Really? I thought they were only together for like 2 episodes. There might have been some episodes where there were scenes where one or the other pinned for the other. Beyond that I don't think it took up much screen time.

I agree. If you had a happily married couple, you could find plenty of drama in it: If you love someone, then any danger to them (such as a disappearance, injury, arrest, etc.), could put us all on the edge of our seats. Not to mention adding kids into the mix, and all the danger they could encounter.

We joke that Mal writes fanfic, because he's imagining what his crew's lives will be like in twenty years. He's rather creative about it, too.

I'm not refering to when they were together as a couple but about the huge lead up to them getting together. This had really been in place since season three. By the time season five came along the same patter between Wes and Fred was old. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I hated it, but it would just weigh down the show. It was a subplot in which the conclusions just appeared so obvious and yet there it was every episode being given so much attention.

I just much prefered that season when the relationship was done with.

But the dynamic of the two brothers struggling through thier lives (such as they are) and overcoming obstacles together is in essence akin to a marriage. I would even suggest that were the two characters of that show a married couple instead of brothers, that there would possibly have been even greater scope within the stories.

But I think it's an angle that TV struggles to engage with. Which is a pity

I absolutely agree that there would be more drama, etc, possible.

I think having the protagonists be brothers is more accepted, in that two guys running around getting into trouble is such a typical scenario that one would almost expect big mischief to ensue as a matter of course.

Supernatural tackles some culturally entrenched stuff, religous wise, and the story has gotten so edgy that to add a marriage and all its traditions/beliefs/sensitive issues into the slurry of stuff that happens in that show might just be too much. I mean, the whole idea of these ancient biblical stories/prophecies being revealed as something as mundane as an old fued within a family! I am not disrespecting anyone's faith, but Supernatural spun out a new interpretation of the bible that some people might get pretty upset over. I mean, all those other dieities sitting around in that hotel meeting room carping about the snobby Christian dieties, thinking they're "the only ones"!! It was a delightful surprise, and funny, imho.
