Can you still enjoy Firefly as much as the first time you watched it?

Sadly the answer for me would be a big no.

I popped in the Blu-Ray the other night of the pilot, and heaven help me....I couldn't get into it.

Don't get me wrong I still love the show, but I think over watching it in the past years has dulled me on it just a bit.

I will try watching it again In a couple months. Crossing my fingers that I get just one tenth of the magic back I had watching it first run.

There is no way the twentieth time (and I am sure I've watched it that many) can be as special as the first, second or third time for any series or movie. It has been about six months since I've watched, but I did watch it completely in short order right after I got the Blu-Ray set, followed by Serenity of course. It is still my favorite show of all time.

I put it away for several months and when I return to it I get the same wonderful feeling the first time I saw it.

Depends on the circumstance for me. Over the last five years I've been frequently travelling to Australia. The flight is around 24hours and believe me you need your friends. Luckily for me I can watch Firefly and SERENITY during the course of the journey on my PSP and it really helps in getting me through the long flight.
As such I still love watching it. It's incredibly special to do so even at 35000 feet.
Perhaps the initial wonder has dissipated some but the joy is very much still there.

Yeah, it gets harder to recapture that magic on repeated viewings, but I still get a kick out my favorite scenes, sayings, music and fun.

So the answer is No, not like the first, or second, time. But I loves my BDH.

Not for me although I do still really enjoy watching it but that initial experience will always be the best.
This applies to all media simply because from the second viewing onwards you know that plot, you know the twists, you know some of the lines and the humour. Even if you pick up on things that you never saw in an earlier viewing and it brings a greater understanding, you still know how the episode ultimately ends up.

I fall into the type viewer who watches the whole series/movie about every 1-2 years. The main reason being that I don't want it to become a chore where I do start to struggle to get through it and not enjoy it as much. I don't get the folks who seem to watch it all the time and state that they have a disc almost constantly in their DVD player. To me that's overkill by a long way but it's their choice and I respect that. I personally (at this stage after the show ended) have other shows I want to watch more than re-watching Firefly.

I'll always enjoy watching all the episodes, but during the 4th of July weekend the Science Channel ran a "Firefly" marathon, all I could think about was that 9 years have gone by and the cast and crew has moved on.

I wonder if that's a Blu-Ray thing, I used to watch it all the time, on the original DVDs. Bought the Blu-Ray DVDs and a Blu-Ray player, just so I could watch it. Watched FF TWICE- once to view the eps, once for the commentaries. Haven't watched FF since, and nothing on any DVD , especially not a Blu-Ray disc.

Don't know how it could be, or why, but it seems to be a common phenomenon among us here.

Any of you conspiracy types got any theories? Blue laser leakage? Radiation? Alien influence? Subliminal messaging? Fruity oatey bar commercials?
