1) Nicely written, low in budget, but creative as Hell(Mouth).
2) Too much teen angst, but ambitious, and totally entertaining.
3) Wow. Just, Wow. Raise the bar, why don't you?
4) Fun season, nice new boyfriend, good transition to college- if you dislike it, HUSH!
5) Glory was funny, but the whole season didn't work for me. Fool For Love was its saving grace.
Kill Mom, Kill Buffy...
6) Ahh, dark Willow. I can work with that.
And Once More With Feeling... awesome!!!
7) Now we're TALKIN"!!! My favourite season by far. Best music. Best fights. Andrew... "Chosen"... and I even didn't mind Kennedy!
Poor Anya & Xander, though.

Reviwed and in order of appreciation:
1) Season Three - Strong arc all the way through, great individual episodes - Slayerfest 1999, Oz going Wolf, Mayor Wilkins, Wish and Graduation Day... Simply brilliant!
2) Season Two - Spike and Drusilla. Best villains and Buffy was still 'cute'
3) Season Four - The best for laughs and the best for music (take a bow Christophe Beck). Has Restless, and Hush which are serious contenders for best episodes ever.
4) Season Seven - Wrapped up nicely. Brilliant to see Buffy smile, and Principle Woods' story was clever. Plus y'know Nathan as Caled - best villain since Spike and Drusilla.
5) Season Five - Hmm. All that hopsital action with Joyce is tough to revisit but it had a cracking finalé, and I kinda liked the idea of Dawn. Glory was tiresome though.
6) Season One - It's just fun, and Xander falling for Buffy was heart-wrenching. Willow is awesome and unlike any major character on TV and Buffy becomes an ICON.
7) Season Six - The only one I truly don't like. Willow is a different character, and the darkness is contrived and the finalé is just embarrasing.
Season Three has always been my favourite, It's about as perfect as can be. Over the years I've appreciated season Four more than I did first time around as it has the best laughs, but It'll probably never push season Two from 2nd place because of Spike and Drusilla who frankly make season two so good.

But she wasn't just a Heroine - she was an ICON. Joss killed an Icon! It was really rather brave... Pity it didn't end there, it would have been epic!
Season six made me feel that Buffy slipped into Dawsons Creek territory.

When Joyce died, it was SO painful to watch- it was like re-living the time when I was called home to see my own Mom lifeless on her bed...
Yes, it was a masterfully done ep, yes, it was high art in its way, but for me, it was waaay to close to the bone...
And placing it in a season full of Glory shenanigans just made it that much more unsettling for me.

I've not had that personally big 'C', but I did have to endure two years of my mother in and out of hospital, with each visit promising a cure. She got lucky because one such visit did provide one, but it was harrowing for some time, and incredibly exhausting. Another reason why season five is hard to re-watch for me.

I'm currently re-watching the series (midway through 4 right now) so I shall opine once I'm done.

I understand big 'C' but I just couldn't buy the darkness given she had just come back from the dead. Surely what she was going through with Spike was well... not that bad! Least she was alive! I mean the guys a louse sure but so what? I think the 'Buffy is in such a bad place' thing was just too rammed down out throats it became contrived, especially as all this guilt over an unforbidden relationship had been done already with Angel.
Add to that, the other characters and their individual woes and really you are taking your audince to a place they already know where you're going. So much so that the idea that Xander and Anya were going to actually get married was ridiculous. I must say there were about seven or eight episodes where it just didn't do anything I wasn't expecting - which for Buffy was unusual.
As you know I re-watched six again to give it a second chance and the best episode for me was NORMAL AGAIN. That was very interesting and genuinely conjured conflict in me as a viewer. I'd have loved that arc for four or five episodes! But what ya going to do. I guess there has to be one season which falters compared to the others right... Mine just happens to be Season Six.

Personally, I though Glory was just silly. And the reasoning behind Dawn just didn't work for me. It was too much nonsense in what was essentially a downward spiral in her life, eventually ending in her death.
The thing I liked about six is that it was just DARK (you know, aside from the terrible trio). And she found her way out. And Spike fought for his soul!!! And Willow was gorram SCARY!!!
And Xander got to save the day!!!!
