they say voters don’t trust the election.
Having stoked this distrust, the president and his allies are now exploiting it. They argue that the fraud must be real since so many people believe in it, and that even if it can’t be proved, widespread disbelief in the results makes the election illegitimate. On Fox News, Republican poll numbers have become a routine substitute for evidence. Trump points to them as proof that “the election was rigged.” His campaign advisers, including Lara Trump, also cite these numbers. Last week, Sen. Ted Cruz said the Supreme Court should intervene because “39 percent of Americans right now believe this last election was rigged.” In Georgia, Sen. Kelly Loeffler demanded that the secretary of state resign because “Georgians have lost faith in our elections.” House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, noting the “distrust” felt by “millions of people,” refused to say that Trump should accept the verdict of the Electoral College.

This morning, Trump is again attempting to steal the Election for himself:
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
He didn’t win the Election. He lost all 6 Swing States, by a lot. They then dumped hundreds of thousands of votes in each one, and got caught. Now Republican politicians have to fight so that their great victory is not stolen. Don’t be weak fools!
