I never said or even hinted that Rahm was the 'target' of the tapes, but I'm sure there's LOTS of different folks on those tapes, and only a tiny fraction of what the Feds have has been released. Why tis it taking DAYS for Obama to find out if anyone from his staff has talked to Gov Blago ? Barack should be able to pick up the phone, utter a command to anyone in his transition team that had contact w/ the Gov or his office to be on a list and that list is to be on Barack's desk at the end of the day. Make it happen. This ' days' crap is nothing more than a cover up, a stall for time. Dunno what for, but he's clearly draggin his feet for more time.

it's not that simple. I've been involved in an agency lawsuit where we had to dig up ANY POSSIBLE contact with BPArco. I talk with or email hundreds of people in any given month. I have no idea whether "someone" from BPArco called up and asked for advice on how to do an analysis or needed assistance finding a relevant rule or definition. I had to go back thru my archived emails, I had to check my calendar and my work notes. It took a couple of weeks (in between doing other things, since I also have other work to do).
Applying the same standard (guilty until proven innocent) to Bush as you are to Obama, I would take Bush's refusal to testify alone, under oath b4 the 9-11 Commission as absolute proof that he had something to hide. Wouldn't you?
And why not?

Barry's fillty whores in the press are still doing there best to cover his ass, but Barry is from one of the slimmiest places (politicaly) on the planet. With the Republicans out of power, and whorehouses (newspapers) going out of buisiness, you libs better learn to play defence real fast. Soon your own bitches in the press are going to turn on you to save there own reps.

Quote:Okay, Whozit... but WHY did Republicans take a bath this year?
Sure I'm bitter, Republicans took a bath this year.
Nearly all Americans look to any administration for two things: to keep them, and their standard of living, safe. Once the fright of 9-11 died down (It shouldn't because terrorists are still targeting the USA, but that's another story.) and Iraq was determined not to have been the big bad boogeyman, attention inevitably turned to standard of living. The promise of "trickle down" capitalism is that the benefits of having a wealthy uberclass will eventually... er... trickle down. That didn't happen. The rich got a boatload richer, the middle class was buoyed up by housing speculation, and the poor got poorer. But the housing bubble burst and the slow decline that most people experienced over the past eight years turned into free-fall.
In addition, a lot of Republicans were disappointed in their own party: neither religious enough for the evangelicals nor fiscally conservative enough for the small-government Republicans, the current administration lost much of its own base.
It would be nice if you could get past this "my team versus your team" approach and look at what's good for the entire nation.

Quote:OK, but I could say everything was niffty before the Democrats took control of the House & Senate in 04, but that is now water under the bridge. Next year Barry and his whores in the press will say that Barry inherited this mess, (it is true) but if he does'nt fix ASAP the honeymoon will be over sooner than you think. When the real attacks on Barry begin you'll say "unfair", I'll say "paybacks a bitch".

Quote:Bush is not a crook, and the Washington press whores never showed him respect. He was selected not elected, he's stupid, he lied about WMD's, etc, etc, etc, but all that will be history real soon. Barry is like a pop star, he's hot now but he'll cool off soon enough, and when he does HE will get the grief Bush and the Repulicans are getting now, like I said, pay backs a bitch.

In 30 years peeps are going to look back at the Bush admin as one giant clusterfuck. All administrations have their problems, and every administration screws up at least a couple of important things, but Bush will get an award.

Quote:Perhaps, 30 years ago Carter was prez, "WORST PREZ EVER!" That fat drunk Ted Kennedy ran against him in 1980. Who knows, historins have warmed up to Truman and Nixon over the years, and cooled off to JFK and Johnson.

Quote:Like I said, every administration fucks up a few big ones. Johnson - for all that he tried to do for civil rights- dove into Vietnam with both feet and never got out. To hide th cost of the war he folded Social Security into the Federal budget. Carter, for all that he pushed "human rights", allied himself with the mujahideen and created a nightmare in Afghanistan. (Which led to the downfall of the USSR.)
Historians have warmed up to Truman and Nixon over the years, and cooled off to JFK and Johnson.
Let me try a more balanced statement: Every President inherits problems from the previous President. Bush inherited several whoppers: Al Qaida, China trade, and foreign oil dependence. The dot.com bust was a relatively minor problem, but he inherited that too. OTOH, he inherited a Federal surplus, and the good will of MOST of the nations around the world.
So where are we now, compared to eight years ago?
BTW, it seems to me (observing economy over decades) that low interest rates lead to bubbles, irrespective of whether or not interest rates are "artificially" low (low even when the government is running a massive deficit) or "naturally" low (during times of Federal surplus). Bubbles seem to have little to do with Federal policy per se. I do not blame Bush for the housing bubble. All along, I said the cause was low interest rates.
