Oh BTW, don't bother springing for work boots. My hubby has neuropathy in his feet, and the Sketchers are very comfortable for him, provided that they fit well. Do you have extra wide feet?

Most of it missed us. We didn't get as much as I heard Chicago did. But when the roads aren't taken care of right away it's never fun. I'd say that's the one thing I miss about Chicago suburbs in Illinois. Nobody in that state recognizes any budgets, so the cleanup is next to immediate. Whoever was plowing the roads out by me was getting paid overtime, so I'm sure they waited a bit and didn't have as many of them driving as they would have during the week.

Hopefully most of it misses your sister. :)

Unfortunately, they don't have any more of the Sketchers loafers that I'm using now where I got them before. They have some tie-up ones that also have the memory foam. Maybe I should try another pair. These things have to be over 6 months old now. Maybe I'm just due for a new pair.

I wouldn't consider my feet extra wide, but then again I've never measured them and I don't really compare them to other feet. Until recently I never even knew that was a thing and only bought according to the number size. It's funny how that number is almost meaningless since I've fit in anywhere between a 10 1/2 and a 13, depending on the shoe.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I understand about your grandfather. Neurologist told me the tumour was the equivalent of being hit in the head by a 2 by 4.

If I could get into a good apartment with proper rent and what I need I would be paying less rent and be able to organize myself better.

Wish I could help you with that stuff. I feel as helpless with this as I do with my brother, and he only lives about 200 miles from me. :(

It's okay Jack. Something has to work out sooner or later. I just keep hoping and truckin'.

Seriously, I almost want to get involved and start making phone calls. I wonder if my Magic Jack can make calls to Canada?

I doubt that anybody would talk to me though. Not only because I'm in the US, but because legally they probably couldn't.

Another great week at work. :)

I'll never get tired of hearing how happy they are to see me when I go back. Or that it takes two guys 3/4 of the night to do what I do alone. Not sure if they are aware of how many things aren't done right that I have to fix when I come back too... That's usually half of my first night back. Got my full shifts all week. Half of the other people were out the door an hour early most of the time I was there, but there weren't any complaints because of the weather.

I laugh every time I hear somebody say "there isn't much to do". Well... I laugh when I hear my co-workers say it. The store outside of my area generally looks like shit. There's always more to do. Unless the entire store looked as good as my area, nobody should be going home early. It kind of annoys me when the management says stuff like "looks like it's going to be another easy day". I've never got an easy day. If I get my stuff done I do something else that needs to be done and get my full shift. When you say that to some of the other people there, all that means is they're going to milk it all night. Oh well... that's why I get paid the "big bucks".

I'll let them worry about it for the next 8 days without me.

Feet barely hurt at all today. Got better every day I worked.

I'm starting to think that it's not the cold weather that's causing the pain. It's my generally sedentary lifestyle during the cold months when I'm not working.

I'm going to do a little experiment this week. Nothing too serious, but the plan is to do some light weight lifting and stretching for 30 minutes a day until I go back to work and see if I still experience any pain on my first night back next time.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

BRENDA, what is your area of greatest difficukty? If you feel like you have a specific deficit, it might be useful to get another neuropsych eval. Here, they also ask how you're feeling, so depression might be another avenue to pursue. Of course, if you think you're going to 'ace the test' you prolly sholdn't establish that in your record!

If there is a department or bureau that should already be offering you assistance but isn't, does it seems like government inertia? I could contact my friend in Ontario, he's something of an activist, and like I said knows some BC officials, maybe they could push your case forward.

Having once worked in a government agency myself, I can tell you from personal experience that nothing gets as much attention as pressure from the top!

I don't really know all I know is that my brain doesn't work as well as it used to.

The depression is what led me to 2 and a half on 3 years of counselling. Sorting out a ton of stuff that I had been sitting on for years.

To me it seems to be mostly rules and regs that is blocking me. I am not the right age, I'm single and have no children. Blah, blah, blah.

I know that too.

This is so radiantly stupid, jack - not only has 'rezaaslan' threatened explicit violence against Covington kids, he threatened DineshDSouza as well, but a conservative gal gets banned for criticizing the violence-spewing celebrity? =====>

I really think you should take this up with your doctor. There are so many possible reasons for this to be happening, but gradual deterioration shouldn't be the norm- not at your age.

Some possibilities are neurological:

Has anyone taken an OVERNIGHT SLEEPING EEG lately? And no, I don't mean an in-office nap, I mean in a home or hospital setting, where you can reach deep sleep. Because some EEG abnormalities only show up in deep sleep, and continued EEG abnormalities - even if they don't spread and cause outright seizures- can definitely decay the functions in the lobes where they occur.

Maybe you're not getting enough sleep? Or enough good sleep? A sleep study ... which can be part of an overnight EEG ... would help elucidate that. If the problem is worse in winter: maybe you're just too damn cold to sleep well.

Possibly your thyroid hormones are too low. I don't recall why you take meds, but if you still have your thyroid and its low, has anyone considered Hashimoto's thyroiditis? Again, the first symptoms are neurological.

It could be nutritional: Are you getting enough B12? For people over 50, their B12 absorption drops considerably, and the first symptoms are neurological. Are you getting enough choline? Enough iodine? Are you anemic, or marginal? Even if your blood iron is within the normal range, if your iron STORES (liver, bone marrow) are low it can cause symptoms of anemia. Low B1. I can think off several nutritional deficiencies that can cause fuzzy thinking as the first, major, or only symptom.

It seems to me, BRENDA, that somebody should be trying to get to the bottom of this. I think this could very well be physical, and not psychological. (Doctors tend to tell you that's it's psychological when they have a difficult diagnosis. Heck, I knew someone, personally, who was told she was "depressed" when she had a pituitary tumor.) It could be one thing, or a combination of things. But given your medical history, there are several obvious avenues to pursue. I wish I could help!
