I'm not buying the spin from any motherjones story, but the hard cold reality is that this country is now 20 TRILLION dollars in the hole and SSI is on a decades long spiral course, thanks to idiots from BOTH parties ( aforementioned ESTABLISHMENT ) who have completely raided the imaginary Sosh Security lock box ( it doesn't exist, btw. It's just a file which contains a bunch of IOU's from Uncle Sam. )

Bush43 tried meekly to address this mess with his ' political capital ' he claimed he had after the '04 election. It went no where. Because while W KNEW it was the right thing to do, he wasn't all that jazzed about promoting it. Neither were the members of both parties.

SSI isn't right. It's a bad idea gone horribly wrong. Citizens overly relying on the govt is what killed every prosperous nation. Too many servants to the STATE and not enough free citizens will doom us first.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

Auraptor, if you divide the $20 trillion National Debt by 333 million population, you get $60,000.
It costs $233,610 to raise a child. So, the National Debt doesn’t seem unreasonably large to me unless you were raised for only 233 dollars and 61 cents. Then you’re a real bargain. The real debt is $18.96 trillion.

While Trump is saving the National Debt, I have a graph of household indebtedness (commonly related to consumer loans and mortgages) as a share of GDP. The National debt is also there. Auraptor, oldtimer, you might want to think about it slowly and carefully before you cheer Trump for killing your SS and Medicare.
