Crisp cold mornings, sunny days and lots of autumn colour. Loving the weather

Out for my walk in a bit on what seems like a sunny day. Debating about a jacket. Holiday Monday up here.

That's the best weather there is, IMHO.

After nearly destroying the lawn by obsessively/compulsively mowing it too short all last spring and summer, I joked to my Dad that it looked like Harvey Weinstein's face after the snow melted in March. OPPS!

I've only mowed it 4 times so far this year, and I'm using the highest setting on the mower every time. It actually looks phenomenal compared to last year. And even though I still had dandelions after weed 'n feed applications last year, it was half of what it used to be, and since I wasn't obsessing over it I can hardly believe that the season has already passed and I'd hardly even given it any thought compared to how they were plaguing my thoughts last year.

Tomorrow I'm going to get my hoses out and hopefully spray the weed 'n feed and get my proper insect poison spread around the foundation of the house and garage.

I really wish I took pictures of how bad I let this house look back in the depths of the drinking so I could really compare them to how everything looks now.

Light years.

As long as you're doing what you're capable of and can look back on your day and be pleased with the work, you've got nothing to feel bad about at the end of the day. You've been through a lot this last year and came out the other side of it. Don't hurt yourself or press yourself too hard. The lawn will always be waiting for you tomorrow.

And the rain is looking to make a return. At least by tomorrow night.

Oops... I read the instructions on the lawn spray and that's out of the question today. You're supposed to do it when there won't be any rain for at least 48 hours and it's supposed to rain pretty heavy tomorrow with more rain through Friday.

I dunno how I forgot that since I did it last year. I must have been mixing up the directions with my "everything" killer that says it's okay if it rains even 30 minutes after application.

At this point I think it might be a little late in the year to do it and I should probably wait until fall. If I can get a good day to do it before the end of may I'll still do it now though. I really don't think it needs the "feed" part that much this year since everything is so full and green.

Still going to get the hoses set up and drop the insect killer.

I'd really like to get the rest of my new shelving in the garage finished too, but I haven't been able to find too much scrap 2" boards from other people and 2x4's are still $6 a piece right now.

I'll have to find something else to start on that isn't one of my major projects. I've got some other obligations this week and I don't like getting into anything heavy when I know I've got to break away from it imminently.

Heading out in a bit. Couple of things to do before I head to the dentist.

Back from the dentist and both teeth filled. Dentist did a really good job too. Now, it is soup for supper just to be careful and there is still some freezing in the left side of my upper lip and nose.
