Thanks Frem.
It never seems to matter how much evidence you can put forward or how many times it happens. 99% of us seem to have 99% amnesia. We're not even done creating one clusterfuck when we run off to create another, not even remembering how we got ourselves into the last one... or the previous 10. ![]()

Well, this one might linger awhile...
Right, Left or Center, the general attitude towards the whole Ukraine mess seems to be This is bullshit! - now of course depending on faction and flavor, the WHY its bullshit to them might differ significantly, but the general consensus overall, is bovine waste.

Quote:Rappy- if you read my post about the vid, you wouldn't be posting this.
Sig - if you saw my posted vid of Dems mocking Mitt over his Russia point, and are still trying to pick a fight when you actually are AGREEING with me ( per your funny of Obama & Putin ), then I'm at a loss for words. The central point being, all those Dems were stunningly wrong, yet all had the audacity to say Mitt said something " stupid ".
Here, I'll keep it simple. Obama is wrong. Mitt is wrong. They're BOTH wrong. Utterly, fantastically, 150% wrong. There, clear enough? And the reason is...
Quote:Russia is NOT our geopolitical foe. I said that already, but you seem to have missed that point, too. I'm CERTAIN you have a reading problem! Let me repeat it
The issue at hand is the array of Dems, and the asinine comments they made about Mitt, per his views on Russian being our geopolitical foe.
Quote:
Russia isn't MY geopolitical foe. Al Qaida, maybe. China, probably. Corporations, definitely. But Russia???? Not really!
See?
I think Mittens is wrong for saying (maybe even thinking) that Russia is our main geopolitical foe. In kindergarten terms... terms perhaps you'll understand... any problems we've had with Russia is because WE STARTED IT.
Obama is wrong too, but for an entirely different reason: He has neocon appointees like Nuland over which he seems to have no control. Nuland, you may recall, bragged that the USA has spent FIVE BILLION DOLLARS TO DESTABILIZE THE UKRAINE. That's a pretty damning admission. It would be as is China were to brag that they spent $10 billion to destabilize Canada... and managed to do it, replacing a democratically-elected pro-US government with a pro-Chinese one, and started establishing missile bases on our border. DO you think we'd react? YOU BETCHA!
Quote:
After three visits to Ukraine in five weeks, Victoria Nuland explains that in the past two decades, the United States has spent five Billion dollars ($5,000,000,000) to subvert Ukraine, and assures her listeners that there are prominent businessmen and government officials who support the US project to tear Ukraine away from its historic relationship with Russia and into the US sphere of interest (via “Europe”).

So, yanno- I'm sorry to say that your understanding of the situation... reducing it to some sort of Democrat-Republican football game analogy... is a flea-sized understanding of a large event. Real life isn't like a football game. There are larger events- sometimes non-human ones- that we have to pay attention to. Things that go beyond the Republican-Democrat game. By analogy, a storm surge which floods out a stadium is a bigger event than a football game. Also, when it comes to picking sides, you should pick more carefully. Sometimes neither side is worth picking.

The Ballad Of Vlad
Vlad! ... the man they call Vlad! ...
He sent in masked troops to Crimea's shore
Stood up to Obama and gave him what for
Ukraine's fear of him now is making them mad
The KGB hero, the man they call Vlad.
Now Vlad likes to wrestle tigers
He catches fish with only his hands
He looked around at the world's leaders
And saw they had no masculine glands.
So he said I can do whatever I want to
And tell the world to kiss my ass
And if the EU or NATO has a problem
I'll just turn off their oil and gas.
He sent in masked troops to Crimea's shore
Stood up to Obama and gave him what for
Ukraine's fear of him now is making them mad
The KGB hero, the man they call Vlad.

I just love the condescending tone of the Left. When you don't agree, or when they're flat out wrong, it's always the other guy who " doesn't understand ".
Yes, those who aren't in your camp are idiots, can't read, and have a 5th grade education.
Mitt was , and listen to this closely, 100% right. And that pisses off the Left so unbelievably, they can't see straight.
Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen
I'm just a red pill guy in a room full of blue pill addicts.

Quote:Is this your education level? I thought that you went to Auburn, being such an Auburn fan. Surely you can do better than this! Unless you got thru on a football scholarship.... hmmm... that could explain a lot.

Quote:You repeating the same thing over and over again doesn't make YOUR SECONDHAND OPINION any more convincing than it was the first time around (which, BTW, I heard and answered... twice).
Mitt was , and listen to this closely, 100% right.
It seems to me that with all the time you spend on this board, you would have learned a little bit about how to make a case for YOUR OPINION. Bring some history to the table, explain to us why you think Russia is (yet another one of our) number-one enemies. Show us where they have threatened OUR INTERESTS... show us how those events (assuming you can actually find any) have cost us.... the USA... a loss of territorial integrity or internal safety. If you make a case that we have an interest in such far-flung places as Syria and Georgia, Asian continent (not Georgia USA... altho frankly I'm not sure we have an interest there either) show us what those interests are. Using words like "freedom" (which you can't even define) doesn't count. Be specific, be real.
I may counterpose other thoughts and other history to yours. Up for the challenge? Or are you gonna be all trollish?

Future headlines and first paras. Not predictions, just projections of plausible future events.
KIEV AND THE WEST CALL CRIMEAN VOTE A "SHAM"
The government in Kiev called the Crimean referendum a "sham". Citing territorial integrity, the government in Kiev - which has yet to stand for election- said it would refuse to recognize the vote, and that Crimea should be returned to the Ukraine.
KIEV DELAYS NATIONAL ELECTIONS
Citing national security, the transitional government of Kiev has canceled national elections indefinitely. When asked whether this would effect aid and loan guarantees from the West, and IMF loans, western sources and IMF head Christine Lagarde said they did not foresee any difficulty with the Ukrainian government being able to maintain its financial authority over the nation. There are many upcoming agreements to be signed with the EU.
KIEV ANNOUNCES AUSTERITY
Because of the cutoff of natural gas deliveries and the subsequent price hike, the transitional Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatseniuk, has announced that natural gas subsidies would be cut back significantly. The IMF has insisted, as it has done with most of its governmental loans, that subsidies be cut in order to shore up governmental finances. Yatseniuk, himself a banker and favored by the United States to head the transitional government, has full authority to obtain loans and sign international agreements, according to the EU and the USA.
KIEV CLAIMS RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE IN DONETSK AND OTHER EASTERN CITIES, SENDS IN TROOPS
Kiev has claimed that Russian troops, disguised as pro-Russian militants, have taken over government buildings and have shot several Ukrainian citizens. Kiev has sent in troops from western Ukraine to quell these disturbances and oust the invaders.

STEP ONE: KIEV AND THE WEST CALL CRIMEAN VOTE A "SHAM"
Quote:
Outside Crimea's parliament, the leaving party for Ukraine - and the welcome celebration for Russia - had begun. Crowds of people waved flags and sang Russian pop songs, delighted that, as far as their newly-installed regional government was concerned, they now live in the Russian Federation.
The law was rushed through the autonomous province's parliament, with 79 of 81 MPs backing the proposal to leave Ukraine. There is, of course, the small matter of the region's referendum on that same question, now brought forward to 16 March. Crimea's First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Temirgaliev told me he was certain of victory.
"Ukrainians will become Russian citizens here", he said. "We will win this vote with 70 or 75%. The referendum is legitimate."
But Kiev begs to differ. The new Ukrainian Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, has called the move "illegitimate and with no legal basis" [unlike the current President and partial Rada in Kiev?] as Ukraine's constitution states that any change to its borders must be approved by the whole country.

Referendum still to be held, but events are moving faster than I anticipated.
