what other shows do you like

Sarah Connor. I don't usually watch stuff. There are a few of yore that rose above the banal level. I watch Dr. Who sometimes, catch up. Most stuff just becomes banal given the chance.
Oh, before I get flamed, just what I think of ass banal list:
1. Nothing changes, put everything back where you found it.
2. Characters are ultimately good, or evil, and not complicated in any way.
3. Normal everyday life events occur that you could observe by going outside rather than watching TV
4. Tired moral perspectives like PC dominate the storyscape.
5. A writer hits you over the head with a message.
6. Characters who fight for the sake of melodrama, while not driving the story forward.
7. Comedy that isnt funny. atm, that would be everything.
8. Oh, I'll think of more and edit later
If anyone knows of any shows that avoid these pitfalls, let me know. :)

If you want challenging morality, Battlestar Galactica delivers in spades. It does suffer from mid-season padding, though (almost literally, in the case of Lee Adama in S3

Try "Life on Mars" (the original UK version - can't speak for the USA remake) for good PC vs. non-PC banter in which the PC doesn't necessarily win the day. OK, so if you are from the US (or under 35) you're going to wonder where the hell "Camberwick Green" is and what the deal is about the little girl with the noughts and crosses (sorry, tic-tac-toe) board, but you sound like you could cope...
Edit: of course, if you are in the UK, Life on Mars has finished, the spin-off "Ashes to Ashes" isn't a patch, we're in a Dr Who dry spell, "Demons" is crap and for BSG you'll either have to get Murdochvision or buy it on DVD. Sigh. At least we got a new Wallace and Gromit at Christmas...

I have quite the list going on right now. I watch The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Chuck, Heroes, Terminator: TSCC, Bones, House, Fringe, Supernatural, Burn Notice, Stargate: Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica and I will soon be adding Dollhouse to that list.
Luckily I just got a new DVR, because I had been using a VCR (or as my roommate called it a "Ghetto TiVo") to watch all these shows.

Love "Stargate Atlantis", "Fringe", "Eli Stone", "Heroes", "Eureka", and "Lost". I also like "Supernatural" but missed so much of Season Two that I am awaiting the re-runs to catch up. If we're talking old favourites then right at the top of my list is the epic "Babylon 5". Go really far back and it's the original "Lost In Space" and "Land of the Giants". Um, showing my gorram age now...LOL!

Is anyone on the board under 35? I've spent some time in the UK and still don't know what "Camberwick Green" is
I could google.
As for the access, I don't have a TV, but there's hulu.com, free murdochvision. Slightly annoying that they don't keep past seasons.

Anyway, I borrowed season 1 of BSG from my friend today so am going to give it a try, he insists it's better than Firefly although I'm sceptical as I've seen the miniseries already, and wasn't that impressed.
