Getting close to halfway through the year. At the end of the calendar, sometimes it is hard to recall all the great films from the early part of the year, getting overshadowed by the summer blockbusters and award season royalty.
So let's take a moment to recall and list which films have been your favorites so far this year.
So far my list is:
The Promise
Gifted
Colossal
Megan Leavey
John Wick 2
Brimstone is listed as 2016, but has a release date in 2017, so including it.
The Mummy
Baywatch (not because of greatness, but due to not much else better)
As I look at it, none of the ones I was most looking forward to have panned out. I was hoping to list 10 films, but either they have been lame so far, or I already forgot some good ones. Help remind me.
Other films mentioned in this thread:
Logan
Wonder Woman
Hidden Figures (released 2016)
Transformers 5: The Last Knight
Spiderman
Autopsy of Jane Doe
The Belko Experiment
Dark Tower
Logan Lucky
Before I Fall
Wind River
Valerian
Guardians of The Galaxy 2
Atomic Blonde
Alien: Covenant
The Last Jedi
The Big Sick
Dunkirk
Bad Batch
Baby Driver
Book of Henry
War of Planet of the Apes
Detroit
Bladerunner 2049
Gotti
Justice League
Wonder
Thor 3: Ragnarok
Una
The Shape of Water
3 Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri
Snowman
Molly's Game
Mudbound
Battle of the Sexes
Coco
It
Get Out
Kingsmen 2
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul
Jumanji 3

I like your list, here are my picks:
Wonder Woman
Logan
The above movies top my list as 1 and 1A, both excellently done with very minor flaws, but the best so far this year - bar none.
Hidden Figures
Colossal
John Wick 2
And that's pretty much it. Now, mind you, I have yet to see a couple of films that you have listed, but I will make it a point to see this summer and will revise my list further down the road.
Here are the ones I haven't seen:
The Promise
Gifted
Megan Leavey
Brimstone
The Mummy
Baywatch
Out of these I think I will be watching Gifted, Megan Leavey and maybe The Mummy.
As for the rest - Netflix.

I'd watch the first three of that list. Promise, Gifted, Megan Leavey I suggest as more rewarding than Mummy or Babewatch. Brimstone would be dependent on what type of film the viewer likes.
I was really looking forward to Wonder Woman, but had hoped to be more entertained than I was. The best thing of it is boosting Gal Gadot's star.

I must list Transformers 5: The Last Knight.
I found it much better and more entertaining than Wonder Woman. T5 lived up to my expectations.

I don't get Gal Gadot's name....
I think of Waiting for Godot every time I see the name. Of all the people to not pick out a stage name. But than again, maybe that is a stage name?
It's good for Google searches I guess.

Are you saying she should have used a stage name as contestant for her local or regional beauty pageant qualifying her for Miss Israel at age 18?
She should have used a stage name for the Miss Israel 2004 pageant at age 18?
She should have used a stage name for the Miss Universe 2004 pageant at age 19?
She should have used a stage name to enlist for her service in the Israeli Defense Force at age 20?
She should have used a stage name for her Maxim photoshoot "Women of the Israeli Army" at age 21 in 2007?
She should have used a stage name for her audition for Quantum of Solace at age 21 in 2007?
She should have used a stage name for her first acting role in 2007?
She should have changed to her married name of Versano/Varsano in 2008?
She should have un-Hebraized her surname back to Greenstein, after her parents had done the opposite?
At what point should she have started using, or switched to, a stage name, and how much of her credits would she have to leave behind when she did?
Most actors who use stage names do so to become stars, have more draw. Gal has become a star based upon her skills, talent, without resorting to tricks.

Fair enough. My sister in law took a hyphenated name for similar reasons.
I'm not really judging or anything. I'm not exactly thrilled with my name either.

Last night I saw Gal Gadot on Jimmy Kimmel's show. It may have been a rerun, she said she had just had her second kid 2 months before. Anyhow, Jimmy pronounced her name like "Gaul (or Gol) Guh-DOTE" and did so several times with her present, and she did not indicate this was incorrect.
I was thinking Godot was pronounced "GO-doe" by comparison.

So far, Wonder Woman and Spiderman, and the latter was better ( imo ) by a fair bit, and that's no knock on Wonder Woman.

Finally got to see Autopsy of Jane Doe.
Many blurbs mentioned it the best horror film, and I cannot disagree with that.
Not enough of screen time for Ophelia Lovibond, tho.
