What Are Your Best Films of 2017 So Far?

I saw two F&F movies; the first one and 7 (the one where Paul Walker had died during filming). The first one was okay, but the 7th was very ridiculous. Only reason I went was because my date wanted to see it. I was kind of a Paul Walker fan, so I was curious how they were going to handle his death in the movie.

The last Fast and Furious movie I saw was the first one. lol. I hear they're pretty good. Maybe I should put them on my watch list.
Jimmy probably doesn't have a huge studio audience, but I'm sure anybody knows that it's going to be watched by millions of people too. I don't think too many people outside of Israel watch Miss Israel. I could be wrong about that.
The first F&F was likely the best. 2 & 3 held up OK. Tokyo Drift jumped the shark. Hard to keep track after that. Gal's first was probably her best exposition of the franchise. I mostly was drawn by Jordana.

I actually thought the first one was pretty great at the time I saw it, and I never had a thing for cars. That was a time in my life when I was still pretty big into movies. Then they made the Tokyo Drift sequel that I wasn't interested in at all and by the time they started making all sorts of crazy sequels to it with the original cast I just really wasn't watching a lot of movies anymore.
lol... now that I think about it... I might end up binge watching all of them at some point. It's practically like a TV show at this point, which is my preferred medium now.

The Belko Experiment. I finally got to see it, from Redbox.
What a wonderful cast, lots of actors you'll recognize, including Gregg Henry. Scripted and Produced by James Gunn. Plus others who have worked with our BDHs.
I have not seen Saw, but if there was a category for that type of film, I would consider Belko to be the best film I've seen in it. Fairy well crafted, lots of tension, you'll likely get squirmy, and you should enjoy it if it is your type of genre. If I had seen in cinema I might have been more disturbed without a pause button for breaks.

Actually, that's a good point. They are more like high stakes TV shows like Hawaii 5-0, or Scorpion. Next they will probably shoot the cars out of the space station to save the world.

At this point in time, I am not sure if there is another film that I liked better than Dark Tower, so far this year. I'll need to think about it before putting another ahead of it.

Last night I saw Gal Gadot on Jimmy Kimmel's show. It may have been a rerun, she said she had just had her second kid 2 months before. Anyhow, Jimmy pronounced her name like "Gaul (or Gol) Guh-DOTE" and did so several times with her present, and she did not indicate this was incorrect.

But I actually HAVE heard that name pronounced, not only by a college professor, but in the version Burgess Meredith was in http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348334/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_134. It's definitely not pronounced the way you're saying that he was pronouncing her last name.
I don't keep up much with any current events, especially celebrity stuff. I haven't even watched a late night show in over a decade.

Yesterday a bit part player; today a mega star from doing a fantastic job as Wonder Woman (I love her accent, her charming personality and total commitment to the role). You don't get many like her. Personally, I don't think she will ever get spoiled by Hollywood.

While watching her on Jimmy, I kept recalling that she did all the maid work at her hotel.
now a story is out that she intentionally lost the Miss Universe contest so that she wouldn't be forced to spend a year with that title. It sorta slipped her mind that winning Miss Israel automatically submitted her for Universe.

I just watched Before I Fall which is listed as from this year.
The subject matter is sorta Groundhog Day for High School. But the film is really well put together and acted. The first third or so is a bit staid and formulaic, which is likely the intent. The second half really makes the whole film worth it.
For those not familiar with Zoey Deutch, this may be a tour de force from her. She carries the film, but the rest of the cast is also excellent.
It might be in my top 10 for 2017 so far, I'll need to think on it.

I'm suddenly sering quite a spurt of really well made films, which seems kinda weird for the amount of movies I watch.

I might catch LL before summer's out. I saw the trailer a couple of weeks ago and thought it was fun and entertaining.
But here's my list for 2017 so far (of the movies I've gone to see in the theater):
Wonder Woman - still tops my list
Logan - damn good movie
John Wick 2
Atomic Blond
Colossal
Hidden Secrets
Baby Driver
Alien: Covenant
Out of the above, only Hidden Secrets may have an Oscar contender: Taraji P. Henson, Best Supporting Actor.
The rest were highly entertaining and well put together films; professional, slick with solid storylines and good acting. Were they without their flaws? no, but minor in comparison to the overall films.
Let's see what The Last Jedi has to offer.
