Quote:I actually can't seem to verify it 100% on any site; it's more like hearsay. Sure, peeps are on record saying they heard Bush say it, but that's not like a transcript or a recording...looks like I have to concede that you may right on this one, AU!

It was in a Cabinet-level staff meeting...You can't really expect it to be available on tape...Or , even in a transcript form...Not yet , anyway...
Considering how very-much-in-character the attribution seems , I find it plausible...
I used to have some docs concerning this quotation , but I don't any more...
My recollection is that it was a Justice Department attorney that the ire was directed against , but it will require some further digging to produce verification...

There is this , which pretty much concurs with my angle on the quote :

'...For the President of the United States to verbally wipe the floor with the Constitution and curse it in the way Bush has and it go virtually unreported serves as an indication of the threat America is facing today from an Elite power structure that cares nothing for the country it has usurped and is hell bent on centralizing power globally and undermining the principles America was founded on.
The US is a Constitutional Republic, yet to Bush's handlers, the globalist Neocons, that is not part of the agenda. In an entirely Orwellian fashion they have attempted to change the meaning of "Democracy" and adopt it as a form of governance to fit their agenda. The word democracy originates from three Greek words meaning "the people", "to rule," and the suffix ía; the term therefore means "rule by the people" by which is meant rule by the majority.
The framers of the U.S. Constitution were notably cognizant of what they perceived as a danger of majority rule in oppressing freedom of the individual or "Tyranny of the majority". For example, James Madison, in Federalist Paper No. 10 advocates a republic over a democracy precisely to protect the individual from the majority. However, at the same time, the framers carefully created democratic institutions and major open society reforms within the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They kept what they believed were the best elements of democracy, but mitigated by a balance of power and a layered federal structure.
So the word "democracy" refers solely to direct democracy, whilst a representative democracy where representatives of the people govern in accordance with a constitution is a Republic.'

The original source of that quote was Wayne Madsen, a guy I trust even *LESS* than Alex Jones or Mike Rivero cause he's deliberately shovelled proven disinformation and even resorted to "poisoning the well" tactics on occasion.
I'm sure PN ain't got much nice to say about his ass neither.
Ergo, I would not take the exact quote as any kind of valid, Chris... but spoken or not, the current administration clearly feels that way.

The preponderance of the evidence is that it is TRUE. "Preponderance of evidence" is the burden of proof (51%) in civil trials, and for probable cause in criminal arrests. Bush failed to sue for defamation, which would require him to testify under oath, and allow subpoena of eyewitnesses. Bush perped millions of felonies in violation of the Constitution, so that circumstantial evidence proves this a TRUE beyond a reasonable doubt (95% certain), the burden of proof to convict in a criminal case.
Here's the original article. The reporter, Doug Thompson, is a long-time journalist with DC connections, and is the founder of Capitol Hill Blue. This piece appeared in “The Rant” section, quoting eyewitnesses in the White House.

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.
Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.
GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.
“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”
“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”
I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper.”![]()

No offense, I think this sort of thread is divisive.
You can only succeed in cornering someone into defending Bush, something no one, not even Auraptor, really wants to do.
It reminds me of that interview with Jon Stewart and Huckabee. He tried to corner him on gay marriage. Imagine what kind of political suicide it would be for a democrat to say "I think abortion is infanticide" even if they really believed it. They could never say it. Gnaw that over, and you'll grasp what I'm saying about cornered.
Cornering people is divisive, because it forces them to cling to the extreme or admit defeat to the other side and simultaneously alienate everyone on their side.
We all hate Bush, most people can't say it. From now on, I'm just going kibitz more briefly anything I think is inappropriate, ie., just leads to divisiveness, conflict, offending people or forcing those defensive walls to go up.
If Auraptor as an ally disturbs some people, just picture this: The US has Saudi Arabia as an ally. In fact, there's not a power in the world that doesn't have a situation that bad or worse. No one mentions this, and I hesitate two, because I'm really a great admirer of the Islamic Revolution (shocked? So is the National Review. It's not a rare position for right wingers to hold, they just can't say it) but here's Iran's weakest point: They have Robert Mugabe as an ally.
China's weakest: Kim Jong Il, with Hugo Chavez as a close second.
Next to any of these people, Auraptor is a saint. Count yourself lucky.
:)
Peace out
