I'll predict that the number of uninsured in America will miraculously drop, if it wasn't already announced today - haven't checked news yet.

Jumped back into this thread to see the new posts in the last few days and found this one. Heard a piece on the radio the other night-- the Euro is still going strong, somebody else is now predicted about to bail out, Greece is still in, and has recovered.
Isn't Krugman, once he gets over his conservative bias, supposed to actually be an economist?
Yes Krugman is an economist but no, not a conservative - he's solidly liberal. I find his predictions are generally good when they're purely economics; where he falls down (sometimes) is on his judgment of the politics. In the above quote he made the mistake (like a lot of American commentators) of underestimating European politicians' commitment to make the Euro work, and European countries willingness to suffer the pain of austerity.
Here's his latest prediction:
Krugman predicts that Sweden is going to find it 'very hard' to get out of its deflation trap.

This is my favorite thread on the whole site, by the way. For all the mountains of bullshit the right heaps on us - its nice to have a running record of how consistently they are proven wrong.
Its also just purely amusing that they avoid this thread like the plague.

When Auraptor, Whozit, Hero etc. predicted that Obama would be crushed in 2012, and that Romney would win in a landslide, etc., etc., that was a prediction that came out of their worldview - that Obama is a marxist, an AlQaeda sympathiser, an America hater, a race-baiter, etc., and that the country had gone halfway to hell in his first 4 years. When I hear a poster claiming things like 'Benghazi will be Obama's Watergate', I think to myself this person has been whipped up into a frenzy by her partisan media. She's not living in the real world. So I post the prediction here, and it's stored for posterity, and people can see how the prediction bears out.
My aim was to show a thoroughly terrible track record of conservative predictions, pointing to the fact that modern conservatives have hyper-ideological, partisan media-warped worldviews. And that they don't live in the real world.
