I note that non-reproductive altruism is a common genetic encoding for socially organized animals, such as insects, and certain mammals, including humans.

So it's perfectly within the first and second standard deviation of human thought and behaviour. These non-reproductive altruistic tendencies can manifest through alternative sexual orientations, including absence of sexual orientation and lack of interest/attraction to either gender. To this small grouping of people, it could therefore also be within reason that sex might seem pointless, and unhygienic.

Your recommendation comes across like telling a gay man to try women again because he is over analytical/hyper-critical of his experiences with them.

I am NOT going to debate the pleasures of the flesh with someone who takes pride in NOT having them... This thread is about sex and I'm all for it!!! If you don't like it then why post here at all? It's like going to an Anti-gay rally when you are gay, which would be extremly masochistic and antagonizing and therefore illogical.

I understand why you are the way you are and respect your right to be that way and at the same time will always think of people like you as slightly damaged. If you got the parts and they work you were meant to use 'em. I'd say the same thing to anyone who would cut off a piece or decide not to use a part and tell 'em they were being (at best) illogical.

You will not convince me that asexuality is a norm... Deviations ARE normal, the deviant is not. You also can't tell me that you don't feel in the slightest bit left out -at the very least on a spiritual level because I can tell you from experience that you are MISSING OUT...Humanity is a communal species because it is advantageous to be so! You are at a disadvantage, whether or not you have chosen asexuality... If you are happy being illogical, great, I'm happy for ya!

I called you neither illogical nor damaged. Again, I'm wondering why I'm eliciting such a strong negative response from you, you're coming across as very defensive. When I say sex is gross, that does not mean I'm saying people who have it are gross. MB might, but he likes to be contrary.

This thread asked for what people think is the point of sex, and the question posed was whether sex should be about pleasure for the partner or pleasure for the self. This does not require any particular experience with sex to comment on, or any particular fondness for sex. My initial answer, BTW, was not "eww gross," but rather that for survival reasons pleasure in sex should probably be mutual.

I will not respect any of your suggestions that I should censor my opinion for your benefit, or get out. Nor should I.

I don't particularly get it either Iremist. Byte is as entitled to her opinion as anyone else is, and people often post in threads about something and express disdain or negativity about the topic.

Having the parts and not using them doesn't mean one is damaged; there are many reasons not to have sex in one's life, none of which necessarily have to do with being "damaged". It's a choice, and I guarantee life can be quite fulfilling without needing sex, especially for women!

I realize the sexual drive in men is pretty ingrained and makes it difficult for them to consider life without sex acceptable, but I think calling someone "damaged" OR "illogical"for choosing not to have sex is pretty pathetic.

There are many ways to be spiritual, with or without someone else, and many ways to connect and to love as well. I think your judgmentalism is unfounded and rather rude; what YOU believe isn't necessarily what the whole world believes, and I see no reason Byte should feel disadvantaged or missing out.

"Agreeing to disagree" is not a matter for judgment or censure. I think your judgment is unfair and inappropriate. Just my opinion.
