Figured I'd share this one with ya folks since it's just so neat.

Stumbled upon an old and overlooked Anime series called "Irresponsible Captain Tylor" - and it's certainly interesting.

Tylor himself is a Kropotkinist-Anarchist, or at least VERY darn close to one in thought and action, and as such is something of a goofball, not to mention a lazy, lecherous*, slacker type...
Who on the surface APPEARS to be dense and clueless, but is in fact anything but.

And he winds up by fate and fortune in charge of a starship that's a dumping ground for rejects, during an escalating war....

Hilarity ensues.

It's well worth a watch, I spent most of today tracking down a full set of english DVDs, good LUCK, cause they ain't easy to find at any price.

I won't dish out no spoilers though, y'all will have to taste the awesomeness yourselves.
Here's a sample, courtesy of Melzers AMV.

I did find it interesting that they patterned the other guys quite faithfully after the Roma Gypsies in thought and culture, which adds an interesting flavor in a situation where nobody is technically "wrong" and yet bloodshed still happens.

If you get to episode 23 though, well, you'll know.

*- And boy does he, Tylor takes lechery and shameless flattery to whole new levels, up to and including taking advantage of an AI and getting accused of knocking up the Raalgon princess-empress!

Never heard of Spider Jerusalem before. Had to Wiki it. I'm very NOT up on anime or comix, but it looks like I'll have to track down some of the Transmetropolitan trade paperbacks. As a longtime fan of Hunter Thompson (and yes, he WAS quite the bastard, but at his best he was also an amazing writer), Spider sounds right up my (darkened) alley!

I can't run no more
with that lawless crowd
while the killers in high places
say their prayers out loud.
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
a thundercloud
and they're going to hear from me.

Just cause imma in the mood to cause chaos and disorder...

There IS, mind you, a slight visual resemblence, and yes I'm using a low quality image deliberately.

If I wanted to cosplay the old bastard I could prolly pull it off.

I am bumping this one up for Chrisisall, mostly.

I finally watched all 26eps of the original TV run, and there's no doubt about it, Tylor is a Kropotkinist-Anarchist.

The series itself also happens to be wacky enough to be laff a minnit funny if you've the right sense of humor for it, the beginning of Episode 7 left me on the floor laughing so hard I thought I was gonna die.

Gettin my hands on it wasn't easy, however.

Indeed it is, I am still waiting for my OVA set to come in, cause I so want more.

I tend to personally empathise more with Ru Baraba Dom than Tylor though.
