Firefly books and comics

My wife just got me "Float Out", which is the first of the Firefly/Serenity comix I've gotten my hands on. She just got in late last night, so I haven't had a chance to look at it very close, but it was still way shiny of her to get it for me!

Fun! Hope nothing's been spoiled for you yet. Float Out's kind of a pick up for everyone who was sad about Wash.
If after you read it you're interested in the others, both of the other two are a pretty good read. Those Left Behind, you kind of get the sense the artists were still getting a feel for the character design, but the writing is pitch perfect.
I'd say Better Days is my favourite, though. Character designs and art are more consistent, it carries on having the pitch perfect dialogue and writing, it has some excellent what ifs and character development/moments. And what's more Firefly than "there's an exciting action-packed heist, lots of big laughs, then some consequences?"

Thanks, Byte; no, no spoilers yet. I haven't really had that much luck finding the Firefly/Serenity comix locally; the local comic store with the best rep seems to not be that much into our 'verse. That, or they just sell out really quickly. But the wife found a really cool place in Seattle that had some great stuff, and they were REALLY into Firefly, so were happy and proud to show her all their goodies.
Oh, and she picked me up another of the Buffy Season 8 comix as well.
I'm not way into the comix and graphic novels, but I like picking up Buffy, Angel, and Firefly stuff when I get a chance, just because I loved all three of those universes, and like to spend time there when I can.
She also picked me up what purports to be a "shooting script" of "The Train Job" episode, but is probably just a bound bunch of Xeroxed pages that looks like a script. But it's still pretty cool, anyway, and I like it. And it's timely, too, since I just watched that episode on the Blu-Ray collection I picked up off Amazon.
Just a few little things to add to my FF/SerenityWhedon collection. I'm not obsessed. Really! I'm NOT! I can stop anytime! (But who would want to?)

These days, you don't need to hit a comic store for most of your Joss comics, especially if you're willing to wait.
Both of the SERENITY miniseries have been collected into trade paperbacks that are available at sources like Amazon (I'm sure they were also available at major book chains, but don't know how well they've kept them stocked). You can get THOSE LEFT BEHIND and BETTER DAYS for less than 25 bucks (just make sure you're getting the TPBs, and not individual issues, some of which are quite expensive these days).
BUFFY: SEASON EIGHT and ANGEL: AFTER THE FALL have also been collected into trade paperbacks (generally of about 4-6 issues each, I think), so if you're interested in those ongoing stories, you can actually just hit Amazon two or three times a year rather than the comic store once a month.
