they don't have a particular order (other than the one that has multiple parts of course and then 1, 2, 3 lol) but as long as you have seen all the episodes of Firefly, you can read the comics in any order.Watching Serenity before reading the comics will give more of a "ooo so thats how we got here" feel where as if you haven't seen the movie it is more linear sense.
They are not linked. Unless float out, is, since it is so new I have not read it.

Thank you! I just re-watched Serenity and really didn't want it to end there again. Im looking though the comics on amazon right now, any recommendations for what i should get first?

"Those we left behind" covers the period between the series and the film. "Better Days" is a stand alone story, set in the Series time frame. "Float out" is set after the BDM, but flashbacks on the backstory of Hoban Washburn.
"A Shepherd's Tale" will give us Book's Backstory, very soon now.

Don't forget about the web comic, Serenity: The Other Half.

Actually, I'd say Better Days is after the series, but before Those Left Behind.
Better Days, the crew has the new hovermule they got after they blew the old one up on Niska's complex, and the cargo-bay has had it's redesign for the movie, and I suspect the engine has been upgraded as well. So all of that was after the series ended, but before Inara leaves.
The upgrades were supposedly paid for with the Lassiter money, when they finally sold it.
It doesn't really matter with Better Days, though, it's more just a fun lark/heist thing.

Uh, yeah, there's been a few discussion threads, mostly about the new stories.
They both reveal stuff, and don't. But in a foreshadowy way.
The interviews are fun too, although people who watch for that kinda thing on the web won't see anything new. But if that doesn't interest you, there's a lot of explanation about the production and stuff, and conversations about a few practical jokes.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the continuity goes like this:
1-Firefly: The Complete Series
1a-Better Days (seems to occur within the series)
2-Those Left Behind
3-The Other Half
4-Serenity: The Movie
5-Float Oat
Despite Bytemite's well-reasoned thoughts on visuals, I think that character has to trump comsetics, and the Mal/Inara dynamic in BETTER DAYS is clearly pre-HEART OF GOLD. I think things like which mule they have, what the cargo bay looks like, etc, are explained by the fact that this is a "SERENITY" comic, and uses the movie (not the series) as visual reference.
Or, it could just be sloppy editing, like Jayne refering to River as a psychic killer an episode before he realizes she is...
THOSE LEFT BEHIND basically serves as the Season One finale, and the bridge to the movie, but THE OTHER HALF seems, character-wise, to take place after (both in who's in the crew, and the Mal/River dynamic).
FLOAT OUT stands as the ONLY piece of post-SERENITY continuity we have to date.

Mal strikes me as very belligerent and confrontational towards Inara in Better Days, which I always took to be as a result of her leaving. (And his suspicions about a Simon/Inara affair)
But I guess your mileage could vary.
The Message used to be after Objects in Space, so it didn't use to be an edit mistake.
The Other Half is definitely after Those Left Behind.
